The problem is, that whether you mean to or not you end up coming off as someone who is getting personally offended that people are enjoying something you don't and wanting THEM to change which only results in ruining everyone's mood.

But I've stated multiple times that's not what I'm after. I'm not interested in turning someone's opinion into my own. As far as I'm aware I was merely stating my opinion. I was complete snarky asshole about it but not once did I say "your opinion needs to be like mine" or something similar. I don't really know what to do outside of saying "This is just my opinion and if you disagree then that's okay.".

I am not that new actually. I already introduced myself about 5 years, 4 months and 30 days ago. After doing that I enjoyed this forum for about 2 years after which....I don't really know. Life happened, I guess. Looking back on that time, this forum provided comfort, fun, and a platform to express my (sometimes cringe worthy)thoughts. Since then a lot has changed and I never really had any platform like this. I have a sprawling social life, but that is different. I haven't been part of a "bigger" community like this. I still youtube and reddit heavily, but I never post. I stay passive, lurking and absorbing content without producing any of my own.

 

Luckily for me, one thing that hasn't changed is that I am still a massive digital hoarder. So I came across this bookmark and figured: let's try this again. So here I am. Trying this again.

 

But enough of my motivations, this is getting way to serious. In order to write a new and improved introduction I decided to take a look at my old introduction and see what has changed:

I am 14 years old, i really enjoy Freemans mind and Civil Protection(can't wait for the tunnel). And i appreciate all the work you do for us, ross. I am a PC gamer and i do GFX, VideoFX and photo manipulation for fun(i like doing it, doesn't mean I'm good at it ). I am half Norwegian, half German and i live in The Netherlands

 

....very elaborate. Anyway, I am a bit older now, 20 to be exact. My nationalities and living place still apply. So does my love for Ross' work(although I have to admit that I'm not quite up to date). I don't really do "gfx, vfx or photo manipulation" anymore, my hobbies are quite different now. I mostly enjoy fitness and I have been doing(and really enjoying) Ballroom dance for two years now. Back then, I believe, I wanted to study something computer related as well. But come September I am going to start my first year of Human Movement Sciences. PC gaming is still something I do and enjoy....sortof. While I definitely still like doing it, I can not bring myself to spend many hours at a time on a multiplayer game(though a good story driven game can still hook me). Besides that I have less time than I used to(between school, 2 jobs and 2 sports). Only games I play really regularly at the moment are Hearthstone and Overwatch(because I can play them in short bursts), the VERY occasional game of TF2 and sometimes I dabble in OSRS. I do, however, still love doing multi-day lan parties with friends whenever I can.

 

Well enough talking about myself. Let's hope I pull this off instead of going silent in a weeks time

That post wasn't meant to be taken literally. I was just a bit frustrated because it felt like my opinion being attacked for merely being stated. Is asking for a niche option setting really that bad? It's just my opinion and I don't think I was being unreasonable with it. Sure I was gripey but I didn't hold it over peoples' heads saying "my opinion is the only right one.". As I said before opinions don't hurt you. People can have specific opinions and they have the right to express them. In that same vein they should also be respectful to others' opinions because they're just as valid.

And I was "just a little frustrated" when i read your response. I'm allowed to express my opinions just as you express yours, but if you form your opinion over what I believe to be bullshit i.e. ninja getting 1hit by literally anything when he's hardly touched the game and you not having the self control to use a system that isn't even remotely in the way

No offense but how ignorant do you have to be to slack off someone's opinion as braindead? It's in my face and I would like an option to turn it off, simple as that. Next thing you know there might not even be an options menu in future titles. God forbid developers leave their comfortably lazy hug boxes created by fans that will die defending them so developers little feelings don't get hurt. You know what if developers can't handle dealing with criticism then they should leave the games industry and go hang themselves for all the unnecessary bullshit they bring along with them. Fuck that mentality and fuck those people, they deserve nothing. I shouldn't have to go this far to get my goddamn point across and defend it for merely existing, Jesus fucking Christ.

Even though options menus are generally more complex now than they need to be and "disable fast travel" is really just extra clutter? It's nowhere close to being in-your-face, just learn some fucking self control. If anything, the only "hugbox" here is the whiny minorities of the audience complaining about shit that doesn't even matter. And if you genuinely think that developers that don't cater to your tiny complaints need to hang themselves, you need to evaluate your life to find out when and why you became such an enormous cunt.

Does it matter if Psychotic is? Even though I enjoy insane levels of difficulty I recognize that's not to everyone's taste and thus I don't try to turn other peoples' opinions into my own. I do this out of respect for other peoples' opinion because they're opinion is just as valid as mine. I mean it's not like Psychotic's opinion is going to destroy Dark Souls in it's entirety so honestly why do you care?

I care because there's no way in hell he could die in 1 hit for as long as he's played it, the only early-game enemy that's capable of 1hitting you is Havel, and he's incredibly easy to kill anyway. The game is nowhere near as cheap as he claims and I get frustrated when people don't bother to give a game a proper chance for the wrong reasons.
