I stand by my barely coherent rant that I posted last year. (and my vote for "nothing much will happen")

Honestly, I don't know many people outside of this site that have ever been tested in any form for their personality... I have a feeling I would be a rather normal INTP from here, and get along with those they would.

The stock coolers will always run between 10°c and 30°c hotter than almost any aftermarket cooler. If you want your system to last, use less electricity, and be a lot more stable, get an aftermarket. The only use for a stock cooler IMO is for if you're still waiting for the aftermarket one to arrive in the mail, and you really want to check your email.

Actually, the Mushkin RAM does have a 13ms offering... (and it's faster+cheaper to boot) You just need to stop limiting your searches to the lowest speeds. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226709 I have found Corsair to be OK, but they have been having issues with quality control recently, be prepared for a DOA stick and a 6 week RMA process. (about 1 in ~150 have this issue with Corsair DDR4 RAM from what I've been able to deduce, they're really doing their best to hide their QC issues) Also, those sticks you linked to aren't a true 13ms set; they're actually 'overclocked' 15ms sticks. If you see a timing of 13-15-15-28, that's 15ms RAM that will burn out faster than something with a 13-13-13-35, and it's the same real-world speed. HyperX is overpriced IMO. They're comparable to ram that is 5-10% less expensive. You're paying the extra money for a name, and nothing else. HyperX is reliable, and decent QC. (about 1 in ~500 will have a DOA stick, this is industry average) I personally don't trust RAM that doesn't give a full list of the timings though, so I wouldn't go for this even if it was a lower price than others. (the only timing it gives is the CAS, not the other numbers) Mushkin has the best QC of any solid state memory manufacturer I've heard of. (1 in ~10000 sticks DOA, and usually a 1-2 week turnaround with the manufacturer warranty) 2x sticks will always outperform any single stick. (just make sure you're putting them in the proper slots on the motherboard so they are on separate channels) 4x sticks may or may not outperform 2x, depending on the motherboard RAM channels. (it will never perform worse though) Final thought: Unless you're running synthetic benchmarks, you're not likely to ever be able to tell the difference between the best DDR4 RAM @4200MHz, and a good set of DDR4 @2400MHz.

Yeah, apart from sticking to respected motherboard brands, (ASUS, ASRock, MSI, etc.) and decent build quality cases, (Rosewill, Thermaltake, Raidmax, Lian Li, etc.) it's a fairly flexible selection for those components. Don't skimp on the PSU though... Rosewill Capstone/Quark/Photon Series are excellent quality for lower price, I suggest padding the wattage by 200w over what you need, (will typically change the PSU from a 2-5 year lifespan to 7-15 years) getting something that has at least an 80+ Silver rating, and modular cabling is very nice to have. RAM is one you don't need to worry much about. If it has the specs you're looking for, and isn't DOA, you'll have a 1 in 100m chance of it not outlasting the entire rest of your system. Mushkin, Adata, Geil, G.Skill, Patriot, PNY, Silicon Power, Team Group... All are good brands, and most have very low prices. (I personally recommend Mushkin for total 'made in USA' reliability and top-end quality control, and G.Skill for highest possible performance) For CPU coolers, just simply getting ANY aftermarket cooler will be significantly better than using an included heatsink. ($30-$40 range will give the best bang for the buck for air cooling) Thermal paste you need to be picky about though. Prolimatech PK-3 is the best out there, but any in the PK series will do extremely well, and they're cheaper than almost all the other thermal paste available.

I prefer Nvidia myself, and will not buy an AMD for my own use, but other people have different requirements. They aren't actually overpriced... They generally use a generation newer in manufacturing tech, (or did until the newest RX 400 series AMD cards came out) are far more thermally stable, (I used to literally light their cards on fire for 15 minutes while gaming to show them off back when I had lots of spares, they still have a much higher thermal tolerance rating) generally have MUCH better drivers, (even in Linux as of about 16 months ago, which used to be an AMD-only area) are supported heavily by the manufacturer for longer than AMD, (can still get recently updated drivers for the GT 420 from 2010, AMD only has recent updates for the 28nm fab tech versions of the HD 7000 cards from 2012 and newer) and have a higher top-end performance capability. (Intel vs AMD is the same as Nvidia vs AMD, higher performance and cost vs lower performance and cost) Right now a $200 GTX 1060 will outperform the top-of-the-line R9 Fury X for $380. The thing is, he ignores proper crop rotation. With proper crop rotation you remove nutrients from the soil, then return them in equal amounts, and never need fertilizers. I am fortunate enough to be descended from some of the pioneers of proper crop rotation, and I can tell you that it's hard to find farmers that do it right. There are also natural fertilizer systems in place on this planet that are constantly being curtailed by mankind. One of these is natural flooding. For example, look at the historical floodplains for the Missouri river; these are now the most productive farmlands in the USA. They are slowly dwindling in productivity though, and most of the smart farmers are linking it properly to the excessive control over the natural flooding cycle. If flooding was allowed to occur once every 20 years, productivity of those farmlands would be stabilized. (of course the government is the one that controls this, and the farmers have no say) The theories this guy is using are only useful for very specific circumstances, and are only better than the absolute least intelligent farmer's standards.

