Sure-fire way to express your bronydom in public without your parents knowing: wear a t-shirt that says "20% Cooler" on it. I am already baffled at the number of *nod-wink-point-at-my-shirt*'s I have gotten from random dudes on the street. And the nice thing is your parents/non-brony friends are clueless; they think you're just wearing a funny shirt.

I prefer my RD hoodie. It looks like just a pretty cool rainbow lightning bolt thingy on the front, and the weather factory thing on the back just looks like an album cover or random T-shirt design.

I still say you should just tell them. The only reason she made fun of Blighty's avatar is because Blighty isn't her son. Trust your parents to be good parents. And the brony music will only encourage the fact that you are not nearly alone in your fandom and hat other people put lots of hard work into respecting the show.
