  1. It's now been changed to a max of 1.44MB. I can't see an image with a maximum size of 110x110 taking up more space, but feel free to prove me wrong.
  2. Sidenote: Linus Tech Tips’ forum uses the same system as us, you could suggest things from there to be added here. (We’re obviously not going to copy them entirely, but some reference helps.)
  3. The "Message" button (in people's user pages and the hovercard) should work, along with the envelope button in the userbar at the top. The inbox is a bit broken at the moment, but I'll sort it out later.
  4. Hello, this is Ekke Tõnisson, one of the other site developers for this update. I did almost all of the front-end, Sean (The Britain) is the sysadmin, and Tomas created the Extras and FAQ pages, but he has gotten busy since then. I'm also in charge of transferring the articles over to the new system, which has been the main bottleneck for this site getting finished. (It's been taking so long because unlike the forums, there is no standard way of migrating the Wordpress articles to the Invision system.) I hope to get it done soon™, within about two days.
  5. Here's the September videochat with fans. There's not a lot of changes since last time, most of the video is just me rambling, but I had a lot of good questions this time. This should hopefully be the LAST video at this location, as moving is still my top priority AND there are apartments I can rent now. After I move, focus will be on a spree of Freeman's Mind videos + maybe some Halloween ones.
  6. While I'm still in the process of trying to find a new place, I should still be here in time for the next videochat with fans. That's going to be scheduled for September 1st, at 6PM UTC. Unless I'm incredibly unlucky, this should be the last videochat at my current location. Ask questions or topics to discuss here.
  7. Here's the latest Game Dungeon! I ended up having a lot of delays on this one, so many I didn't report them all because I thought people would think I was making them up. I can say most of the issues related to that will be resolved once I move, which I'm hoping to take steps on towards the end of the month. On that note, between moving and working on the movie, there may be a longer than usual delay on the next video. That said, I think this one is solid "Game Dungeon" material and is closer to what I strive for in this show, although maybe not this long. In other news, I hope to respond to more emails and the site may go down and come back up later this month!
  8. This is a quick update / post for advice. Last night I noticed two recording sessions I made for the next Game Dungeon episode ended up being severely flawed to the point I had to throw them out. What would happen would be my voice would be recording normally, then would suddenly cut out to drastically reduced volume. It has since stayed highly erratic. People have sometimes complained of crackling in the live video chats with fans, it's possible that was a prelude to this. You can listen to a sample I recorded here: Sample of recording screw-up Feel free to email me with any suggestions if you're knowledgeable with this sort of thing. I'm really stumped as to what the problem is. THINGS I'VE TRIED SO FAR: -Swapping different microphones -Swapping different XLR cables -Trying microphone that doesn't need phantom power -Changing USB ports for my DAC -Uninstalled / updated DAC drivers -Trying different audio editors (Audition / Audacity) POSSIBLY USEFUL INFORMATION: -I am using a Focusrite Scarlett Solo DAC for my audio. I've owned it for about a year and a half. -I've had a lot of "ghosts in the machine" with my USB ports on this motherboard in the past. It got so bad using external hard drives was simply unreliable (would reliably cause file copy errors) unless I plugged them into a different port. Whenever I plugged in a device like the webcam, I would often have to plug the device back into an old port for it to work again. It got so bad I bought a PCI-E USB 3.0 add on card, which solved the problem completely. Since I wasn't experiencing any problems with my DAC, I left it plugged in to the motherboard. Since then, I've switched to the add-on card, but the problem persists. -My motherboard is an Asus P8P67. -In the past I used a Xonar DX soundcard. It had great sound, but would periodically give me severe driver problems to the point that I felt like it was unusable for the long term. I haven't used it since I had the DAC -I have not experienced any audio playback problems at any point in time, just recording. -I am absolutely willing to buy new hardware if necessary, but I don't want to waste my money if I have good equipment and made a bad diagnosis. CURRENT PLANS: -If I can find the right cables, I plan to use an old pre-amp and redirect everything using motherboard audio. If that works, the sound won't be quite as good, but will hopefully be good enough to finish the next episode. If that doesn't work, I'm completely out of ideas -This has delayed the next episode by at least a day. If I get it solved today, then I'm predicting Wednesday for its release. If not, then everything is in limbo until this gets fixed. -In the event motherboard audio works, I don't want to do that as a long-term solution (I can hear the difference between dedicated soundcard / DAC audio v. motherboard audio). I'm certainly open to suggestions. ADHD version: Ross is having for real audio problems. Will finish next Game Dungeon as soon as he gets a temporary fix.
