  1. Yes, it's not a secret anymore, I was looking for videos that we can put up on Gorilla Gong. People can keep them coming, I'll check some of the picks out here.
  2. Well you'll probably be pleased with what I have in mind for the Halloween episode then. This may disappoint some of you, but I'm really not a fan of turn-based combat games. It's just a personality thing, it's nothing against the quality of the games themselves. I'm unlikely to review any unless there was some sort of overwhelming demand. I promise to make FM the next video that comes out after Halloween.
  3. I mostly take the opposite editing style for this series than I do for Freeman's Mind. Freeman's Mind I have to do all the jokes in editing and constantly check and re-edit to make the time fit. In RGD I mostly just say my thoughts on the game, then find the footage to match what I'm saying rather than vice-versa. For me personally, it goes MUCH faster than Freeman's Mind. It allows me to form trains of thought, whereas those get interrupted every 10 seconds in FM and I have to think of something new to say about killing a solider. This style will slow down depending on the game though. I'll probably only stick to games I'm familiar with for the near future for that reason also. If I have to play a brand new game (for me), it will take much more time for it to sink in with me, then go back and replay parts for recording. Well it's more like I can only get so upset over a videogame, afterall it is just a game. The stuff that gets me legitimately angry are things like corruption, victimization, exploitation of people and resources, predatory deception, etc. I don't plan on going into detail on this stuff anytime soon on the show (though who knows), but there are a few game companies that are slime that I definitely plan to call out later on. And yes, EA is on the list big time. I don't intend to talk about games LOTS of people have already reviewed unless I feel like I really have some things to say about it no one else has. I think people have pretty thoroughly covered Desert Bus. Based on some other comments, it's looking that way. Oh well, I'll talk about that in a follow-up episode (which I'll probably do as a few people are rising to the challenge on beating this game). Don't worry, I'm sure I'll cover something you've never heard of, but it probably won't be for the next several episodes.
  4. I need to have a LOT to say in order to make it any longer than this, I can only think of a handful of games like that, though this one surprised me with how much I ended up talking about it. Thanks, I'll try not to make it irritating or obnoxious, these are mostly just honest impressions, but with me trying to spice it up a little. I feel like I can't compete against somebody like the AVGN in terms of outright game rage (games actually don't make me especially angry, I mostly just get discouraged or annoyed if they're antagonistic. Any anger expressed on the show will likely be on some other topic that's related to the particular game), and I've already seen some other reviews that are far more thorough and informative than what I'll be doing. I figure my strengths will be just flat out talking about games I have strong opinions on, plus having lots of non sequitur rants because why not. So unlike Freeman's Mind, pretty much anything I say on the show will be my actual thoughts and opinions on the games (unless I'm OBVIOUSLY trying to bullshit people).
  5. The player has 2 health, they both have a wrench.
  6. Blip.tv link Well I had intended for this episode to be shorter and less edited than the last one, but that didn't happen as I had too many things to say about this game. Here's the next installment of RGD either way. This is a very noteworthy and deceptive game as you'll find out in the review. I'm really going to try and make the next one shorter. In a decision I'm sure will upset some people, while it's been time consuming, I am enjoying working on the game dungeon (I would have called this show The Game Dungeon if that wouldn't have doomed the name to obscurity trying to search for it) and I'd like to continue pushing with it to Halloween. It's my goal to get two more episodes out this month, with a special one being released on Halloween. This unfortunately means Freeman's Mind will have to get put on hold, but only until November. I promise to resume work on it on Novemeber 1st. In the meantime, hey, more videos! LINK TO FORUM COMMENTS

  8. Hey, just a quick update. With the exception of scary machinima (we'll post as many as we can find this month), we may be scaling down to 2 videos a day for the near future until we get more traffic + suggestions coming in. We plan to bump it up again later, but we want to make sure there are new videos every day and we might burn through our reserves a little too fast at 3 a day.
