  1. Company of Heroes and AOE 2 are my favourite RTSs. I'm yet to try Rise of Nations though.
  2. Fallout 1 and 2 were so much better than Baldur's Gate in my opinion, the only thing I liked about BG was the hand-painted backgrounds. Real-time with pause combat was terrible seeing as it was based off of D&D rules and the storyline was the same story Bioware have told throughout their entire existence, perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had played it before DA:O. My fave medieval iso CRPG of that time would have to be Icewind Dale, with Planescape and Fallout 1/2 tying for best isometric cRPG ever made. Wasteland 2 will hopefully mean I have a new top game though. edit- late reply but Mine was too. Possibly the worst way to get into the game series, what a horrendous port. At least it's modding community got me into PC gaming.
  3. Checking the forums in between rounds of Quake Live. Getting my arse handed to me as well.
  4. Step 1: Pirate game Step 2: Install Xfire Your game is now better than a Steam copy. Not happening, the rights for that game are controlled by way too many groups.
  5. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-11326-Report--Next-Xbox-is-Like--Two-PCs-Taped-Together%20---Requires-Always-On-Net-Connection.html Xbox journalists confirmed for technologically retarded.
  6. Huh... and I thought Mass Effect fans were zealots. At least they're not trying to analyse the makeup of Vortigaunt piss. COUGHTALIMANCERSCOUGH
  7. Yeah GOG lets you play your games and do whatever you like with them. And it doesn't force you to use a client. But how is that offering a better service as opposed to piracy? It gives you the game exactly as you would get it if you pirated it (DRM-free etc.), except -The game will now work with Windows 7/ Vista/ XP thanks to some coding by the GOG team. -If it's DOS it'll have a DOSbox wrapper, simplifying the need to know anything about DOSbox. -Often includes extras such as: Soundtracks, wallpapers, avatars, dev interviews, PDF version of the manual and more. -Treats their customers with respect. -Constantly giving away free games, I already have 11 free games from the mere year I've had an account on GOG. -Mod community support. -Unlimited downloads at your convenience. -You own the game, rather than a license. -GOGmixes, forums and more. How is making an xFire clone that controls whether or not you can play games a better service than piracy?

  9. where you don't keep all your weapons nor stick with very few I seem to remember having 9 weapon slots in Fallout 3. And 4 in Borderlands. 4 is sufficient for me as it allows for a variety of playstyles to hop between- Sniper for long range, Rifle for mid-range spray, Shotgun for close range and Pistol for weak enemies you don't want to waste ammo on. 2 weapons would only work for me in a squad based game because instead of having one guy that can approach a situation, you have a few guys that do the same job as Gordon Freeman's arsenal does. The amount I want Bioshock: Infinite seems to go from not-at-all to I-really-want-this-game almost every week.
  10. Anyone notice how they've changed all instances of the word "audio" into "VGS" for April fools. I laughed so hard when I saw it.
  11. The only place I think I'd find it good would be in squad based FPS games, like Rainbow Six.
  12. Except I've never played a single player game that's done it "right".
  13. Take DNF though, it may as well have had a weapon wheel because they give you the exact weapon you need for each encounter. Almost all games just have it in to accommodate consoles and because it's popular.

  15. They should lose profits by pulling this crap. Capatilism works by consumers being smart, but I doubt even half of you have read your countries code of consumer rights.

  17. This always happens, I hear about something and then suddenly I see it everywhere. I just found out about the Heavy Metal magazine and then I come into this thread.
  18. On a school computer, I hate Mondays. It's Sunday for all the news outlets so I have nothing to read.
  19. I LEFT TWO IMAGES. YOU HAVEN'T DISPROVEN ME IF I HAVE PROOF YOU'RE WRONG. STEP 1: TURN OFF INTERNET ACCESS STEP 2: RESTART PC STEP 3: START STEAM STEP 4: THERE IS NO STEP FOUR BECAUSE IT ISN'T WORKING. OR MAYBE YOU COULD BASH YOUR HEAD AGAINST A WALL AND GO TO SLEEP LIKE I'M ABOUT TO DO.
  20. I'd like to know how many people on this site actually know where that soundclip came from.
  21. Did you miss this bit? START YOUR COMPUTER WITH NO INTERNET ACCESS. THEN START UP STEAM. OKAY?
  22. But you have to be online to be able to start it in offline mode. This is what happens if you try to log in without internet access- So you didn't disprove anything.
  23. What's that proving.
  24. Starting from offline does not work. Full stop. You have to be online and restart in offline mode.
  25. No. Steam is good but it's in no way the pinnacle of excellence when it comes to user experience. Intrusive DRM, no global price policy, "cannot find Steam", "The servers are too busy to access this game", bad offline mode etc. the list goes on. Steam is good for its sales and the load of extras that come with it.