  9. Here's the latest chat with fans. I'm still working to move out of here, but that likely won't happen until the end of the month. Besides the Game Dungeon episode I'm finishing up, there won't be much in the way of videos this month since I'm going to focus mostly on the movie. Also, it's possible the website may go down at some point this month (in fact, I hope it does so it can be updated), to use the new codebase. All it means is things will be locked down temporarily, we shouldn't lose any data. I'll have more details on that later.
  10. Things STILL not stabilized for me yet, but I should be available for the next videochat with fans. Ask questions or topics to discuss here for the next videochat with fans on 6pm UTC on August 5th at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. There will hopefully be a new Game Dungeon before the chat, but it's too close to call at the moment. I still haven't located my mic I normally use for the chats, but hopefully I'll find it in time so the audio quality will be better. https://www.reddit.com/r/accursedfarms/comments/8v3192/july_2018_video_chat_official_questions_thread/">Ask questions or topics to discuss here.
  11. New Dead Games News episode! I realize only a minority of fans watch this, but this is the one gaming issue I just can't ignore, so I'm trying to keep the torch lit on this until I can take some actual action against it. This episode is in the new format, where I only cover a couple topics, but go much more into depth on them. There's currently been multiple events going on that don't seem very significant now, but I think are a sign of things to come. I'm noticing that I'm taking a "future history" approach on these videos. Life is complicated when you're a time traveler. Next video should be Game Dungeon, I think it's the sort of game that regular viewers expect from that show.

  13. Due to popular demand, I'm releasing a couple more clips related to the last Game Dungeon episode. The first is for an extra-high quality copy (the same version I uploaded to Youtube) of the episode. Due to this episode having lots of fast motion and high details, it compressed very poorly compared to pretty much every other episode. To put it in perspective, I used even higher quality compression settings than this on A New Beginning, and that was 1/20th the size this one was. So for people who are frustrated by the compression, here's a downloadable version that has minimal artifacting: Ross's Game Dungeon: The Crew (x264 9.44GB MKV) This is meant for personal viewing only. Please do not upload copies of this to Youtube or other streaming networks. However, as with all my videos, Fair Use purposes (reviews, parodies, derivative works, etc.) are of course fine. The other request I received was for the green screen footage of my driving segment in the video. These were not made under ideal conditions. I had time pressure and had to record this in my currently evacuated room. You'll see some shadowing that isn't helpful, but people can monkey with it if they want. I've included 3 takes of the shot. Green screen driving video (x264 44MB MP4) Unlike the Game Dungeon episode itself, you can use this clip for anything you want, no restrictions. I'm not necessarily saying you SHOULD, but I don't have a problem with it being used for whatever.
  14. Here is the next Game Dungeon after a long hiatus! This turned into one of the more ambitious episodes I've done. I'm generally happy with how it came out, in fact, this one might be my favorite "non-weird game" episode. I think in the future I may have to scale down Game Dungeon a little bit one way or another, just so there's more time for the movie. The one thing I don't want to sacrifice is the writing, however, so that should remain consistent regardless. Writing is often the easiest part of making these videos actually. I cut some more material that was going to be in here, some of which I may use in a follow-up episode later on. Also, while I'm not in a situation to have play sessions with fans currently, at some point in the future, I'd be interested in trying a group road trip with fans in The Crew on PC. I figure at least some people have it since I announced when it was free back in 2016 on twitter. I can't even imagine how the game would handle 100 or so people all in the same place. It could be it would just glitch out, but it would be interesting to try out. Anything can happen the way things are at the moment, but assuming things don't change, I hope to have more videos this month.
