Can't put it better than Rarity. Just hold on, Jeb. One day is nothing when you have your entire life to look forward to. One day's frutstration will go away and be forgotten. Just remember that eventually - and soon - you WILL get that reward. You will get what you need and want so much and you will get it many many times over. As for yesterday... scratch it off and don't look back... Regards

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens [SPOILERS]
Vapymid replied to Alyxx Thorne's topic in Free-For-All
Not, it's not, actually... TFA, or Episode 7, as you call it, is nothing but a bit of Star Wars porn for aficionados - aw! a cude droid! oh! a Death Star! oi, look - a lightsaber, an X-wing, a Tie fighter, a... ahhh... But once you look into it after the initial euphoria wears off - it's actually nothing. A recycled, contrived and disjointed plot, forgettable characters, flat jokes, stupid dialogue. The prequels at least had the grandeur of vision behind them, all the political intrigue, the insight into the Galazy, how it worked, how it lived, how it fought. The prequels made Clone Wars possible and allowed the best and most interesting of the EU books to appear. TFA on the other hand does not show anything about the Galaxy, its whys and wherefores. So, I can easily forgive the faults of the prequels as movies because they have the galactic plot to prop them up. With TFA, once you take away the faults of it as a movie - there's nothing left. Regards -
That you persevere with her, where most other people would have given up long time ago and gone in search of a lower hanging fruit says a lot to me about you as well. But don't be too skeptical about women in general... I know at least two, whom I'd want to remain in my life forever and I didn't exactly set out on a quest around the world to find them (even though, geographically speaking, some may question whether I really didn't ) Anyway, what I'm saying is - there are good women around, who a man would gladly kill or die for and it would be worth it... Regards

Ah, good to know you're alright! Hope you won't get stuck on that island, cut off from the mainland by bad weather, though... That's how a lot of horror stories or films start, isn't it? Regards
-
Given what's happening with the weather up in the North these days - Binky, I hope you're alright there mate? Regards

I, for one, am not jealous. Not at all! *hisses and grinds his teeth* Ah, Jeb... So much for you to discover and experience... Way to go, my girl! Makes me feel so happy for you. Regards

Ah, they come in peace now? RDZu04v7_hc As if I believe them! Beware of machines bearing gifts! Regards

Oh. This is so good! And in only one day. My dear Jeb, I am lost for words... I love this so much! The melodic parts are so beautiful... And now you are so confident with the instrumentation and drums... Mmm... Geez, old Vappy will just sit here in the corner for a while, hat in hand, listening to your sweet sounds and marveling at your talents... Regards

Well, he's our only hope then! But, Alyxx, yes - you got the essence of my grudge against that movie captured fairly accurately. Regards -
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens [SPOILERS]
Vapymid replied to Alyxx Thorne's topic in Free-For-All
@Jeb: Well, I did enjoy the spectacle, the eye-candy and the 3D - I love stereo vision, you know... But I lost the connection with the movie and the characters quite early into the film this time... @Alyxx: I don't mind humour either, when it's witty and there is a balanced measure of it. I don't like it when it turns the movie into a self-referential fan in-joke fest, though... @Pinkie: Well, I'm not saying that... I actually think the Prequels are far superior to TFA That basically killed it for me outright. I wanted to see a NEW episode, not a hollowed out remake of the original movie. Which is basically what TFA is. Except they couldn't even do it right this time. The main problem is that the movie totally lacks any semblance of a plot. There simply is no reason why finding a retired grumpy old man and reuniting him with his long lost toy, might be so important. Even if it is - there is no reason why the task of sending the said toy to him could not have been given to an Amazon delivery drone... Even with all that - the whole movie tries to build itself around "we need to find Luke" so hard. Yet, to find Luke they pretty much just had to plug R2D2 into a wall socket. Oh, but - oi, look! There's another of dem Deathstars in dem thar space! Nevermind, just shoot the bugger, that's what the public wants... I could have closed my eyes on a lot of plot holes and little inconsistencies. And the bad dialogue and lame jokes and wooden acting - it's Star Wars, after all... But the absence of any cohesive plot and the ripping off of the original's scenes - that proved too much for me to bear, sorry... Regards -
But given how many offspring you'll have from this one-night stand - I'm sure the authorities will give you a free house and a good benefits package. Always a silver lining there, somewhere... Regards

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens [SPOILERS]
Vapymid replied to Alyxx Thorne's topic in Free-For-All
Alright, I'll be a detractor here... I'd say, as a Star Wars movie I rate this lower than the Return of the Jedi. That means pretty low in my eyes, cause the ROTJ was the worst of them all already. As a standalone movie - it's OK. Spectacular, pretty, loud entertainment. Excellent and competent use of 3D, too... As a SW movie - total rubbish. Not a single original part in it - it is just a collection of rehashed and recycled scenes from other episodes, every prop, every gag is a tired SW cliché with a bit of Star Trekiness added. Flat characters - I haven't felt any sympathy to any of them, they might have all been chopped to pieces and I would have simply smiled. Flat, cartoonish "villain" and his totally incompetent boss who might have come from an Avengers script. Implausible and inconsequential cause for which I couldn't care less... And of course, a total absence of any plot. People love to disparage the "prequels" and, yes, those were mediocre movies - but they were excellent SW movies. They had a plot and meaning and atmosphere. The Force Awakens has none of these. I laughed when Han Solo got stuck like a pig, because a) it was so predictable and b) because of the expression on Ford's face that said "Thank the Force - I'm out of here!" What I feared the most - that it will be turned into a bland Disney's Aladdin in Space safe entertainment flick - has unfortunately happened... Oh, well... Regards -
Awww! Such a pretty lily! She seems to like you, Jeb - all opening up for you, happy under your motherly care. Oh, you can make a gif animation out of this - that would look nice, I think OT: Fiddling with a DSLR when I should be getting ready for work instead... Regards

