I heard that this game was ditched by its developers. It seems likely that it will be in "early access" until the sun burns out

The original HUD has also been neutered.

I don't think this game will ever happen, I don't know why.

The "why" is because the devs have an extremely low budget, and have had real life interfere with their game coding. Also, tech shortly after they started did a huge leap forward, and it is discouraging when you're stuck a generation behind the rest.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

I've played this game years ago, but it definitely died since.  There's no singleplayer campaign yet and there never will be one.

Only buy this game if you're happy with what it has now, which is two (admittedly fun) singleplayer missions. It's been early access since 2009 I think, and it hasn't gotten anything new of substance in probably 6 years.

The original development team left, and a majority of the work is done by volunteers. That being said, the game isn't dead, as it's been stated that there are new updates coming as time goes on.

Implying a Dev team has given up is disingenuous. They're active on discord and update their work to-do list on Trello.

Well the game is in development in varios forms since 2006, and there is no end in sight.

Considering the game is not even half done i go with the "it's dead" crowd.

Maybe the dev team doesn't want to give up but updates are far and few in between. At this pace my live expectancy isn't long enough to play the final product.

Multiplayer has 9 player average at the time of this writing.

I'm just happy i got this game gifted.

Yeah, this is a dead game. It was one of the 20 Early Access games i bought on steam when they launched. Of that 20, two are doing well: Kenshi, and 7 days to die.

The rest failed. they either ran out of money or were cash grabs.

Kenshi is really good, it was so good that it vindicated early access in my opinion.

There's more than a few games like this, lingering on with development occurring when minimally funded studios staffed by all-but-volunteers can get around to it. A rating category of "Life Support" would fit this kind of situation.

Still, the existing missions aren't bad. Doing the space station mission solo was one of the spookiest FPS's I'd played. You're creeping down pitch-dark hallways and access tubes, fixing circuit breakers so you can work your way through the facility, when you hear the patter of running footsteps off in the distance.

...Somewhere.

Getting closer.

Yeah, they're just training robots that don't do more than try to punch you, and you have rifles and machine guns, but damn if it isn't eerie to hear them wandering around in the blackness you haven't explored yet, looking for you.
