  1. Dead Game News! I wasn't even sure about making more of these, but this news was so big and there was so much to talk about here, I felt like I had to. I plan to make a followup video to the "Games as a service is fraud" video also, which this overlaps a bit with, but there was so much here I thought it was enough for a video in itself. It's worth mentioning this did NOT delay the next Freeman's Mind episode, the dialogue on that is done, I'm waiting for sound effects back on those, my guess is that will be out pretty soon. More videos coming! This is a blog post. To read the original post, please click here »

  3. Here's the September videochat with fans. I was low on sleep during this one since I was still recovering from finishing the Trackmania episode. This one was more of a blur to me, so the rambling ratio is probably worse than usual. Nothing too important here, just that Freeman's Mind is going to be the priority for a while and I'll slowly figure out everything else hopefully. This is a blog post. 5. I can look into it, this episode was 5GB, it will probably look better once Youtube processes more. I need to do an archive re-encoding anyway, I noticed a tiny error I made I wanted to fix (I saw it yesterday, but that would have delayed release several hours and I really wanted this one out for August). I also forgot to put in the credits the Atari footage is from the MASH game. It might not even be a theory. I've heard it's to preserve battery life, but if they're obfuscating their gameplan, they're not doing it in an honest way. I forget the title, but it's from the Trackmania Valley soundtrack. I generally don't list music credits if they come directly from the game I'm covering (it would take forever for some episodes). On Youtube, somebody was saying that you can download a stand-alone Maniaplanet 3 version of the games from the forums. I haven't tested it yet, it seems surprising they would allow that. If true, that changes my opinion on them dramatically. I MUCH prefer a "we'll constantly break things, but you can back up the versions you like" approach to normal games as a service.
  6. Here is the latest Game Dungeon! I thought this was going to be a shorter episode, but I ended up having multiple discoveries that made it balloon into what you'll see here. This is easily the most pro-desert video I've done or likely will do. Contains a bonus scandal!

  10. Genre: Strategy Year released: 2016 Ross's Notes: Good atmosphere, story felt a bit bare, lack of a minimap / being able to zoom out is annoying. Ross's rating: Hazy Link to game: https://af.gog.com/game/homeworld_deserts_of_kharak Free to play: No GaaS: No This is a blog post. To read the original post, please click here »
  11. I think I've seen so much since I originally made that section in the forum, I honestly forgot about it. I'll try to go through it again. The list is a little different though, since it would have to be obscure AND look like something I would enjoy playing. Game Dungeon doesn't necessarily need those qualifications though.
  12. Here's the August videochat with fans. This went on a lot longer than I anticipated, but had a good discussion, lots of good questions and topics this time. There's also a bunch of links to things discussed in the video in the video description. This is a blog post. To read the original post, please click here »

  15. Literally the only time I did a cease and desist sort of deal was when a Russian site copied my videos and added subtitles, then sent copyright strikes against ME for the original videos. That's pretty much the bar you have to hit before I would consider doing that.
  16. Didn't fool me. My favorite sound-alike I've heard is here:
  17. I want to say I've been largely absent from the forums for a while since I can be so busy, but I wanted to clarify some things: -I don't approve of topics being locked if the subject isn't trying to be a troll or something really inflammatory to begin with. If people can't discuss things in a civil manner, then they can get warnings or temporary bans, etc. not close the discussion itself. -The internet is more polarized since when I started these forums, so it will doubtlessly lead to more conflict. The rule of thumb here is if you act like an adult, you don't have anything to worry about.
  18. Guys, I'm getting reports about this thread and I don't have time to read through this and see who said what. Just try to remain civil. My kneejerk response is I'm seeing a lot of borderline-sort-of breaking the rules of conduct, but not super overt, I think Blightmare summed it up well. I'm going back to the videos!

  21. I'm with you 100%. I'll say VorpX is the main game in town when it comes to this sort of thing. I can't vouch for motion controls and head tracking however, because I mainly play in the "theater" mode, but every title here is in true 3D: https://www.vorpx.com/supported-games/ Some games can be made to work that are not compatible, but I haven't looked into that. I did get Kingpin: Life of Crime working using a Quake 2 profile however. I'd really like to get the old Need For Speed games working!
  22. I left out in the video I'm not into rhythm games either. Crypt of Necrodancer is on the not-going-to-play-this-but-check-out-the-soundtrack list all the way
  23. Go to collegehumor's Youtube channel and browse their videos from 2012-2013.
  24. There's a lot I haven't checked, though I think the vast majority are not. I only put yes or no if I'm totally certain. I'll explain this process much more probably in the GaaS Fraud video followup.
