  1. You most certainly don't... To me it's when your mind tells you you have no hope. That nothing in the future ahead of you is going to be good or as you would want it to be. No matter what you do - only bad things will come to you. You imagine things you want most in life and then your mind takes them away from you, saying you will never have them. And then it blames you for that. Jeb is saying it's all about now... But I think - now is when you feel the torture... But the cause of it is in the future you cannot or not allow yourself to see... I am not good talking about feelings... I have to put everything into logic and rationalisation... But Jeb has laid it open for us to feel... And I have to also say - to have and see your loved one going through this... I'd take any physical pain imaginable if it would save them from that... Regards
  2. Genderpussy... Regards
  3. You should have put a pillow on his ugly mug then But you know my opinion and theory about him... Grhhhh... Ah, let those other poor things handle him now... One day he will pay for all that - one way or another... Who needs arms when there is hard wood? Regards
  4. The hat is Soviet and so a slavic ethnicity is far from being a certainty, given that the Soviet Union spread over 1/5 of the surface area of the world in its heyday Regards
  5. You know, I thought about this some more and I think I'd advise you to keep away from that guy... And tell the girl to do so as well... You never know... When someone spends so much time on an obsessive activity - they just don't have internal stops... This is the kind that might just as easily snap and go on a killing spree because his internet went out for a few minutes or because his tap dripped or for any other reason... Regards
  6. But the problem is - as any investor knows - if you don't take the risk, you will never get a return on your investment. Avoiding risk altogether does not work - you just need to think carefully and not put all the eggs in one basket and not risk at any one time more than you can afford to lose and not put good money after bad. You can never be 100% sure of anything. But if you don't invest into something - you are not walking away unharmed. You are harmed just by the fact that you gain nothing while your time on this Earth is ticking away. It's like inflation - if you hold on to your 100 dollar bill for 20 years without putting it to use - you will end up with 50 bucks or so in real money. Even though the piece of paper you're holding is the same and you haven't lost it - you have lost half its value just because of the passage of time... So... Regards
  7. Ah, the thing is - quite a lot of men would just not stop unless they are told in no uncertain terms that all is over because the woman does not love him anymore/ever. They would cling to some hope and keep pestering the lady... But being told that they are not loved gives some sense of closure for that chapter of the relationship. Especially if it's delivered to them in the proverbial "it's not you - it's me" form What would really hurt 100% of men, though - is telling them that they are lacking in the ah... bedroom department My firm opinion which is borne out by my own life experience is that porn can't do anything to a person. However, if that person has other mental or emotional problems - the obsession with porn or with certain types of it would be a symptom of that other problem. Oh, hehe... I suppose the lack of competition is what does it... And in absence of the competition - the lack of any other incentive or punishment... Кто стучится в дверь ко мне с толстой сумкой на ремне... - no longer like this, eh? Regards
  8. Well... if a "relationship" falls apart because of some porn - there wasn't much of a relationship there and there is nothing to mourn... Better end it quickly then let it linger, torturing everyone around... This girl, though... It may of course be that she just used the porn as an excuse when he started pestering her with commitment as from what you decribe - she wasn't into it at all, from the very start... But if she has indeed been so shocked from finding the pictures... well... It is the fault of those who brought her up, of course, but she is in for a tough time in life, because there is no healthy man in the world without a stash of porn somewhere. She better get over that really quick... Regards
  9. Ah... well - for me "projecting" means reaching some destination and not just dropping back to where we came from like some kind of an oversized flea Well, I could kind of agree on "projecting" if we talk about the Moon, hehe... Though, as any fule noes - it was all just a NASA conspiracy Regards
  10. @Fric - hmmm... you may be sceptical about BTG's claims but there are ways of expressing these things without resorting to ad hominem attacks... Regards
  11. This is most likely going to be the case but your nature cannot be changed, so he will have to deal with it. Yes. Well, this can be a really risky strategy. I am very cautious advising you anything, not knowing anything about your family and their personalities, but... Consider telling your mother first. You might be surprised - it's very difficult to hide this kind of thing from parents, especially mothers... She might not be as astonished as you might think. And you're always going to be her little boy - even when you're 50... Not to say that you might have in her someone who will be on your side in trying to break the news to your father... Regards
