  1. The guy is missing the point IMHO. It doesn't matter now whether Putin accepts officially that the troops are there or not. Everybody assumes they are there, anyway (clearly, someone trained and competent must operate all that equipment).

And for Putin that is no longer a big issue. In for a penny - in for a pound. He will not back off now.

Every time Poroshenko tries to bluff his way out and avoid decision, Putin will pin him down and ensure that the next time it will have cost Poroshenko much more.

These are the rules these games are played to. Kiev does not stand a chance anymore (even if they ever had).

And I believe that America providing Kiev with weapons will only give Putin an excuse to move in officially.

P.S. Here is a more pragmatic view on the situation IMHO:

  2. When I create music, I usually don't use a lot of instruments. XD

The way you composed it - already multi-track and polyphonic - I just couldn't resist. :-)

    Here's an oldie from College.

I usually dislike Eno but your piece has a melodic structure to it and is quite nice. Not something I would necessarily listen to on its own but I can see it very enjoyable as a part of an appropriate larger prog number.

P.S. Oh, sorry. My erudition in Sci-Fi shows is clearly lacking :-) - which one was it?

  3. Now Vanilla Ice ripping off Under Pressure for Ice Ice Baby, that's a ripoff.

Yes, isn't it just! But I'm sure if you ask they'll say it's "sampling" and shield themselves with 50 lawyers with pens drawn and subpoenas at the ready! :D

  4. This is not exactly the conclusion I made out of that article...

To me it says that the final shootout on Maidan was pre-planned and provoked by someone on the protester's side, with obvious involvement of the ultra-right groups. The government was manoeuvred into the fight and lost control before they realised what was going on.

  5. Darn.. Now I need to vent. I was going to write that I quite liked the first two songs on you EP but it would look as if I was just trying to cheer you up on account of your broken heart, wouldn't it? Darn!..

  6. She's an ex. She's not supposed to make you feel good anymore. Treat her like a memory. That situation has run its course and is over. You are free to look for someone else now.

And your degree is what really matters. Ten, twenty years from now you will hate yourself if you screw up this because of a skirt and a flush of hormones, believe me...

  7. EDIT: 2 and a half hours later and I'm done! Not even sure what it is.

I really do like how this is turning out.... I've been having some fun changing instruments and for now I prefer setting Piano 2 to an organ and one copy of Piano 1 to a bass and another to a saw-wave synth.

I'm fairly rusty with sheet music but isn't there a clash between hands in bar 140 in Piano 1?

    Regards

P.S. I am also not quite sure if I got the pause in bar 136 right. Eventually I just left it as a 16th note followed by an 8th and a half pause...

  8. Interesting reading...

The untold story of the Maidan massacre

A day of bloodshed on Kiev's main square, nearly a year ago, marked the end of a winter of protest against the government of president Viktor Yanukovych, who soon afterwards fled the country. More than 50 protesters and three policemen died. But how did the shooting begin? Protest organisers have always denied any involvement - but one man told the BBC a different story.

  9. Here's a short piece I made last year for my Composition module.

Nice. Your explanation made me think of a famous octatonic piece here

It also amazing to think that they even performed it live over a hundred times, considering the stage setup they used for that tour, and the technical problems they had to put up with.

They have since given all the materials to The Musical Box and the latter have recreated the complete "Lamb" show, with slides, props and all. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see them doing it, though I've been to their "Selling England" show and that was absolutely perfect (they are touring Canada and the US now)!

  10. If the dentist is not a complete butcher then pulling the tooth should not be that bad, actually. Certainly not the kind of blood loss as the other one... I don't know if he is going to use anesthetic, if he is, then you may want to drink a glass of water with a couple of teaspoons of sugar (real one, not sweetener) to keep the blood sugar level up and not feel dizzy.

On religion v atheism - we used to have a thread for that somewhere in serious topics. Might as well resurrect it, if anyone's interested...

    Regards
