  1. The Crysis demo was taken from the full game. So was Half-life 2's demo and Portal's, Doom 3's, Amnesia: The Dark Descent's, Starcraft 2's... And obviously there may have to be minor changes, after all the game has to end when the demo level finishes regardless. There may be minor changes for gameplay purposes such as giving the player the weapons they should have by the time they've reached that part of the game in the full version. The idea is to provide a demonstration of the game you're considering buying. I myself have not seen any misleading demos recently.
  2. Crikey that seems a lot to spend on a mouse. I use a Microsoft Intelimouse, it's lovely (and wasn't that expensive).
  3. I shall now enlighten the people of these boards with this strange but awesome song:
  4. Well some people just can't get enough pictures of cables... ;D Wait a minute, scratch that statement. Anyway, your description is most informative, that thing must have cost a lot.
  5. "403 Forbidden" "This file removed due to violation of ImageShack Terms of Service or by user request." I'll admit it looks like an authentic ImageShack removal notice. More seriously, if it violated their terms, would it violate this board's rules? If not, you'll probably need to upload it again somewhere else I think.
  6. I heard about that. Crazy stuff really, but it just goes to show how easily some things have money readily spent on them... Nevertheless, space itself seems really interesting, there's so much we don't know about 'out there', and I'm hoping that we'll see some sort of development like Lunar or Martian colonies in the future...
  7. I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 processor, 8GB DDR2 memory, and an AMD HD6850 graphics card.
  8. Our computing technology alone is absolutely amazing as it is. Look back 100 or 150 years, and try to imagine how our level of technology would seem to those people then. In my opinion based on the rate that our computing technology is evolving and developing the next 100, or even 50 years, should be very interesting indeed. History's always going to have its bad points though. Inbetween those advancements in the first post, you miss out numerous crusades, old wars, slavery, oppression, etc. It's too easy to look back and think about the years in the past being 'the golden age' of humanity and that society is far worse today than it was many years ago, but in reality darker things happened in their time as they do in ours. History is fascinating...
  9. Wait you're saying you WANT them to insult and attack you? O_o
  10. These are proposed guidelines, they are not in effect yet, hence the question mark in the topic title. Plus his quote is only a single line of text.
  11. Ah I remember looking at 3D Studio Max. It was just....MADE of buttons.
  12. I'm afraid you will have to wait until next week.
  13. They came out afterwards. The Horse Armour was an early example of DLC and was I believe infamously controversial.
  14. Steady on with the targetting of BTGBullseye please. Issues between individuals should be kept to PMs until it becomes a moderation issue (ie people are becoming abusive and so on). Lets keep things friendly. Anyway, with regards to piracy, it's a tricky issue, although I will say I don't agree with a common standpoint that every pirated copy is a lost sale. That's just silly. A lot of people who pirate something may well have never purchased the game anyway. And some people who pirate things may end up buying the game later on.
  15. If replying to a particular post, I tend to quote it. It helps to avoid misunderstandings if someone thinks you are replying to them when this is not the case. I agree with pointlessly HUGE quotes such as for example, quoting the entire original post in this thread. However I wouldn't have said this was a really big issue though, not really something worth penalising people for. If heavily nested quotes are a problem, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a way to limit the number of quotes that can be nested. Same with large forum posts, I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of character limit can be implemented. Again though, I don't really think it's necessary, I honestly haven't seen much abuse of the forum (aside from a few huge signature images a while back). Just my two pence really, although I do think discussion like this would be better suited to a staff forum.
  16. Keep off the rabbits and on the topic of pizzas people, lest there be more sudden and unexpected memory reprogramming.
  17. As it was supposed to happen yesterday then I'd expect it to happen very soon.
  18. I don't mind DLC generally, but it does really depend on just what the DLC actually is, from what can be almost a full fledged exapnsion pack to....well does anyone remember the horse armour DLC for Oblivion? Apparently people are actually still buying it.
  19. And in the latest of the four Portal 2 videos, this time it's all about trust.
  20. I guess we'll find out when it won't let us log in. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if there was a news post about it.
  21. I don't know I'm afraid, I don't feel the need to move any of the UI buttons around (bar one niggle that I've explained below), although wherriot7's link may hold the answer you seek: Personally I would like to know if there's a way to restore the right-click 'New Tab' function. For some reason they removed it and I've noticed I used it a fair bit because I keep accidentally reloading tabs when I mean to make a new one. I found one addon that added it back, but it messed around with far too much other stuff for me to want to keep it for just that one thing, so I removed it.
  22. To enable Firefox 4's notifications on closing, enter about:config in to your address bar and click through the warning. Search for 'warn'. Set browser.tabs.warOnClose to true , browser.warnOnQuit to true, and browser.showQuitWarning to true. You might also want to set browser.warnOnRestart to true. That should hopefully take care of the problems for anyone bothered by it not displaying a box when you close the browser. At least they seem to have 'mostly' fixed the memory leak issues from Firefox 3.6.
  23. It would seem that link is now dead for some reason, here's a working link to the Panels video:
  24. I was going to watch it until I read that it actually sucks. Shame really as it had looked rather good. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/sucker-punch
  25. Well mine's seeding to someone at around 10-25 kb/s. Pretty slow but at least it's doing something. Ah right. I hadn't download it from the main page until now (I was waiting for the torrent to grab every episode at once), so when I saw the Machinima logo I assumed it was from Machinima.com. My mistake.
