  1. Sweetie Belle, and no it's fine.

I won't be able to continue the argument, though, I'm going to a fish fry. Have a representation of me waiting impatiently for a response.

  2. Through in some TF2

    *throw

No one here corrects my grammar but Twilight Sparkle, you got that? I SAID DO YOU GOT THAT!

    Gordon Freeman goes to work

    funny-gifs-getting-into-upper-management.gif

More like Altair. If it were Freeman it would involve a lot more vents.

  3. How does Scootaloo's keyboard produce a guitar solo

Because Hergest Ridge felt like putting a full minute of song with no lyrics, and by that point I gave up on actually doing anything with it and just had her slamming her head into it. Though I liked how she gets her groove back as the music kicks in, I like the juxtaposition.

prepare to get blown the fuck out of the water when I release my next full "PMV".

However, just for clarification, this does not count as a full PMV:

Nice, pretty clever, the keying is good but a bit off sometimes, it helps that it was such a long shot of her screaming. The CMC was what really made it work though.

I should really have more than one video under 15 seconds. I shall keep an open mind and consider doing such a thing, though hopefully nothing that would disappoint my subscribers. After all, I have a reputation as a PMV maker, not as a funny clip maker. Oh the dilemma.

  4. fimFiction

Yeah, the site is kind of broken like that. Part of it is just that there are just so many stories, and that starting a new one will get you more views than continuing an old one. I have 3 friends with stories on there, and none have updated since June / a week or so after publishing. I'm just hoping we'll keep ours alive just with the good writing, big size, and actual updates. Also the compilation posts help, but not as much as I had hoped.

Anyway, I'm glad we've gotten over this whole competitive thing with Chuck and me.

    That said:

    Suck my balls, Double Chuck.

  5. Lol. I'm also not talented. The extent of my contribution to the community is snidely telling Shiny all the things that are wrong with his fic, but being helpful enough while doing so that he doesn't tell me to piss off. I call this process 'editing'.

And you are extraordinarily good at it. You point out all the times that I put something in their for story reasons that conflicts with the world, and any time I put something in for world-building that conflicts with the story. Yes, I know I said it was bullet proof last chapter, but bullet holes just look so cool!

    Peace, Love, and Tolerance.

    Collective Foal out!

    This requires spoilering:

First of all, I do appreciate every single view. I read every single comment, and will reply to any of them that could be replied to, even ones on videos that are months old. The fact that I'm competing with chuck just means I appreciate them even more. Same way with subscribers. The only reason I don't thank them all personally is because it's kind of creepy, but I do clip on each of them and watch videos if they have them.

Second, the reason I so relish my competitiveness with Chuck is just that we are both such rare yet equal amounts of popular that we're happy to have someone that does what we do. We have a special sort of kinsmanship, and you know as well as I do that this is in absolutely no way serious. In fact, I sort of rely on it for motivation. When you're on your 6th PMV, and your last one spent months but got less vies than a little fad video, it can be tough to want to do more. However, having a clear enemy with which to compete drives me to actually finish these things.

Third, we were both like you in the beginning. I just kept getting annoyed at how inactive I was in the fandom until one point where I just said "screw it i'm making a PMV." My head exploded when the Safety Dance video I made broke 500, then it exploded twice when it hit 1,000. Mostly it's just about getting lucky and finding what works for you. There's really no way to make it happen, or even to see it coming.

Fourth, we're not famous. We have subscribers who are famous, we have videos which are not famous but very popular, but we ourselves are not famous. I have quite a few subscribers, but haven't made a single Steam friend, tumblr follower, deviantart watcher, or (serious) collab offerer from my videos.

Fifth, I wish my fic had half as many readers as any of yours. Throwing together some video clips and special effects is one thing, but putting together an intricate story with defined characters is actually hard. And I would say that I'm more proud, quality-wise, of that fic than my youtube stuff.

I think that about covers it.

  6. Yeah... It's been quite a run, hasn't it.

Side note: I've pretty much been avoiding this thread like the plague to avoid any premature... things to season 3.

So far there's only been like 2 teasers, both songs and someone found a picture of a possible villain. Other than that it's mostly just been bickering and random fan stuff.

And btw, PM me if you want to go to one of the Wisconsin meetups. There's a big one coming up in Richfield, and a smaller group I'm part of in Stevens Point.

  7. Here's what I think went through their head:

Mane1: "Hey, is that a leak?"

Mane2: "What? Oh. Oh shit. Oh $#%^&*#@&$(*@!#$&"

    Mane3&4: "What's the problem guys?"

Mane1: "We're totally screwed. Some guy leaked it."

    Mane3: "Well, shit."

    Mane4: "SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING."

Mane3: "No updates, no more QA, hell, shut down the alpha. We need to get this guy, and we need to figure out how we're going to deal with this. Any one who has a copy is the enemy."

    *That post*

    Mane5&6: "Our game got leaked?"

    Mane2: "Yeah. We're screwed."

Mane5: "Dude, we already got the new build, that thing's already outdated."

Mane6: "All this is doing is freaking out everyone."

Mane3: "What about the guys who download it?"

Mane6: "You mean our fans? We probably shouldn't hunt them down for wanting to play our game."

    Mane4: "Okay, point taken."

Mane1: "Yeah, we should probably tell them things'll be alright."

    *updates post*

And that concludes Shiny's Game Developer Theatre for today.

  8. pft. I take no sides. you want a resource for a video, I'm here.

I've already put your vectors in 2 of my videos.

Though I will remember that next time I don't feel like doing the vectoring myself, or when it needs to be a higher quality than I can squeeze out on my own.

  9. Cleaning up the line work and getting rid of the background blurry blue residue should be all else you need before making it your avvatar, though.

Yeah, the blurry blue residue is a result of me working with soft pastels, and it getting all over my right arm.

I know, the same thing happens when I do stuff with pencils. I just didn't know if it had any actual name, and didn't feel like writing out the full explanation.

Oh, and I've got two, yes TWO things to show later today. As soon as I finish them.

EDIT: BAM! Here's one of them. Remember that awesome picture JJR made me? Well here's a reminder.

Then I did this with it:

    ocvectorshopped.jpg

Vectored, then touched up in photoshop to blend the gradients better. I myself am shocked at how well it turned out, but JJR's is still better I think.

Maybe if I do it to his OC I can get my refined back...