  9. Well it ended up taking me longer to process things than I intended, but I finally have the results for the contest to win a free copy of the game "Unepic." The winner goes to "dferch952" for this picture below: The angle for this was absolutely perfect and it sparks some thoughts what's going through the player's head. Either way, the person has problems and I can relate to that. Below are the runner-ups: This was easily my number two pick, it was a very hard decision deciding between this and the winner. I like the number of questions being raised here: by Daniel Fendrich An excellent backdrop for a heavy metal video: by Jon Jon This image was received by SETI and suppressed by the government until now: by "jlm" The author claims there are several subliminal images contained within this image, I think it's just bilinear filtering: by Killian Thieme A good "what happens next?" shot: by Adrián Scasserra The eyes of the being on the right see all. by "Neil Anblomee" An excellent photo of this poor creature: by "twisted.nipples" The great bubble war changed history forever: by "blue_dust" LINK TO FORUM COMMENTS
  10. Ha, "urcousinvinnie5" PM'd me about this. He's actually right on all counts except for them necessarily being Xen creatures and them being harmless. In fact, I almost had an alternate kicker showing the shadow of the creature Mike and Dave first heard, but it wasn't rendering well in Source at the time.. While I don't want to reveal too much since I could eventually make a sequel, I will say there was more going on than what people saw.
  11. Okay, I've picked the winner. I've locked the topic and will have a new post on it soon.

  13. I've been hoping someone would do this for years. I've always been interested in the original, but never really liked the top-down perspective for GTA (which is ironic considering I like tyrian, but you always aim the same direction in that game): http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/10/18/gtas-creator-remaking-original-game-in-3d/
  14. Sure. I have some things to say about Deus Ex Human Revolution you won't hear in ANY other review and will make me sound either like a prophet or a madman (hint: it's not related to augmentation). I might eventually cover Bioshock, though the things I would say in that review might alienate half my fanbase, so I'm in no rush to do that one. Also I wouldn't mind covering Crysis as kind of an excuse to talk about something else. By and large I'm probably going to be more interested in talking about unusual games no one's heard of however.
  15. I have at least a dozen in mind for that, although that's just sort of a bonus, that's not a requirement whether I cover a game or not. I'll be surprised if you've heard of the next one, but I have the REALLY obscure stuff for later (I did a search for one game's title on Youtube, turned up completely empty), I'll find something you haven't heard of eventually, no worries. Something like Tyrian isn't obscure by any means, just seriously underrated. Unless there's a really special exception, I don't plan to be covering ANY Nintendo games after I heard about them going after Youtube creators, sorry. Besides, there's a lot more coverage of old console games than PC ones out there. Also for what it's worth, I think Super Metroid and Donkey Kong Country are also serious contenders for the "best game soundtrack" running.
  16. Oh I have some games you've never heard of, I'm sure of it. We'll see what you think of Episode 2! At TGWTG? I hadn't heard of that. Who was their previous person? Since I've made this reviews, I've seen a few others that people have recommended. I can say right there are some people I simply can't compete with in terms of how informative they are. I've seen some that have all the original packaging, history of the companies, people involved, etc. I'll try and give some history when I'm aware of it, but I could see right away I'm not in the same league as some of these videogame historians. I think I'll be able to make up the difference though in finding some (not all though) games NO ONE has reviewed, plus I'll have a lot more "color commentary."
  17. I haven't tried it yet, but my guess is the Occulus Rift is going to get you as close as you can hope for. I messed with stereoscopic 3D back around 2000 and when it worked well (it didn't always, and it's not any better now than it was then), it wasn't "more realistic", it was like being in another world, no joke. When done right (it's NOT most of the time, for example every modern 3D movie I've seen in the cinema has lame 3D compared to what you had in the 50s), it trumps any graphical improvement you can imagine. The Rift could take that to the next level, to the point where I might mentally separate games that support it v. ones that don't the same way people might look at 2D v. 3D games now.
