  1. Alyxx, are you a girl? In retrospect you viewed yourself as a 'little boy' in another thread. It is possible to interpret this in two ways.
  2. Pet Shop Boys - I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too) A B-side of the Heart single from the late 1980s. One of their best imo.
  3. Is that actually how you truly feel or do you just say to yourself "This does not insult me. This does not insult me! THIS DOES NOT INSULT ME! *lots of cussing*". I hate being insulted by something myself, especially if someone's not too careful when talking about my disability, but it can happen. I just try being quiet about it and let the feeling fade away.
  4. There's a theory they mixed up the names of Greenland and Iceland. Yes, that is my thought as well. Though few days ago it snowed a good 18 cm deep layer of snow, over a single night.
  5. Normally I like FM better but The Tunnel has me more excited, just the thought of 26 minutes of Civil Protection goodness is awesome.
  6. Do any girls/women here find the 'No new PMs' button insulting in a politically incorrect manner? Also, on a completely unrelated note, I think armpit farts should be considered a language.
  7. I am pro-choice, but if I made a girl pregnant by accident I wouldn't want her to have an abortion unless some bad complications would arise later. But this is a tough thing to debate with oneself. On one hand I hate excessive government control over people's lives, it shouldn't be their business if someone does drugs for example, but I find it difficult to map when exactly the developing new individual is developed enough to be considered "ready for life". I don't consider it mass-murder of 200 million babies when guys masturbate, I know that much...
  8. This is a very active planet, species come and they go, and very quickly relative to dozens or hundreds of millions of years. Our influence is obvious but species going extinct is still nothing new.
  9. Cheesus christ guys, you must really love cheese.
  10. Nevermind then. I thought it was user specific since the -/+ is in the profile field, not the post area.
  11. What about making rep awards post-specific? So if member A finds member B's post helpful or in any other way rep-worthy, only once can s/he award a rep for that particular post.
  12. I doubt anyone takes such claims seriously, taste in music is subjective after all. I found this mildly entertaining, that's about it.

    NOX

Used to love watching my friend play NOX, years and years ago. I never tried it myself though.
  14. The sun is essentially a vast fusion reactor, every second it outputs energy that when harvested could supply the entire planet with energy for a long time. We can only dream about 100% harvest but with advanced enough technology we could get a LOT of energy from the sun. I think the key to that is to move the harvesting out into space and build massive solar energy plants that collect and send energy down to earth through controlled means that minimize waste. That happens before 2040? More like 2400.
  15. The problem with a reputation system is that people have their own reasons for awarding it (whether negative or positive). You can give person A +rep for harassing person B if you (person C) don't like person B, to name an example. Alyx has a very high reputation, which to me seems to just reflect the gargantuan posting rate, if rep reflects post counts then it is pretty much redundant and we might as well ditch it. I think this system is doomed to fail without further regulations, I could go as far as suggesting only staff can award reputation, it is their job to be reasonable, unbiased and level-headed.
  16. Other animals can and do kill their prey even more brutally than we do, though how/if the prey perceives it emotionally is a question. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be that fly caught in a spider's web, or the little animal which first gets its legs bitten off by a lion before the job is finished. The fact we humans (most of us anyway) have compassion and conscience at all puts us in a special position in nature.
  17. The show was the same episode repeated over and over again, always the same sexual bullshit. And it doesn't help the show that Sheen is a lame excuse for a human being, if I got million dollars for an episode I could retire after the pilot.
  18. 1. Unreal 2. Quake 2 3. HalfLife 2 + Eps 4. HalfLife 5. Red Faction This list will be wrong in 5 minutes, because I have played many games that I find brilliant, it is virtually impossible to put them in order of brilliance.
  19. You know, I never actually understood how the javelin alt fire works. I thought it would only fry the necromorph which has the javelin stuck in it. I'll need to practice a lot more with this weapon now that you've revealed one of the holy grails of ammo efficiency to me. I find it a bit odd how alt fire magically uses a second javelin though, maybe just one of the countless bugs in the PC version? Just because a weapon is good doesn't mean other weapons can not be better. A non-upgraded force gun can take out uncle Wally with one or two force grenades, where these guys are normally big ammo sponges, the pulse gun is a major beast once upgraded to 8+ damage, the ripper is arguably the most ammo efficient weapon in either game, etc. The only problem I find with multi-weapon setups is how unevenly you get ammo for them. My favourite weapon, pulse gun, gets less ammo than the javelin gun or the cutter. I have put several cutter ammo and javelin ammo stacks into the store because of this.
  20. Hell yeah, that's the spirit. Don't know if I'll have pizzas but I will surely have some snacks and a cold soda drink.
  21. Still playing Dead Space 2, any good and ammo efficient ways to kill the creature firing the homing organic bombs while you realign the solar panels (Chapter 7)? The bastard ain't so challenging but I need to spend quite a bit of ammo. The only "kaboom" I got in my arsenal is the pulse rifle grenade launcher, but it is not upgraded and I guess it would be pure luck to get a good hit, same for the javelins. But on second thought, I do get a good reward for killing it, buying back the ammo I spent is very possible. And why in the world did the level designer place a checkpoint 'before' riding the elevator up to the airlock? What does it accomplish to force the player to do that part over and over again after a bad luck streak outside?
  22. Good news, 26 minutes of CP goodness will make for a great weekend. I fear the download size a little bit though.
  23. This was a tough decision but ultimately I like HL2 for its more cinematic nature and more rich characters.
  24. CRCs can be useful, but in the actual filename...?
  25. Most of my favourites have already been mentioned. One that stays close to my heart is Freeman's first headcrab encounter: "Uh, one of em's lose. I can't turn back... Okay I can do this, I'm a matador, I fearlessly- *headcrab jumps* *lots of cussing*".
