The forum and your steam account are two different systems on different servers entirely, that's why the hack only affected the forum and another hack affected the steam accounts.

Eh, that could always be changed if he used the HD pack from the beginning, but since he doesn't he probably figured it would be best to continue using the vanilla game, for the sake of continuity.