Honestly can't find anything wrong with what he said in that video, parallels much of what I've been saying for years. Unfortunately he also said time would end in 2012, so... Yeah.

Coming from a family of farmers, but never actually being one myself, (apart from small to medium sized gardens) I can say that this only works in very specific circumstances, and only for a very select set of plants. If you need to produce large amounts of a particular crop to feed the barely not-starving masses cheaply, you can't use the method you described. There simply isn't enough produced. Corn, wheat, soybeans, etc, all need very specific conditions for mass production, and we already know exactly how to do it. We aren't looking to gain that extra 0.1% in quality, we're looking to gain that extra 5000-100000% quantity. (those quantities aren't exaggerations) In short: It sounds good on paper, but is the opposite of what's needed today on this planet. We need more quantity, not imperceptibly higher quality.

Yeah, Windows 7 works just fine on the DDR4 Intel builds. (just make sure to download all drivers direct from the manufacturers, the ones provided by Windows Update are more likely than not out of date)

The Intel will be stressed far less, and 16GB is more than enough RAM for recording & editing. Just make sure you put a decent GPU in it. (something in the 900 series of Nvidia GPUs, or an AMD R9)

Looks like the game got lost when Sierra went under... Unfortunate. Strangely there was a DMCA claim sent to Google to remove the ModDB site for SWAT 4 from the listings when searching for SWAT 4. I would recommend looking through the DMCA claim list of sites when searching for this game, as there may be some legal sellers that were inappropriately blocked by it. (it's happened MANY times in the past)

So far the only AMD motherboards that support DDR4 are very expensive, and it's a rather juryrigged system to get it working. (and I've been hearing a lot about issues that have arisen because of it) If you're comparing the AMD to an Intel board that only has DDR3 support, then the AMD is superior. Either get an Intel DDR4 system, or get an AMD, that is my recommendation.

I'm not a fan of consoles, but otherwise I agree. You're a man of poor taste so nobody is surprised. And you're incapable of not trying to insult me in particular. I think you need to see someone about your obsession with me. All analog sticks must be in the center of the controller, one right next to the other. The Xbox controller is utter heresy used by perverse deviants that have fallen from the grace of our lord Sony. I mean what in the name of the holy PS2 is going on with it's left analog stick? Okay imagine the Xbox 360's controller scheme as a person's face. Do people normally have their left eyeball over on the leftmost side of their forehead and rotated 45 degrees? No! they don't and why is the d-pad in the left analog stick's spot? It should be in the left portion of the controller as mandated by our lord and savior Sony. For their sins our lord Sony has inflicted seven red rings of death upon the Xbox heretics. They know what they did. Xbox Controllers may be designed by heretics but like the Borg they're atleast somewhat human I think anyway. Nintendo controllers meanwhile are Lovecraftian nightmares constructed by Cthulhu himself and anyone who takes an unfortunate glimpse into the eyes of these unholy manifestations will be forever tainted. At which point there is no salvation for them. I said I wasn't a fan of consoles, so you go on a rant about the various console controllers that I don't particularly like? Really, there are only 2 things that console controllers are better at... Simplified analog joystick input, and an all-in-one control system. Everything else is easier to use mouse+keyboard or dedicated joystick/racing wheel for. What I'm saying is that controllers are good for platforming and simplified racing/flight games, everything else is better served by not going into controller territory. (this is coming from someone who has extensively used every console and controller that has been on the market since the original Atari)

But if all you get is some poster you get to look at somewhere in the game, it really isn't affecting anything... It's an extremely minor visual acknowledgement that "yay, I did something that affects nothing". Which is why I suggested Wasteland 2, as most choices affect the economy, everyone's perception of you, and in some cases limit or expand your options for other interactions with others in the game. (and it feels more like a real consequence for your actions than "you get to see a poster")

They didn't care. How many different ways can I say this simple sentence? They didn't want to believe that I had what I claimed, and were unwilling to even consider it. I could have literally shoved the design specs and/or math in their faces and then gotten arrested for assault, but they still wouldn't have paid any attention to the science. THEY DIDN'T CARE!!! Please stop trying to find ways to make it my fault that they didn't consider the tech.

You should check out Wasteland 2... The very first mission is choosing between food and water for the entire state, and it seriously affects the gameplay in many ways. (not all are noticeable, but many are) Consequences for choices made in RPGs is one thing that has been sorely lacking in almost all RPGs, and I feel that it seriously pulls me out of immersion when there aren't any consequences or benefits for my actions. (like killing all the bandits across the entire Mojave in Fallout NV, and nothing changes)

As long as it isn't first level Myst... (I never did figure out what I was supposed to do there)

Star Trek Online. It'll be this for the foreseeable future... I'm hosting an event tomorrow for my fleet that basically puts us in sub-par ships, and throws us at difficult enemies for mediocre rewards, just because it's fun.
