Are you confessing to having shirked your duty in the war on spambots?

@TB There is an old DM with a write-up i want to dig up for someone else that disappeared after the website update. Is there anyway to retrieve it?

Unfortunately not, the data pre-transfer has been long deleted.

Is this forum still safe to post on at this point?

To be quite frank, this website is a mess; the layout is full of overlapping boxes and other unsightly features, the quote button is broken, embeds don't work properly, title pages don't show up half the time. I'm going to assume that this site has not seen any cosmetic upgrades since at least a year, possibly longer. Has it seen regular security upgrades in that period? Is someone able to guarantee that our accounts are as safe as they can be at the moment?

@Mira the website and its back-end are all using the latest updates from the vendor. We try to patch as soon as a security update is available. We moved to a new server OS when the last one depreciated. The IPB updates are part of the reason for the visual and functional glitches. Each time they push a security update it's also bundled with a boat-load of template and functionality changes that aren't backwards compatible. We've asked for a separate security channel, but that's not happening.

It is simply a matter of resources and time. For what its worth I focus what time I have on the security side. This is a volunteer effort without the backing of corporate money. If you know any trusted full-stack developers looking to do pro-bono work, I'm always happy to talk to them. No snark intended, we could use a front-end dev.

@TB I have almost no experience in web dev, but I'm generally pretty good at figuring things out as I go... For reference to my learning ability, it took me about 6 hours to modify a GPU driver to get a powerPC exclusive GPU to work without any issue in a standard PC back in the late 90's.

I'd be willing to give it a crack if you're willing to take the chance. If not, no worries. The busted quoting feature has been bugging me for years though, so I do have motivation.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.
