Leap Day Update

Here’s some news with what’s going on. First, the next Ross Rants and Game Dungeon are running late, I hope to have a video out in a few days though. The Ross Rants episode almost got scrapped since the camera screwed up with the focus and left most of the footage blurry, but I think I can somewhat salvage it. It can be pretty demoralizing to have to throw out hours of footage. So the visual quality on the next one may not be the best, but it probably won’t be noticeable at resolutions 480 and below.

Second, lots of people have sent Darkspore letters, though I haven’t received any contact info for other means, like business emails. This is something I’m going to keep going, I plan on making a video dedicated to killing games probably in a couple months, with a more planned out campaign behind it. In the meantime, any ideas for how to contact EA would be appreciated.

Finally, as a reminder, the next videochat will be 4pm EST on Mar. 6th. Additionally, my girlfriend Magda has expressed interest in appearing for a short time on the next chat and can answer some questions if you’re interested in asking her something. More videos coming and more news on the 6th!

EDIT:
Magda has postponed her appearance on the next videochat, but might still appear in a future one. Also, there will be more Planetside 2 news this month.

Since you're looking for ideas, how about mailing EA empty game cases of games they've killed, or are about to kill? Combined with an obituary, and a note asking them to stop killing games, I think it might have an impact. If the game was never distributed physically, maybe a printed out promotional image, or paraphernalia?

On the note of contact information, here's all I could find. I don't know what, if any of this, is what you're looking for. Except for their work Emails, of course, though these are their generic work Emails and they may or may not actually use them. I didn't have much time to look, but I'll be looking more later today.

If anybody wants to join me in the search, here's the guide I've been following to find Emails. Brute force will work a lot better with a couple extra sets of hands.

So far, the Email format seems to be [email protected]. I tried it with each executive and got no failure notifications. I haven't tried board members yet, but I imagine not only will that work, you could probably adapt that to any member of the company.

Ross said that EA employees ignore/delete emails everyday so emailing them to stop killing games would be futile. While email addresses are better then nothing what we're looking for are business addresses so we can send letters to EA's offices.

I'm not saying I started the fire. But I most certain poured gasoline on it.

Yes, business emails. Emails are easily ignored, physical letters is a different deal and those letters have to be sent to their business addresses(location).

I could've sworn Ross said EA employees ignore/delete emails everyday. I double checked his the Darkspore RGD episode and he doesn't say anything like that. I guess I must have confused it with ignoring Reddit posts which he does mentioned in the Darkspore RGD episode.

So do business emails give us another avenue of contacting EA? Can people send emails to these business emails if they can't afford to send a letter? I think I might do both for efficiency sake.

I thought he did, too, then said it was still better than nothing. Maybe in the thread? Either way, doesn't matter. I found contact info because he wanted it, not because I thought it would work. I don't think it'll do much.

I'm planning on just sending letters. I don't think Email will do anything, and the temptation to Email-bomb them is too strong. I'd use social media too, but... I'm kinda already blocked from EA's Twitter. (Not related to this. I... Was not satisfied with Sim City.)

I have confirmed all those Email addresses. They do work, and my error reporting in the case of a non-existant address returns in four seconds, so there's no chance of a false positive. Go nuts.

I wonder how many people are in the same boat as you for that

I like the idea of sending empty game cases. Sadly I don't own any EA games that fill the criteria, unless PS2 games with optional online play count?

You really have a sadistic attitude sometimes, don't you? There wasn't even a pinch of effort going to into arguing, regardless of what you think. Actually, not even going to bother. Not worth my time(the 20 daily minutes I spend reading posts here is better spent elsewhere).

It's important to get it to the *right* place. Emails are generally cared about less than physical mail. The best anyone can do to a business is spam their physical mailboxes rather than the internet mails. More noticeable and clutters up easily, causing distress and worry. Electronic mail on the other hand is unnoticeable and easily removed, even if not automatically.

If efficiency is the plan here, emailing isn't very efficient. Then again, EA might not even have a post-office setup. Who knows. Maybe they only get emails.

Alright I'm gonna get my questions for Ross in if that's alright.

1. Do you think that there will eventually be a revolt against Valve due to negative press and lack of communication from them? Recently I ran across quite a lot people who fucking hate Valve right now.

2. What are your thoughts on concept of video game academia? I find the idea of writing about certain aspects of video games in academic setting to be fascinating. Sadly video game academia doesn't really exist as much as I would like it to. This won't stop me from writing about video game on academic level however.

3. Do you have any more great stories that you plan to save for a Game Dungeon? I really liked the Go To Hell RGD episode where you talked about how you and metal dave bought souls of high schoolers with candy. That was amazing btw. I wished I had thought of that.

I'm not saying I started the fire. But I most certain poured gasoline on it.

Guys, sending letters is still the priority. Sending emails or using other contact info is a secondary measure, especially for people who can't afford to send letters. I do think online petitions are a waste of time however, since I've never heard of those changing anything. The idea is to find some avenue of getting attention of either EA or some sort of press. Anything else is likely wasted effort.

I'm not against the idea, but I basically have no intel as to who it would be effective to send it to, or if it would reach the intended recipient. Maybe see if there's an official customer service mailing address? While that's normally a bad place to send messages because they're designed to suppress them, it might work for physical objects.

On the note of contact information, here's all I could find.
This looks very promising, however I'm not fully comfortable with using these emails until we can confirm these are actually managers or executives, and not just some employee with a similar name. For example "awilson" could be an Alan Wilson in accounting. Let me know if you can verify any of these.

Customer service is one place, but I'd say Chris Bruzzo is another good option.

Glad to be of service. As for verification, Andrew Wilson's email is listed by CEOemail.com, that's how I got the format for the others. I can't speak to the other people on the list, though.

Yeah thanks for all the effort, guys. I haven't written a letter in years, if only I lived close enough to an EA office.

No other mention of Magda's former planned appearance? What happened, did we scare her off? Did she have other duties?

Did she just change her mind? Does she hate us? Why you have forsaken us, Magda? When do we get to seeee?

Awww... Otto. This decision comes from a few things. Truth is I got nervous about appearing in front of thousands of viewers - eventually, but that's just one element of it. ;) Please be understanding. I'll show up on the next chat, most probably. Meanwhile, I also have other plan for more direct contact with people. :)

I think it goes without saying, but I hope you don't feel compelled to appear on one of the videos just because of a demand for it whatever. I reckon the majority of us would understand entirely. The internet is weird.

It can mean two things. You just want to make me feel good about not showing up and choosing when I want to or you want to say that you and others are not interested that much in seeing me on a camera. I understand both opinions.

I wanted to show up for the people who really want to see me, I still want to. Next time, with better timing ;)
