Post your favorite songs by the genius that is Aphex Twin, discuss his music, his inspirations, how he inspired your music or something. If you don't know, Aphex Twin is an Ambient music artist. He is known as one of the greatest and is the most popular artist. For good reason too.

This is his most popular song and the most influential on music.

Classifying him as ambiance doesn't feel right to me. I know he does a lot of it but he's all over the place so I just go with saying he's an electronic artist.

As for favorite song, Rubber Johnny was what introduced me to his music. That's still my favorite, but I have so much more of his work to listen to so that may change over time.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BEST THREAD OF ALL TIME!!

and Heliosphan and SAW Volume 1 are his best stuff. But I also love At The Heart Of It All, the song he did for NIN on Further Down the Spiral.

Ventolin is also really good, as is all of ICBYD.

An entire thread about just one artist? I know he's prolific and all but maybe it could be a thread about IDM in general?

Anyway my favorites by him are

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0q1gCsZykg, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iiK4MgIPtI, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fmo1Sjn7dg ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBMq0hiff9w which contains an incredibly vulgar 4 minutes of talking, just watch the shorter version if you want to hear the song).

It was an IDM thread in another forum that got me into electronic music in general, and I'm always changing my tastes and listening to different bands. It started with bands like Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares (pretty much polar opposites) and moved towards the more relaxing end with bands like Boards of Canada (

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2zKARkpDW4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQEmaj9C6ko are both just sublime).

Lately I've been listening to whatever comes up on my Kodomo station on pandora (ckeck out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggif8MB4lmo and/or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE6djfQDfeI).
