Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
BTGBullseye replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
@Michael Archer: I stated something, you have to disprove it or you're assuming everyone, except me, is you. I know of no legitimate science that contradicts my original post, so please... Enlighten me to these decades of research. From the looks of almost everything that you responded with, you're merely trolling. @Axeldeath's analogy to human skin color changes: Adaptation is not the same as evolution. Adaptation doesn't necessarily get passed from generation to generation. Some do, but most don't, and there are no adaptations that stack beyond a certain amount. Here's an experiment you can do, try making your descendants immune to radiation... Just irradiate yourself, your spouse, your kids, and any others of your line, and see what happens. This is about what is being taught in schools, not about what the theories mean to us personally. -
Another +rep... I think I'll add you as a friend...

All of my responses will be in this color so I don't have to edit all this to be able to hit the specific points. Now, by corporate monopoly, I assume you mean a business that's so successful in the free market i.e. it's able to provide better goods to more people at better qualities at lower prices, that its competitors can't compete. What's wrong with that and how is it bad? I don't think he's talking about a competitive edge. A monopoly means it is the ONLY company producing a product, allowing them to set any price they want. (like the example he later gave of that pharmaceutical company raising the price of a product from $40 to $10000) A competitive edge is the absolute best thing that can happen for a product as far as the consumer is concerned, and the worst as far as any competing company is concerned. It usually pushes competitors out of the market, and can sometimes cause monopolies (bad) which in turn raises consumer prices immensely if it is unregulated. "Market share" belongs to the few individuals who's time and effort is the reason why it's there. It's private property. Why does the government have the right to tell them how to use their own property? I have a gun, should I be able to use it to kill everyone who annoys me? That's where that reasoning falls apart. The government is only supposed to protect it's people from injustice, and do nothing else. Of course, that never happens for long with all these assholes that inevitably get in charge... This does not work. You can't be advocating two completely opposing ideas. Cost-of-entrance can't be low while also mandating wage minimums and safety minimums. Safety standards and minimum wages are expensive. So much for your low cost-of-entrance. Remember FDR's raise of the minimum wage to fight the depression? He just made things worse! Smaller businesses couldn't continue to run; workers became too expensive. Low cost of entrance into the market can easily be made to reduce minimum wage restrictions, and benefits requirements for small businesses. It's when every corporation/business of every size has the exact same requirements that government regulation fails in it's efforts. I agree that it should be assumed that a workplace won't kill a worker who doesn't know the risks. That's why if a person is harmed in the workplace, they should be able to take legal action against their employer. Therefore, it's up to the employer to make sure it's safe. But it's not up to the government to decide what's safe and what's not. It's arbitrary manipulation of private property. Who do you think should determine the definition of "safe"? Government is the only place legal action can take place, government is the only force that can regulate safe practices, and government is the only one that can make it all come out entirely in your favor. I assume by "granted" you mean government subsidies and the government made it illegal to compete against this company. If this is the case, then that's a problem with mixed-economy and government intervention in the free market, not capitalism. "Granted" generally means "allowed". It just means they were not fined or regulated. So greed and profit motive is inherently evil. Why is that exactly? Why is the desire to be prosperous and successful using the power of your mind "evil"? If evil is that which is detrimental to man, making money to sustain your life and flourish cannot possibly be considered evil. The opposite of greed and profit motive is altruism and loss motive. Altruism is the theory that the purpose of your life is to sustain other lives at the cost of your own. I consider this to be one of the greatest evils. It is also insane to think that it's a virtue to feed another life but a vice to feed your own. Loss motive is just stupid and nihilistic. Also, it's anti-life. Greed is not "to get enough resources to survive/survive comfortably", it is however "to get as much resources as possible without regard for others". Lack of regard for others is about as evil as it gets for humans. Yeah, but at what cost? All these "public" offices are run by the government. The government does not produce anything; their only form of income is taking it from their citizens. Are you advocating robbing one man to pay for the unearned benefit of another? Why do you think you're entitled to someone else's hard earned money? The wait time is bad. My dad is a doctor in Canada and he says the waiting rooms are packed. One of his colleagues went to the United States for some routine test, just so she wouldn't have to wait four months. I agree with you on this one. Private healthcare/insurance has always been the best way.

What is WavPack? I use all FLAC for my lossless audio nowadays...

