hi! welcome to the world son! guess what? we have freedom of speech, but whoa-ho hold on a minute, it's not complete freedom, well you see son for the first two years of your life swearing will be kinda funny, but the next 16 years of your life, if you swear..well... we'll kick your ass...now i know i just swore, but that's the hypocrisy, i'm an adult and i will always have that security blanket to warm up too while i'm swearing up a storm beating the shit out of you for cussing. oh i almost forgot, your mommy and i are sexually active..meaning*ahem* we fool around..but we're gonna be preaching to you that sex before marriage is evil, even though i was with your mother on the second date. one last thing...we know you're gonna discover porn at one point in your life, if i catch you watching it, i'll turn a blind eye to it...because frankly..i don't want you to be a serial killer. your mom apparently does though, so you have to learn to be a ninja with that shit because she. will. bitch! you out for hours, then daddy'll have to pretend to be pissed. well, i gotta give you to mommy, now good luck with puberty and random erections and all that...

All of life in a nutshell. Humans are wonderfully self-contradicting.

He just kept talking and talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt it was really quite hypnotic...

I feel that censorship is good for society, but to an extent. The way we have things in the U.S. I feel is a pretty good balance of how things should be. I do feel that violent video games and similar things should not be put under such scrutiny as the Old Schwarzeneger case in Cali, but our freedom of expression policy is fair enough.

A little is okay, shielding kids from really gruesome scenes, or nasty porn, but anyway, it's time to stop babying them. Explain to them what happens, so that they don't do something stupid, but otherwise let them see the world. Why did we select random words and make them taboo? IT'S A FUCKING WORD!!!! Why shield them from something that is really not that offensive, that they will experience in life? Racism, keeping that away and explaining it, and forbidding them from doing it, that's great! Keep them from saying something inoffensive, that's stupid!

My thoughts exactly. See, the Japanese have their thing different. They don't see children as "Entirely innocent". In truth: They're not. You'd be surprised what they learn, hell, half of the curse words I've learned were in SCHOOL.

Japanese kids media is sometimes....well, graphic. You'll see blood, and hell, even cursing. (And example I was told, a friend said Sonic X had Sonic saying something that basically translated to "Shit, we gotta go!")

We need to have stuff like that, and stop babying them. Or having the networks do the work for us. That's what the censoring here is mostly. Because parents want to shirk responsibility, and so, they have the network cut out stuff. Instead of explaining it to them, we shield them from it.

Now I'm not saying to show them overtly explicit stuff. But to just not baby them. I've always thought of censorship as a stupid idea anyway: They're going to learn the words eventually.
