Gaussian Splat for Games?

Recommended Posts

Heya i tried to find if this topic brought up somewehere but i didnt find any so i hope im right here.

I remember that Ross in one of his videos, he mentioned on a tangent about preserving game maps and world as much as possible by just walking around a game map and somehow scanning the data of it.

This way you wouldnt even have to mod the game or anything (free fly cameras would always be best i guess)

I really liked the idea but i dont know which video it was, maybe someone knows what im reffering too and could link it.

So recently i watch this video by CorridorCrew about gaussian splat tech

They even use already existing 3D Models in the video so the jump to games wouldnt be so far off right?

Having other games map in something like VR chat would be so cool imo.

Let me know what you think of the tech and if it would actualy be applicable to game preservation or somthing like that.