"And though I said, 'You don't exist' She grasped me firmly by the wrist And threw me down upon my back And strapped me to her torture rack" If you're an illusion... Perhaps, painted by light on finest gold particles suspended in the air? - you're the nicest illusion I've ever seen! You exist in our minds here, Jeb, so - who cares about books or magazines? Regards

He sounds like a creep... Please stay away from him. If you give him anything he'll keep pestering you for your nude photos, cause that's what he really wants... Just tell him to go screw himself... Regards

Killing wasps is not a good strategy. When crushed they release pheromones that summon other wasps to come and confront the threat. Just ignore it or puff it away if it looks like it's trying to get into your mouth... In August, I had lunch in the Jersey Zoo and decided to sit outside (there was a clue for me - everybody else was huddled inside the stuffy restaurant hall, even though the day was nice and pleasant) so, no sooner I got my food on the table and sat down, I got surrounded with wasps - 20 of them, at least... Well, I couldn't exactly allow my self to be seen running away with my tail between my legs, could I? So, I sat there, thoroughly enjoying the food and the beer and... the company of wasps. I like wasps - they are beautiful! Regards
-
Yes, it's the first one for me too... For a disease research charity - $5,000 means a few nice trips to a posh restaurant for the executive management... Nothing else will be accomplished... Sorry, for being cynical but most of such "charities" simply are lobby groups for the industry. Regards

Aww... that's so nice! A lucky fellow... I really like cats... even though the fur gets everywhere Ah, those memories... That cat I drew - when he was very little, he used to use my forearms as his teething toys... nom-nom-nom - in one direction first, then - nom-nom-nom-nom in the other. My arms looked like I was a heroine junkie for a couple of months But, thank you.... I did draw some more, a while ago... I was inspired by your dragons, actually Here, an offering of a Puffer fish to an untamed poison dragon And... did it do any good for this character? It appears so! Oh, just have to clarify - I drew it all in pencil, then used a painting algorithm program to process the drawings... Regards

@Kyou - that was strangely beautiful... Thank you. By a some inexplicable association in my mind it reminded me of this song: Heart-carved tree trunk, Yankee bayonet A sweetheart left behind Far from the hills of the sea-swelled Carolinas That's where my true love lies Look for me when the sun-bright swallow Sings upon the birch bough high But you are in the ground with the voles and the weevils All a'chew on your bones so dry But when the sun breaks To no more bulletin battle-cry Then will you make a grave For I will be home then I will be home then I will be home then I will be home then Then When I was a girl how the hills of Oconee Made a seam to hem me in There at the fair when our eyes caught, careless Got my heart right pierced by a pin But oh, did you see all the dead of Manassas All the bellies and the bones and the bile Though I lingered here with the blankets barren And my own belly big with a child But when the sun breaks To no more bulletin battle-cry Then will you make a grave For I will be home then I will be home then I will be home then I will be home then Stems and bones and stone walls too Could keep me from you Scaly skin is all too few To keep me from you But oh, my love, though our bodies may be parted Though our skin may not touch skin Look for me with the sun-bright sparrow I will come on the breath of the wind Songwriters COLIN MELOY Regards

Geez! The would certainly be a big twist for me, I have to tell ya! *gropes himself to double-check urgently* Whew! You gave me a scare, Jeb... No, I'm not THAT kind of guy! What a relief! Vegeto-Vascular Disorder, that's what it was. Basically, after drinking 12.5 pints in one night, I had more beer than blood in my arteries, so I nearly passed out on the following day The indiscretions of youth, I suppose... hehe... OT: Typing this post Regards

How would one go about eating their sweet love? Well, like this, of course OIy8jcaaxoA "I'll cut you, divide you Into tender pieces No wings to fly away Upon my dear" And a little treat afterwards... Regards

You are crossing the International Date line, so you skip a day - a bit of time travel for you This thing managed to confuse the avionics in one of the most advanced US fighter plane recently, so... So, your return flight will be at night. Hope you'll see some thunderstorms and/or the Moon. I love night time flights like that... If thunderstorms - they are just spectacular at night. Depending on how close the Cb cloud is... When you see the entire cloud lighting up from inside - you can all the little details and beautiful and menacing towers and features and wisps of vapour. Bot for such a fleeting moment... So you're sitting there and craving for more and can't keep your eyes off the window... And if there is a large moon - that's so serene and profound. That bluish tint of the light that just gives the whiteness of the clouds a little otherwordly glow... And the contrast against the blackness of the sky above and the ocean below... Sometimes you can also see the reflections from the waves... And - sometimes you can have both the lightning storm and the Moon all at once Please tell us how it was, afterwards! Regards
-
Yeah, what can I possibly say on topic? "Typing a post on this forum" case that's what I'm doing right now, isn't it? Ah, heart attack... I haven't had any... But I had the next best thing - VVD, hehe So I know what a low blood pressure feels like... Add to that an extreme pain in the heart an it's really really not nice... Regards
-
Why? Because of CCTV, of course... Regards
-
@AP_Pastor: oh, man... Heart attack is an awfully painful, protracted and unpleasant way to die... Better enjoy you glass of champagne on your way down in good heath and be blown to smithereens, believe me... And impact against water at those speed is no different to flying into a concrete wall... So, quite a good way to go, actually... Regards
