I've been using RedNotebook since 2015 exactly how you described.

It's literally a bunch of *.txt files, except it gives you automatic full-text search, word cloud and tag cloud.

Right now my database is about 5 Mb. It's a freaking knowledge base of the whole last 7 years of my life and I can find anything I need in it in several seconds.

Just a heads up: in monthly videochats playlist this video got added on the wrong end of playlist, which might screw playback order of future videochats.
