  1. I like your current name. Nothing's wrong with it... Regards
  2. The first image link in your last post doesn't work Regards

  4. The trouble is that investors will expect a return on their investment, which will not be possible unless there is some sort of wealth creation going on and a positive trade balance is maintained. Like BTG said - there are number of possibilities to think of, like building high-tech fabs, hydroponic farms etc but the logistics and cost of raw materials, power and end products all need to be considered. You can build a wonderful factory producing great product but in such a remote location that the cost of moving stuff there and back will be so high that the product will not be able to compete in the market... So, I guess, what I want to say is that to progress with your idea you need to think not simply about the ideal social structure but the hard economics as well. Otherwise, you won't find any investors willing to provide the capital. An alternative will be to try to sustain it purely on charitable donations, but it is even more far-fetched and far from being free and writing your own rules you will find yourself completely under control and fulfilling the agenda of your main donors. Regards
  5. Please, please stay with 30fps (or 29.97 - even better). Higher framerate is not looking any better but will only require a higher bitrate to retain quality during compression... Regards
  6. That's interesting. I wonder if they do the same thing here in the UK... How do they get off the hook with the FDA or whatever organisation is monitoring the food labeling? Because, clearly, the natural sea salt does not have anywhere near that amount of KCl in it. Regards
  7. @Rocket Propelled Gordon: What is the plan for making it self-sufficient? Clearly, in those latitudes it won't produce all of its own food, so will have to import from somewhere. What are you planning to export in order to be able to trade internationally? Regards
  8. AFAIK, "sea salt" contains only about 1% KCl unless more has been added artificially, the rest is the good old NaCl. Regards
  9. Well, they can always do this: I'm sure it would. I don't know of any DRM-free game released by Valve since they've managed to trick gamers into Steam. Regards
  10. If it wasn't LockMart doing the announcement, I'd have dismissed it as another of those LENR scams. It will be a real game-changer if it turns out to be real. However, even with such a major corporation there's still a non-zero probability that it may not be serious... Anyway, interesting times - NASA claims success in testing a Casimir Effect rocket engine, LockMart's upbeat about working (let alone portable) fusion reactor. Space exploration will explode if these prove to be genuine. I'll drink to that. Regards

  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29611875 In my opinion this is significant because it reflects the evolving sentiment in the UK and in Europe towards Israel. I personally do not think that if the US' unquestioning support for Israel will evaporate, the Europeans will rush to replace the Americans. Quite the opposite, I think the combination of a genuine popular disapproval of Israeli policies towards Palestine with the still widespread antisemitism will mean most EU countries will just watch from the side, if not actively supporting the Arabs against Israel. Regards

  14. Well, looks like the rumours are true and the Turks are actually supporting ISIS (at least in as much as they are continuing the extermination of the Kurds): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-29548662 Create a no-fly zone? Really? Last I heard, ISIS had no air force, so who are they trying to prevent from flying? Regards
  15. That's a good one. After "Tarkus" - probably my favourite out of ELP. Ffldrb3dwBQ Before Palmer left AR for ELP... Regards
  16. It's been a while since I had been to HK last time so can't say what the mood in the streets is. I am concerned that the protestors turned this into a personal confrontation with the incumbent CEO. That tends to distort the issues and make negotiations very difficult if not impossible. The way I see it - once it became personal, the CEO has no room to back down without losing face, which will be fatal for his career. He isl then motivated to be aggressive and uncompromising until the end. The CEO then is very likely to try to resolve the things by force, once the holidays are over next week. The Chinese government will look and if they think he is winning - they will support him, if he fails - they will call him off and make him a scapegoat and a "rogue official", then send a "good cop" to negotiate. A win-win for them. Regards
  17. Meanwhile the valiant RAF have proudly destroyed ... a pick up truck. Oh, and two(!) more Tornadoes are being sent to Iraq - the victory is assured now! Regards

  22. I will be personally very surprised if they will push for that. They don't really need it and the price will be too high. A pacified Ukraine is just as good a land-bridge. Regards
  23. I think in Ukraine Russia will back down as soon and for as long as they no longer see any moves towards Ukraine joining the Western anti-Russian alliances. They won't mind much a closer economic ties with the EU but not to the expense of the trade with Russia and certainly no military alliance with NATO. Well, "short of war" - that's not aggression - it's what passes for diplomacy these days... Regards
  24. Too little too late, I'm afraid. This is now like a metastatic cancer. ISIS now has a real support among the Sunis on the ground and the PR-type bombardments are not going to be effective, they will only consolidate the support for ISIS among their sympathisers in the Middle East. They way I see it now is you either a) carve out a chunk of Iraq and Syria and accept ISIS' statehood ambitions in the hope that they will mature and mellow (look how well that worked with the Taliban!) or b) mount a really big invasion and prepare for a long hard occupation, colonisation almost (this isn't going to happen). Things went totally FUBAR. Regards
  25. What future aggression do you mean - inside Ukraine or do you expect Russia to go beyond that? Regards
