Heads up for anyone who gives this a go, I'd probably recommend the original over the director's cut if the GOG download includes it. The only significant difference as far as I can tell is that there's a plot in the form of voiceovers in the director's cut, but I find that it kind of kills the atmosphere of the rest of the game, since it was all silent originally. You can probably get around this in the director's cut version by just muting the voices, though.

I make stuff. Look at it at https://www.youtube.com/user/MadmanEpic. Or don't. I can't really tell either way.

The Director's Cut also removes one infamously difficult puzzle before the end of the game. Whilst the game's lackluster plot wasn't necessary, I'd still prefer it over a stupidly difficult puzzle which would have worsened my opinion over the game.
