I watched the video rant about the GUI and I thought it was really good.
I have suggestion that I think would really help you. Because I have been spending a LOT of time thinking about that as well.
Here are my absolute top recommendations
Install a clipboard manager
the best is Ditto Clipboard Manager, it takes a little effort to its used but after that you will not be able to go without it.
It is an open source clipboard manager and extremely featureful and in active development.
Install AltSnap
This addresses the issue of moving/resizing/closing windows.
I recommend that you enable the Hotclick feature on your favorite 4th or 5th mouse button.
This will allows you to move and resize any window effortlessly
Also, use the window snap feature, which you have to enable manually and create boundaries
This is like the "powertoy fancyzone" feature, except now it works with the HotClick
This allows you to snap any window into any pre-defined zone by doing a "mouse button chord" of you hotclick button+left click drag and then hitting the right mouse button, your now in snap mode and this is how you will always move windows around from now on because, it is simply the best way to do this action.
Also, there is a blacklist button to exclude certain windows from AltSnap

Install Open-Shell (classic style and show all settings -> search box-> access normally (instead of access with tab, which is very annoy)
Ok next, these are more common
notepad++ (disable autocomplete and replace notepad with notepad++ at the OS level)
system informer (replace taskmanager at the os level too)
voidtools everything (set hotkey to CTRL+F3 and bind close window to ESC) You will now always find the files you are searching for
winredocker (will automatically put your windows back in their place after resolution changes)
eartrumpet (needs work but it's the best sound mixer and you can set hotkeys to switch audio devices and muting)
sharex, by far the BEST screenshot/video screenshot/audio recording/text OCR/QR code reading application but the default settings are bad, and confusing to configure (task settings -> upload -> file name-> namepatternforcapture:%y-%mo-%d_%hh%mis%s_%widthx%height and namepatternforwindowcapture: %y-%mo-%d_%hh%mis%s_%pn_%t_%widthx%height )
Learn to use this and your computer use will be vastly improved
