One of my favorite metroidvania games of all time, right up there with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which is a completely different game aside from the genre.

Hollow Knight is brutally difficult but rarely feels unfair. From when I started playing to when I finally beat Absolute Radiance, I felt myself gradually getting better and better.

I found the atmosphere to be slightly depressing, which I think was the point because you're exploring a fallen society, and that's reflected in the dull-washed colors and melancholy music
