Awesome New Games Coming Out!

Recommended Posts

I've seen some badass trailers kicking around on youtube, there are some games I've seen that I'm considering pre-ordering (haha not really I'm too poor) but if you haven't seen them here they are, tell me what you think, and any other games that are coming out and are worth a look?

Brink

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-kVnw4RA80

Borderlands cross with Mirrors Edge? no other word for it... epic!

Rage

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kliY9otJ4QA

another Borderlands looking game... hmm... still looks cool though.

Portal 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s79wHKe3DDM

have you played the first game?... what... NO!?... GET THE HELL OFF THIS FORUM AND PLAY IT!!!

Batman: Arkham City

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gszKBeA-4q4

I never played Arkham Asylum but to me it looks like a dark gritty version of Sly Cooper, nothing wrong with that in my mind.

Bioshock: Infinite

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WDQ4FhslSk

a little scenery change from the first 2 Bioshocks, I can dig it

Half Life 2: Episode 3

this one doesn't actually have a trailer, probably to avoid the awkward bit at the end when they would specify a date and then write 'maybe...' afterwards in brackets but still, looks like a nice game and I found the episodes alot more entertaining then Half Life 2, valve can take as long at they want as long as they don't disappoint, which they won't.

I Am Alive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ6Aely9YrQ

yeah you are alive, then you die, then respawn, then you're alive again! and another thing, is this game one big quest for water? I dunno, but whatever this game will be, it still looks nice.

The Secret World

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsLXQEeLiI0

that title could make one helluva dirty joke, but immensity aside, this looks like a pretty fun game, sorta like a JRPG which I hope to hell it isn't but still, I had to mention it.

so that was all I had, I'd like to hear opinions and if I've missed any games, oh and I know that most of these games are FPS' and call me shallow if you want but FPS' are really all I play, well, the odd indie game has me hooked but nothing much else.

I hope Brink turns out good, but there really is no telling as a non-gameplay video shows nothing...

Meh, I had expected something else. What happened to all the parkour in the trailer? It seems like nothing more than an FPS.

That's the whole reason I invested in a brand new powerhouse computer...

Battlefield 3 is another game that's missing from the list that should be pretty good. Media is starting to roll out for it, just single-player footage right now though, but the engine sounds great (much destructability, great lighting and particle effects, etc).

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as well, that's looking really good...

Yes, looking forward to both of them.

Games I am looking forward to and will definitely buy.

FEAR 3

FEAR 2 doesn't come close to the originals but I have hopes this game will redeem the series. But I shall never forgive them for ditching manual saves and only having one checkpoint slot, that is just a dumb design choice, almost as dumb as making the glass separating Isaac from outer space in Dead Space 2 non-bulletproof.

Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution

Deus Ex is fairly good, never played Deus Ex 2 but never the less I will buy this one after a few pricedrops.

Duke Nukem Forever

Enough said.

Serious Sam 3

Been a massive fan of Sam since 2001. Croteam have VIP access to my wallet. Sam 2 was disappointing to say the least but Sam 3 is looking simply awesome from the screenshots released so far.

HL3/HL2: Ep3

Enough said.

STALKER 2

No release date or much info yet, but GSC, like Croteam, have VIP access to my wallet. I absolutely love the STALKER games. Even Clear Sky was above the surface of today's ocean of AAA titles. One thing worth noting: GSC will make women a part of the sequel's world.

Intrigue me but no guaranteed purchase.

Portal 2

I love GLaDOS, her sinister yet sterile personality, and of course her old-school-gone-modern computer voice. She sends shivers down my spine whenever she speaks. But the game itself did not capture my heart. I don't really understand what is supposed to make this the second coming of jesus. But I might pick it up after several pricedrops, who knows?

Bioshock: Infinite

The two former Bioshocks aren't all that good really, the sequel is miles better than the first. What makes me consider this title is the new setting, I love the idea. But before I go for a purchase I will need to read reviews that sing along with my tastes and favour the game on several important points.

Batman: Arkham City

Didn't play the first but I am itching to pick it up. If these two will end up in a double pack for cheap I'd definitely go for it.

Crysis 2

This used to be on my to buy list but it got downgraded after reading worrying things about its mechanics and options customization. Reviews and player comments will decide whether I invest at all in this game.

There may be more but these are the ones I can think of right now.

I for one can't wait for Dungeon Siege 3. It's a shame that it doesn't seem to look true to the series though.

I hadn't heard of quite a few of those games on your list, but I am Alive and The Secret World have definitely piqued my interest. I've been looking forward to Brink for a while now, here's hoping it's a nice break from all the militant shooters I've been playing lately.

Infinity - The Quest for Earth (http://infinity-universe.com/) is definitely something I'm looking forward to; the amount of detail and vastness they're putting forth is astounding. It's not exactly a typical indie game as they're taking support from anyone who knows some coding/art design but it looks unbelievable. Not entirely sure when it's planned to come out, probably not this year, but thought I'd mention it anyway

Orion: Prelude (http://spiralgamestudios.com/) also looks awesome as well so if you're unfamiliar I definitely suggest you check it out. Again I'm not sure when they plan to release it, but they've been doing public beta testing.

A little less mainstream, but I'm even more excited for those two releases than I have been for a lot of stuff lately.

You can't forget the new Mortal Kombat that's going to come out April 19th. It just looks amazing.

Unless I just missed it, I don't think anyone's mentioned Mass Effect 3 yet. The first trailer they put out worries me a bit, but the series in general hasn't failed to deliver yet.
