"You can count me and my crew in on this journey, as well," said Scorch, adjusting his hat before making his way out of the tavern. "Twas a pleasure meeting you, professor." Scorch's joints whirred as he turned his back to the group and left the tavern, nearly bumping into a cloaked figure. "My my, someone's in a hurry..." A smile formed in the corners of his mouth. This journey might be more interesting than I anticipated... Scorch opened his hand, a small hologram appearing from his fingertips of the information Argyle's head captain had given them. The map and hazards were vague... no, purposely vague. Clearly he wants to make sure no one beats him to the treasure, Scorch mused to himself. He tapped a few pressure sensitive zones on his forearm, which sent the data to the [i[Glain-Neidr[/i]. He headed back for his ship, when his communicator started buzzing. He looked around a bit to make sure no one was watching him before answering it. "Captain Scorch, this is the Glain-Neidr," said an icy-toned woman, no doubtedly Sydney. "What is this we're looking at? Don't tell me this is all you got out of this." "Calm yourself, Sydney," Scorch sighed. "We're not exactly on familiar ground here, so I chose to get what I could get my hands on. I trust Claud hasn't looked at the data yet?" "No, he's busy fabricating munitions," Sydney replied. "Why? Is there something I'm missing?" "Possibly, I'm not sure yet," Scorch looked around. "I want you, Destiny, and Claud to meet me on the bridge when I return to the ship. I trust we're ready to leave?" "Of course!" chimed Destiny. "Anything for you, Captain~" "Good. We'll be following that Oskra F-2840 I mentioned last night," said Scorch. "What!? You have got to be kidding me!" cried Destiny. "We have to escort that piece of slag? This is going to be soooooo boring..." Scorch growled in his throat, "Destiny. Shut up. If you're so bored, how about you work that magic of yours and get the records of the ships that are scheduled to leave port immediately." "Oh, fine," Destiny was clearly disappointed with her assignment. "I'll get on it. I should have something by the time you get back." "You had better," Scorch said before closing the communication line. Scorch made it back to the port where they docked the Glain-Neidr. The lights inside the port enhanced the radiance of the ship's hull, making it glow with an eerie crimson light. Scorch approached the entrance and placed his left hand on the scanner. A key from his palm penetrated the panel, opening the door. Scorch was greeted by his crew, most of whom were disguised as Corsian engineers, who stood at attention as Scorch passed them. He entered the bridge to find his crew all at the ready. Destiny leapted from her post when she saw Scorch step onto the bridge, but Sydney stopped her from undoubtedly hugging him. "Would you grow up already?" Sydney grunted as she struggled to restrain Destiny, her skeleton glowing for the entire bridge to see. "Destiny!" Scorch growled. "Stop it." Destiny stopped struggling and gave Scorch the look of a kicked puppy. Scorch smiled and looked at Claud. "It's good to see you up and about, my friend. Have you looked at the data I--" "I'm scanning it now," said Claud, "I'm assuming you're hoping I can find a way to acquire more information. This is a large file, and getting the data I'll need will take a while." "So it's there?" "Maybe, I'm not entirely sure yet," Claud replied in an even-toned voice. "Only thing I'm sure of is we're not dealing with idiotic nobles this time around." All the more reason this expedition has me interested. "And Destiny? Did you find out anything about the ships?" Destiny grinned and freed herself from Sydney's restraining grasp. "Of course I did! No one can resist my charms..." "It helps that I gave you those drugs to slip the guard you 'charmed'," Syndey rolled her eyes. "I've already looked through the data, Scorch." "And?" "And nothing," Syndey said. "Most of the records we got were clean. The ships aren't anything too special, and the captains are fairly average, although two of them are apparently ghosts in the system." "Interesting... I'll take a closer look at the data myself once we've taken off," said Scorch. "Everyone, to your posts! Prepare the Glain-Neidr for take-off."

Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
Obsidian replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
I really think mainstream public schooling should stick to a more secular education. Whether people like it or not, not everyone believes in the same thing. I say let the Church's teach the things from their books, and let the schools teach the more... what's the word... mainstream(?) ideas in the science classes. If schools say, want to teach Creationism in a world religion class or some other elective, that's fine since I would hope kids would be able to understand what they're choosing to expose themselves to. But I don't think that public institutions should force religion-specific beliefs/ideas (I believe creationism has a pretty complex proof somewhere, but I'm having trouble finding it in a non-fluff form) on students that don't choose to accept said religion or beliefs. -