  12. Well, not quite yet... But hopefully we're on our way there... I generally share this sentiment with you and your teacher... Just want to throw in a couple of thoughts to consider. I don't think we should or have rights to talk of our species' achievements in segregation from all other species on this planet. In a way it's like an apple seed boasting about it's ingenious construction that allows a whole apple tree to grow from it... Forgetting that it took an apple tree (and the whole chain of evolution before it) to produce that little seed in the first place. So - we are standing on the shoulders of giants - from amoebae to elephants and cows and triceratops... We are the product of Earth's life and perhaps it is not so much our achievement but our duty to continue from where the Mother Nature let us go - and that brings me to the next point... Humanity faces problems when we hit the limits - of ourselves or of our environment. The issue of the lack of focus and motivation and sense of purpose is IMHO is just a sign that we've reached one of those limits again. What happens when we reach the limits of our confinement - we break through. And the obvious direction for breaking through, really, is going to space. Not with some remote control toys, but for real. I believe that this is what the "intention" of the life as a whole on Earth is. It created a species which is at last capable of controlling the matter in real time and not in evolutionary timescales... It gave us enough easy-to-reach energy by conserving the sunlight in the form of the fossil fuels for our first steps out of the crib. It kept enough fissionable materials that we can use for venturing farther away... We are the apple seed within an apple and our job is now to move away from the mother tree and plant ourselfves and grow a new tree. Somewhere... anywhere. And until we do that, life will push us subtly with one crisis after another, making us move, think, act... That is all, I think Regards
  13. Shhhhh... darling... <3 no, you don't... And it's not love's fault. And what they have isn't really love either... But, yes - move the hell out of there... Regards
  14. I'd say - if she hates sex so much, she is welcome to not have any. May even sew her snatch shut and enrol into a convent... She is as irrelevant as a rock lying on the bottom of a bog and to try and argue with the like of her is a waste of breath, in my opinion... Regards
  15. Serves him right! ...for plugging a Mac keyboard into a PC Regards
  16. Well if you so insist - we can bestow upon you the honourable title of the High Golden Prick of the Forum. Cause you're already Golden as a Mod and, well... And blessed shall be every forumite touched by your Golden Shaftness. But seriously - those two you mentioned have gone at each other's throats the moment you left, so - come back, the High Priestess of AF - and bring back the order. We shall submit, whether your Prickness shall swing upon the unruly on the high or low of your moods... Regards
  17. @Jeb - just what they all say, darling. You're the heart of this place... When you're away like that - it's like that heart has been ripped out... We want you back. Regards
  18. Shouldn't have any impact at all. Will only draw extra power when you scroll/flip the pages - but that will be the same as using the touch screen for any other purpose... Regards
  19. @Aphotic - Not her fault. It takes two to love. And when it's a genuine love - it's not cheating. Traditional it may be not - but it will be solved and they will all be happy. Regards
  20. The only problem is - when you realise you want to confess - it's already too late to back out... Regards
  21. Well, there is always Vimeo... Much classier, though, which is always a stumbling block for popularity... Regards
  22. You should be inspired by this - nothing's automatically good in fitting in with anyone, especially the majority... Regards
  23. I apologise for having been off-topic. Mea culpa, pointless to deny. I'm sorry. Username knows it was anything but unwarranted, though... OT: Got this: Will take me some time to go through, I'm afraid. Regards
  24. Oh, geez... you sound like a mod now! Having just been unbanned through a little friendly intervention, ah? Seriously, people - I've been waiting for the core members here to mature, grow up. But it doesn't seem to be happening. Just a bunch of capricious kids, wallowing in their misery and squabbling for the pettiest of reasons... An you, Username... Does it feel nice to gloat about your little "victory", yes? Rule #1, eh? "Don't be a jerk", ah? Well, that rule certainly flew right over your head... I would have said you must go and apologise to Jeb, but I'm not sure your are familiar with the concept... After all, jerks don't apologise, do they? Regards
  25. But there will be no incentive to improve if you disregard everything said about you personally. You would not be moved by criticism, nor rewarded by praise. Absolutism doesn't work with people - nothing is black and white in analogue real world. What you need to do is seek an appropriate balance without slipping to either extreme of the scale. In the situation of Meelis it is easy to be overwhelmed by self-doubt, but disregarding criticism is not going to protect him, because every new real set-back (and they will still be happening) will break through that "protection" and serve as further proof that everything is wrong and nothing good can happen, just as they all say. The result will be despair and depression and then a real failure. To maintain objectivity and protect his emotional state he needs to listen and analyse and question and validate things constantly. He needs to maintain confidence in his ability to make the right decision and then he won't be so afected by the criticism. And not be afraid to change his mind if the situation warrants - not as the result of pressure from others but by his own decision. Regards P.S. Ultimately it's the difference between saying "I can only accept myself if I get into the career I want in IT" or "to be in IT would be really nice but if anything else can be made to work - that will do too".