It took me going through for the third time to realize the usefulness of the javelin... I started by liking the ripper, but it started being too much of an ammo hog for me, so I switched to the line gun. I usually also carry the force gun and a couple slots of extra ammo, works perfect for close range.

Yeah, I always seed to at least 1.000 ratio before stopping if it's a clean torrent. If the number of seeders for a stopped torrent gets low, I usually start it back up so new people can get it too.
-
There are several lossless compression techniques out there, it's just a matter of whether you want more quality, or a smaller file size...
-
No seeding?!? I'm seeding right now... WTF?!? [EDIT] Oh, you meant you were seeding... Yeah, nobody is DLing yet, they all grab and run...
-
Same exact message for me too...

I really like when I'm dreaming, but know it, so I can change whatever... Adds quite a lot of cooler stuff to the dream if it's one of the usual boring dreams, and kinda makes my WTF dreams make more sense...

I'm still stuck on the soundtrack for Moon. So love that stuff. [EDIT] Just switched to Echoes - Pink Floyd [EDIT2] Now on to Star Trek III soundtrack - Track 1, Prologue and Main Title [EDIT3] Star Trek: The Next Generation main theme

George the bot... I think "Hal" would be a better nickname...

Things you know you shouldn't do but do anyway

Occasionally watch movies in the theater for the same price as getting a blu-ray disk of it and a big meal... -
Yeah, I found it completely useless until fully upgraded too... That's the deception though...

Wouldn't be as hard as it seems if you can manage to get the engine to load 3 maps in one go, overlay them, and load/drop maps one at a time... Load map 1 & 2. When you cross over into map 2, it loads map 3. As you cross into map 3 it unloads map 1, and loads map 4. Rinse and repeat. Easy to script IMO if the engine could do it... I think that could be the future of FPS games. That's the way World of Warcraft, Far Cry 2, The Elder Scrolls series, The Fallout series, and many other games do it...

I actually had the Line cutter as my main weapon for everything but the big guys, I used the javelin for them. Fully upgraded for both, can really make life easy... Javelin secondary fire upgrades and the special are what you really need to go for on it. (wider damage area, and a final explosion)

I think if it gets submitted to somewhere like Demonoid they have their own tracker, but I honestly don't really know. Yes, just select the torrent in uTorrent, then change to the tracker tab. Right click and select Add Tracker. Replace everything with these: http://67.189.205.101:280/announce udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce http://tracker.bitreactor.to:2710/announce http://tracker.publicbt.com/announce http://genesis.1337x.org:1337/announce http://tracker.ilibr.org:6969/announce http://exodus.1337x.org/announce http://10.rarbg.com/announce http://nemesis.1337x.org/announce http://tracker.torrentbay.to:6969/announce http://tracker.torrent.to:2710/announce http://torrent-downloads.to:5869/announce http://9.rarbg.com:2710/announce http://opentracker.umunu.com/announce http://beeretracker.ru/announce http://exodus.desync.com:6969/announce

Evolution vs. Creation being taught in schools
BTGBullseye replied to BTGBullseye's topic in Serious Topic Discussion
There is no proof either way, which leaves the percentage chance undefinable in both cases. Evolution is a faith just as much as any form of Christianity... I could say the exact same about evolutionists. 4000 years old is about 2000 years after the flood... (or right at the time of the flood, I keep forgetting if it was at 2000BC or 4000BC) If anything it just says that people died in that location a long time ago. So what does that have to do with anything? Well over a billion people disagree with you on that one. (I already posted my numbers supplier) -
I'll get a screenshot next time I get the error, then you can see it in it's entirety. So far it only happens when there are 10 or more people (guests and hidden included) browsing the forums.

I remember one dream from way back when I was like 8 years old... I was riding a yellow BMX bike, that could occasionally float, across various mirrors that were anywhere from about 3 feet square up to 30 foot square, all perfectly horizontal, all in a step patern of anywhere from 1 foot to 3 foot high gaps, never overlaping, black everywhere, a white glowing doorway (think "The Matrix") at the top of the stairs that had my Mom looking out of it asking what was keeping me... Oh, and there was a T-Rex chasing me... Then I slid off the edge of a mirror, and fell for a couple seconds... When I woke, I was 2 feet off my bed, and I started falling... (I'm serious, it was not a dream part for that, a full 24 inches up, all body parts that far off the bed without anything lifting/supporting me, and still had the blanket draped over me) I probly shouldn't tell you about one of the more recent ones I remember... Not suitable for under 18, but just as insane... lol
