If you are buying a used car, perhaps from a car dealer in japan, you must check for safety recalls. It is simple to do. First, find the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)—it is a 17-digit code often near the windshield or on the driver's door edge. Next, go to the official website for vehicle safety recalls in your country (like NHTSA in the US) or the car maker's website. Type in the VIN and search. This will tell you if the car has any safety issues that the manufacturer must fix for free.
