  1. Wow, I'm surprised that two people got offended by what I said. You might get annoyed at the Nostalgia Chick It's not a question of 'might', I do get annoyed with the Nostalgia Chick. End of story. Not sure why you felt to mention me there. My opinion still stands and won't be swayed unless Lindsay starts making videos that I can actually watch in one sitting. The same goes with the rest of the TGWTG cast that I don't particularly follow.
  2. The only reason Ubisoft fixed it so promptly was because the vulnerability was made public. Had it been reported to them privately it would probably have taken Ubi's programmers weeks or even months to get around to fixing it. For the sake of publicity they had to act right away since all the major game sites had already reported on this. Supposedly the vulnerability was limited to a Uplay browser plugin which Uplay secretly installs into people's browsers without their knowledge or consent. That sort of secrecy is a pretty prominent theme of spyware malware digital rights management. See: securom (which, if I recall, is another marvelous Sony creation). And don't get me wrong, my comment wasn't praising ubisoft in the least (the beginning of my statement you quoted mentioned that this exploit shouldn't have been an issue in the first place). I agree that a leading reason the issue got fixed so quickly was because it was publicized. To take an example from Sony again, the PSN outage lasted much longer than the time between this exploit was discovered to the time it was supposedly remedied.
  3. Banned because your name reminds me of hymens!
  4. I guess those clopping noises weren't just him pacing around the office... ba-dum-tsh...
  5. A pair of radiator hoses for my car. One was completely shot (it burst open on the way to work) and the second was needing replacing as well. $250 later, and I wish I could ride a bike to work...
  6. Not sure if that was meant to be general or specific to me, but I don't actually own apple products aside from my ipod and phone. Most people tend to forget that, with the higher end iMacs at least, that the same display panel oem'd by samsung rings in at about $900, and that's not including the intel processor, mobo, gpu, form factor, the metal enclosure, etc.... Most commentators that mention the price don't take into consideration how much the parts actually cost when bought individually (3x is a bit excessive) and I usually find these comments too short-sighted. Of course, when I spout off shit like that, it DOES make it seem like I would own a Mac (okay, I do own an iBook that I bought for $50 as a project, so I guess I'm guilty there). Speaking of things I know I shouldn't do but do anyway... (nice segway, huh? and OT)
  7. I'm a native without the ADD tendencies. At most, I'll have music playing or videos in the background while I read articles on websites (which I frequently switch, but only because there are so many articles on each site that I want to read). Aside from that, I have no problem sitting down and watching a few TV shows, a movie, or playing a game for an extended period without switching tasks.
  8. I made one of these for an out-door camera once, not exactly like yours but the same general concept. I used IR LEDs instead, though, since it only needed the light at night and no one else needed to know it was on.
  9. Who needs love when you have television?
  10. You can really see it in his casual videos he posts.
  11. I love Brad. Lupa is cool too but I need to watch more of her stuff. My only problem with Lupa is how she acts outside of her show *has been reading posts by her on her tumblr for the last few minutes*. Aside from that, she's fairly entertaining. The Brad/Lupa crossover made me squeeee
  12. Found out today that the states are getting screwed on another blu-ray anime release, this time Persona 4 The Animation. Aside from the fact that Sentai is handling the release (which means they'll want a kidney for what it is and will include the bare minimum bonus features, see Clannad and Clannad: AS for examples), but now another party in the licensing deal has denied them the right to include subtitles and the original Japanese track with the release. Why? Because they're afraid of reverse importing to get around the insane prices in Japan. And who could blame Japanese anime fans? As much as I complain about Sentai's pricing, it doesn't compare to how bad it is in the Japanese market (or so I've been told is the justification here). Granted, for someone like me who knows how to get around this, this isn't much of an issue, but that's the thing. It shouldn't BE an issue in the first place.
  13. Brad and Lupa are really the only draws for me these days. I get annoyed watching the Nostalgia Critic, Chick, Bum Reviews, and FB, and the rest really can't hold my attention for long.
  14. I agree, but the problem isn't water (and water coolers don't use water these days), it's the electroconductivity of the compound used. As I mentioned, there are some non-conductive compounds on the market. Just like the thermal compounds used on your CPU: there are some non-conductive compounds and some conductive compounds (these are just as dangerous, if not more so, than water cooling imo). Not crazy enough imo. What you should REALLY do is make a self-sustained liquid nitrogen setup so you can be overclocking with subzero temperatures for a long period of time. Do that, and I'll call you crazy. The AC thing... eh, I've seen people try to use mini-refrigerators in the past, but the humidity kills the components.
  15. Although women that aren't bitches are an increasingly rare breed. Same goes for men that aren't assholes, but I'd argue there's far more nice guys than nice girls.
  16. Banned because it had buttons *whistles and hides scissors and buttons behind my back*
  17. So, AF computer geeks, what do you prefer? Air cooling, water cooling, or are you crazy enough to try your hand with liquid nitrogen (don't do this with your hands, dummy!)? I'm currently an air-cooling enthusiast personally. It's cheaper, easier to maintain, and has very good performance for the price (see: Noctua NH-D14). I can see why others would choose liquid cooling, since the performance benefits become clear with custom loops and maybe the Corsair H100, but I just like how little hassle goes into maintaining an air cooled setup. I might get into liquid cooling once I get in a better place financially, but for now air cooling works just fine, even in the hot desert. I can't see myself trying to the liquid nitrogen thing, though.
  18. Well another Telltale game glitched out on me and now I need to start over. First I got a game-ending glitch in the first BTTF episode. Basically, what happens is a cutscene that needs to trigger won't trigger and you can't force it to trigger otherwise. Now, my Jurassic Park game decided to corrupt my save file after I beat episode 1 and was halfway through episode 2. If I want to continue, I need to start over from the beginning. It baffles me as to why Telltale doesn't use Steam's cloud service for gamesaves, as I feel this might not have happened if that were the case.
  19. *highfive* Same here. The resulting butthurt is hilarious. I've taken to disabling notifications on youtube, though XD My inbox gets so spammed with replies that make me bet most Windows-computer enthusiasts are republicans.
  20. Banned for wearing a lab coat. Trench-coats only (and I mean, ONLY)
  21. So yes, I'm aware that there's a thread like this over in the gaming section, however that's limited to games. I want to see what else you AF Dwellers blow all your oodles of cash on > and Gotta keep my girlish figure somehow
  22. I bait PC fanboys with Mac comments on PC-oriented youtube videos
  23. Itchy. Kendo or Judo?
  24. Banned because you're not a doctor.
  25. It is a common misconception that Macs do not or cannot get viruses. I would advise you not to make that mistake. Macs don't get viruses. They can get malware and trojans, however.