  15. Here's my poorly timed videochat! My living situation is still unstable, but I have breathable air and can work on my computer. The audio quality was poorer this time due to me misplacing my usual mic for the chats. New Game Dungeon should be coming in a few hours!
  16. Hey everyone, things still aren't back to normal, but there's a big Game Dungeon coming soon and I think my situation might be stable enough to resume the videochats for the time being. So if nothing goes wrong, the next one will be on 12PM Noon EST on July 7th at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. I'll have a few minor announcements and answer questions afterwards. Audio is likely to be more echoey this time. Ask questions or topics to discuss here.
  17. I have a sort of new video for you. Several months back, Tom White (from Weird Videogames) met composer Alexander Brandon at a convention and set up an interview with him to which I was invited to. We proceeded to ask him a bunch of questions, Tom was in possession of the footage and has finally edited it all together and put it up on his channel. The interview ended up being more technical than I anticipated, so it may not be for everyone, but some may find it interesting. For those that find it too dry, Tom also put together his own special edit here that you might like more. For those that don't know, Alexander Brandon is one of my favorite composers and has done fantastic work for games like Tyrian, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, along with lots of other music. He was a lot of fun to talk to and exudes this personality like there's no stopping him. Also since he was the audio director on Deus Ex: Invisible War, I got to ask him what happened with the music direction for that game (that part is towards the end). Also, when we interviewed him, he was currently available for composing music for game creators. I don't know his rates, but if you're working on a game, it's possible you could hire him to compose music for it. I think he mentioned his contact information in the video (also towards the end), but it's been several months since I did this, so I don't remember for certain. All in all, he was a cool guy, his music is still great, and I think I would enjoy his unrestrained vision of the original Unreal.
  18. Here's an update on the current drought of videos. The simple version is things haven't stabilized, but I might be making progress maybe. I'm hoping to have some real videos in the near future, but it's still going to be a rocky path for a while.

    ALL VIDEOS ON HOLD

All videos are on hold due to a domestic crisis I'm having! Playsessions and videochat sessions are all cancelled until further notice. I honestly don't know when this is going to resolved, but I do intend to return once my living situation has stabilized. Sorry about this, I'm not happy about it either!
  20. Here's the special Earth Day episode of Game Dungeon! This is arriving MUCH later than I wanted it to, but managed to make it happen USA time in any event (I did not save the Earth European time for the most part). Trying to make this deadline took a lot out of me, but I sort of made it! In any event, the episode came out pretty well. Next up will be Freeman's Mind, but no current estimates as far as when. More stuff coming!
  21. Here is the much-delayed next Game Dungeon! I'm not happy with how long this one ended up taking to make, but I think this is a good baseline episode. Game Dungeon can stray into different territories, but this is more or less the standard I want to keep it at. It's not necessarily the best episode, but it's very Ross's Game Dungeon. Assuming I don't wreck all my time estimates again, another Game Dungeon and more Freeman's Mind should be coming this month!
  22. Here's the April videochat. There's nothing too critical in here. The main news is I'm running behind on the next video, but am aiming to have it out sometime tomorrow!
  23. Sorry for the short notice on this one. Ask questions or topics to discuss here for the next videochat with fans on 2pm EST on April 7th at twitch.tv/rossbroadcast. I'm hoping to have a new video out before the chat!
  24. Here's the next Freeman's Mind episode, at long last! I never meant for there to be this long a delay since the last one. Being sick accounted for a significant portion of it, I also lost a bunch of time related to legal paperwork I had to take care of (which is still ongoing), the rest I'm still not sure what happened. This one definitely had some more behind the scenes work on it than usual I originally thought about making this a shorter episode, but seeing as how it was so long since the last one, I decided to make it a longer one instead. Work will resume soon on the next one!
  25. I'll be having a playsession of Zombie Panic: Source with fans on March 18th at 2PM EST. This one may have a rotation of many maps since I haven't seen the changes to 3.0 yet. Here's the server info (found in the browser): Primary Server Name: AF Server ZP!S Password: dragon Overflow Server Name: AF Overflow ZP!S Password: dragon The next Freeman's Mind episode may come out today if I can figure out this damn bug.
