Who are you to judge? Even if you are a programmer you know absolutely nothing about this engine's inner workings. Hell can you even tell whether the rendering engine is acting up or the drivers that handle its communication with the hardware? I know I can't. Besides, all software that has a source code available is redeemable because it can be fixed and improved. Carmack's already said he's not supporting the PC, any upgrades will be fine-tuned for consoles.

Didn't they "go back to the PC" with Bulletstorm? That game was supposed to be their return to form but what did the PC platform get? A GfWL crippled game with encrypted config files and could only dream about a demo while the other two release platforms got one with no fuss. Formerly PCF did a good job with the game itself though. Epic Games are only a shadow of what they used to be. They will never create such masterpieces as Unreal or Unreal Tournament ever again, nor (Do I dare say it?) Jazz Jackrabbit 1/2, those days are gone. Personally I hope they will not make an Unreal 3 just to spare the original Unreal 1 its soul and dignity (Yes, I pretend Unreal 2 never happened.). I agree that CliffyB is a gigantic moron, but unlike Bulletstorm this is PC exclusive. I'm expecting either a F2P UT or a beautiful tech demo game.

Are we talking about combat? If so - Dark Messiah, Magicka, Xeno Clash, Mount & Blade, Frozen Synapse, Jagged Alliance 2, PoP. I can't think of anything Fable did right regarding general gameplay though, care to specifiy?

Well Chuck, Call of Pripyat and Shadow of Chernobyl would be my two favourite S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, Clear Sky is good (some fans wont agree with me here) but it's not quite on the level of the other two. As a series I'd rate it next to Half Life due to how god damn amazing it is, so many awesome innovations that still aren't in any modern game make it so unique, not to mention the brilliant atmosphere. Mechanically it's a bit dodgy and you have to use your brains to solve quite a few missions, it's also quite buggy and looks fairly ugly to compensate for it's huge areas. To fix that just install this - http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 - It's a very nice mod that makes the game look beautiful, loads of graphics options, AI fixes, mission fixes, bug fixes, new textures, more music, added gameplay elements etc. etc. It's pretty much the only must-install mod for the game though it's completely playable without it (it's also been better optimized than the original game, I noticed a smoother FPS with it installed).

Just got back from the Hunger Games, 10/10 would watch again.

Editing the config file gives you more options, regardless of the game. I do think they should add AA options to the menu screen though. And that picture of the "map" is placeholder concept art.

It tells you the name. Video options has Vsync, resolutions and windowed/fullscreen mode options. Gameplay settings has FOV options, weapon size options etc. For all other options be a PC gamer and Edit the config.
