Link to one of the many articles covering the many issues with this election. Blocking inspectors from polling places, glitches in the computers, no training of the polling place personnel, having to cover partisan images after polling has started... (should've been covered in the first place) What's next, polling booths having one leg fall off if you vote for a particular candidate? What do you think?

Forms of Government/Political Parties
BTGBullseye replied to Twilight Sparkle's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
Humans naturally form small hierarchical groups... (cliques, gangs, etc) The most natural form of governance is actually a form of hierarchy, similar to a dictatorship. (that's why it's so common to see in this world) -
ATI cards really can't handle the physics used in real-time gaming, only Nvidia has decent GPU-based physics processing capabilities. (they actually have additional hardware functions that are designed for physics processing) By the way, something as low as a GT630 will max out Borderlands 2 with PhysX for about $65. (if you get the EVGA GDDR5 version, less without, more with 4GB GDDR3)

Actually, all the heat goes out the side, and I actually timed it going from 68c to 52c... Took all of 8 seconds! (most laptops take 30 sec to do that last time I checked) Now I'm just having troubles with the video card; memory overclocks, but the shader/core won't.

Just found this nice list of things that Obama and Romney support and oppose... And that's just the short list for religion only... Obama is very against all forms of freedom if you take a close look.

Yeah, I put Fedora 17 LXDE on it. (I was trying to get Fedora 17 Security Edition, but I don't have any CDs, and USB install doesn't want to work for some reason) Oh, and a couple days ago I found my thermal grease, so now my temps for my new laptop are 52c-68c. (I did a slight stress test to find out the high temps) Considering the processor and GPU are rated for 100c+, that's not bad is it?

If the software is no longer supported by the company that holds the copyright it is abandonware, and is legally shared in any form with anyone.

This just in, an new version of ACTA for the Canadians... CETA. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/10/ceta-replicates-acta

It's not just the gay marriage thing... Obama is forcing Catholic hospitals to perform abortions on the whim of the person showing up. (Obamacare) Yes, I said CATHOLIC hospitals. That's around half of the country's hospital system, which is CATHOLIC, and is entirely unfunded by the government. The government is forcing a violation of a religion, simply because they can and do provide medical care. Separation of church and state was meant to protect the church from the government, not the other way around. (look it up if you don't believe me)

But that would make all history previous to 21/12/2012 invalid. So?
-
Have I traveled 6 years back in time or this an advanced spambot with a fallacy? Exactly what I was thinking.
-
Just a quick little tidbit... If you vote for Obama, you aren't Catholic. The Democrats right now support things (diametrically opposite to the standings of the Republicans) that violate too many of the Catholic churches precepts. A true Catholic cannot vote Democrat.

I have a nice family tree of complete alcoholics as grandparents and everyone further back, but my parents almost never drank until I hit 21. The net result is that I have an extreme tolerance for alcohol, but no desire to get smashed. ($300 of hard booze on my 21st birthday, and I only got moderately buzzed) I occasionally have a nice custom Screwdriver as a sleep aid. (mix about 1/4 shot each of vodka, rum, Black Velvet [Canadian whiskey], and brandy with about 12 ounces of OJ)

Well, I don't know about power to the video card, but the processor does top out at 35w. (exactly as specified in it's specs) Under load battery time is supposedly around 1 hour. Damn, can't seem to find my tube of PK-1... Have to look for it later.

Did I just read that right? You think AMD is anywhere near Intel performance/quality? AMD just got up to par with 1st Gen Sandy Bridge... As for manual voltage control, the new GeForce 6XX series has automatic voltage setting, and going higher just fries the card. (they either get rid of the manual voltage settings or get rid of the 5 year warantees)

Incredible lag while multitasking on laptop
BTGBullseye replied to Doublenature's topic in Computer Hardware
The only hybrid drives I recommend at this time are Seagate. From the sound of things either the HDD is about to die, or you've got something overheating really bad and you're entire system is about to die. -
I know of a few nice PSUs that'd fit that...

BTGBullseye replied to Doublenature's topic in Computer Hardware
I'd recommend a hybrid, since right now they're about the same price as a standard drive. -
Well, I think I managed to get the cooling solution in this laptop to set, and it now has max temps of 76c. Still, that's 10c less than my old laptop... I need to replace the stock grease/pads with some PK-1...

Incredible lag while multitasking on laptop
BTGBullseye replied to Doublenature's topic in Computer Hardware
Well, you could always go for a hybrid hard drive... It's got both an SSD and a regular 7200 RPM HDD in one drive, and it isn't a significant increase in price from the regular HDDs. -
Actually, I was installing Starcraft 2 in the background when I took that screenshot. (installing using a backup disk image from my HDD, and running Avast!, so lots of processor usage) Idle temps for everything are around 43c. (when the fan is off, and it's not on a laptop cooler) Max temps I've seen are 65c when maxing the GPU and CPU loads in a stress test.

Ok, so I just got the laptop this evening and this happened... An 8.8GHz i5-3210m processor! This was just an error on the part of OpenHardwareMonitor, it's really only running at about 2.5GHz. lol

Western Digital Blue v. Green v. Black (hard drives)
BTGBullseye replied to Jusmar's topic in Computer Hardware
Yeah, you shouldn't hear a thing. -
Incredible lag while multitasking on laptop
BTGBullseye replied to Doublenature's topic in Computer Hardware
It's probly just that you were using up too much HDD bandwidth. Downloading something as big as WoW uses quite a lot of a HDD's read/write speed, and trying to play a game on top of it... Loading textures is all it takes at that point to cause lag. -
Actually, here's a real nova...