  18. That's too bad, I was hoping it was just someone with an insane agenda.
  19. Blip.tv link Here is another one of the side projects I've been up to, a new series! "Ross's Game Dungeon" is a sort of game review show where I talk about things I think are worth mentioning on various games. While this first episode is more on the tame side, in the future I plan to differentiate this from other reviews in that I'm not going to treat this like a normal review where I analyze every detail of the gameplay or give it a rating, etc. For example, if I'm reviewing a train game, I may decide that it reminds me of an incident where a janitor stole a train and talk about that for a while instead before getting back to the game. So think of this show as part game review, part lecture, part whatever I want to talk about that's remotely relevant. While I probably will focus more on obscure PC games, I don't plan to limit myself to any particular kind (though for the near future I'll only be reviewing low-resolution games as I don't trust my computer to record much else), although if I do cover a mainstream one, my plan will be to focus on things you DON'T hear in every other review out there. Ultimately, my main criteria for me choosing a game is I need to have strong opinions about it one way or another. This came about primarily because after joining That Guy With The Glasses, I was told by another creator that the vast majority of their content are reviews. Since I've played a lot of unheard of games that I can comment on, I thought this show would be worth trying. I like the idea of this show as it lets me make something constructive out of this otherwise worthless knowledge. For everyone who is groaning because I'm hopping on the game review / commentary bandwagon, I promise to keep doing other videos too. For this first episode, I've covered Tyrian, a frigging masterpiece of a game that puts many others to shame. I had so much to say about this game the episode ran a little long. I think this first episode may have come out a little bit drier than I wanted, but I definitely hope to improve in the future. I expect a certain portion of people to hate this simply because it's not Freeman's Mind, but I think it has potential. Expect better writing and worse editing in future episodes. Also to everyone waiting on more Freeman's Mind, that will continue too, my plan is once I'm up to speed is to have these in between FM episodes as I think I can potentially produce them faster. All in all, this is another experiment, but so was Freeman's Mind. - - - ADHD version: Ross made a game review show! Warning: It contains lots of talking. LINK TO FORUM COMMENTS

  21. Ugh, yeah, I guess it is. I was going to have a post on it a couple days ago, but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to. Also a new video is coming out tomorrow, so I guess I'll extend the deadline a little longer so it doesn't bump the news too fast. I've picked out a candidate as the winner, but I haven't made it official yet.
  22. It's been slow for me too unfortunately. I checked in with the guy running it, he says half the time it's the host, the other half it's been spam attempts (I know he does have aggressive anti-spam software though). It is unfortunate, but my guess is we won't have the resources to upgrade the hosting for a while. Stuff like this is why we're still in beta.
  23. Yeah, we appreciate it, it will make things easier on us. Well there are some good other picks too. I highly recommend "Grandma is Coming", "Spider Friend", and "Up In Smoke" on the site. I would have picked them if I had known about them, I think they're brilliant. As for my picks, they'll vary. Right now I'll confess, because it's launch, I'm going to load it with the best machinima I know of, then once I run out of that, I'll move on to the "good" or "okay" (unless we get new picks that are good). In the future we hope to have a user "favorites" section. Once that happens, I'll have a list of all my absolute favorites if you really want to discriminate. No matter how you slice it, we will NOT be loading anything we consider "bad." I think in time it will get easier as we'll have more people submitting videos, so it we'll have more good picks to choose from.
  24. Ha, well I'm declaring a new rule of no more roleplaying on news post threads. He's unfortunately a little too good at it or else we're not quite as sharp as we should be. Either way, we'll hopefully have better communication from now on.
  25. The email is from "[email protected]", I don't think I'll get a reply. Who do I ask about this? What's the process for resubmitting? I have no problem changing the title, but if it's about something else, that would seem kind of pointless. I'm willing to revise this pack as needed, but giving me no reasons is just blind firing.
