  1. I've read the bible thrice over, and numerous times in snippets. What good will that do here? I love Ecc, the histories of Kings and Chronicles, and some parables. So try again. What, you think there's 'proof' of a afterlife or being because some Sand nomads and Babylonian exiles and then their radicals cooked up this stew of a book over the centuries? It is bloody affecting me right now. You think I like sweltering in a increasingly hotter sub tropic clime? You think I like having no more white holiday seasons of my youth, or snow storms that last a day and turn the streets into rivers by the week's end? My personal comfort is dented by it. That's what. Simple as. Why would I stop worrying about Syrians because a lot of them (but not all of them) are religious? Their bad harvests caused a civil war which caused destabilization and attacks throughout the west. It affects me. It affected people I know. It affects the government that overlords me. So try again. Everything is connected, everything is set off by the innumerable and minute choices and actions of thousands of years of civilization before, ongoing, and to come. Daeshi fucks have targeted NYC, I'll have you know. It also set off a reactionary wave in Europe, which further goes against causes I espouse, so, again. Affects me. This isn't superstition, this is stuff that changes how we live on the ground, day-to-day.
  2. I'm interested! I haven't found any First Persons of note late, neat.
  3. This may be a shock to you but since Athiests don't delusion themselves with a afterlife or imaginary friends, they know that we have one material world to share and maybe trashing it isn't the best course of outcome? We're also suffering from Climate Change now. expanding Droughts, the aquifers are drying up, wild fires, brisker winters, changing environs, this is happening within our lifetimes. Syria's whole situation could had been sparked by a bad drought, and look at the geo-socio-political ramifications of one measly civil war in Europe that sparked a Alt-Right surgence across the globe and all the domino effects thereof. NYC has become hotter and drier in my own 25 years. If I expect to live another 50 more, why live in a sweltering, worsening hellhole? So even if you think Atheists are selfish dicks, they're going to experience a changing clime in their own lifetimes, thus ticking off the selfish-concern box. But you won't care. Not with that loaded, biased' language. Maybe two other posters will give you a reach around and a few others to me but you're obviously not coming in here in good faith or with a open mind.
  4. 01/06/2021: Attempted Self Coup in the United States of America (failed).
  5. California is doing measures. ICUs around the country are approaching full capacity. And the US reached 301,000 dead. Fauci estimates we might reach 450k by the end of January .
  6. It depends on the graphic of the thing for me. TF2 and nearly anything Garys Mod - it just screams, 'this is a game'. Kudos to Ross for taking the HL engine and working with it, he's the only one in that area I constantly, or really have, watched. Beyond that...I've only really seen Red Vs Blue, up to Season...13?
  7. Eh, he was literally joking. Same with the Pikes thing, that was also something I've heard (callous) people say. But overall yes this admin wants to fight tooth and nail over this, either to sow enough doubt (somehow? Running with it isn't helping IMO) to contest the electors by Jan.
  8. 245,000 American dead. November 9th. Second wave may hit NYC soon again. France and UK shutdown again. 100k cases per day in the USA. 50 mil infected overall, circa 10 mil concurrently active. New strain detected out of a Danish mink farm. Hundreds of thousands of minks culled, 250 odd humans infected. Pfizer announces their vaccine is 90% effective, but isn’t out yet. This sounds like a apocalyptic log....
  9. To the surprise of both no one, and everyone, the polls were wrong, Biden got no real swing states, and the map basically looks like 2016 2.0. (Source: The Guardian, as of c. 0415 AM Nov-4th). Trump has declared he will take the count to the supreme court and that counting should stop immediately. Pence tried to backtrack this, saying all 'legally whatever votes' will be counted, but no one listens to Pence, so that's as good as dirt. +10 in the polls might as well be +1. And as always 100,000,000 Americans decided to not vote this year, at all. Neither candidate has more than 70 million votes, out of an electorate in the 240,000,000 range. Thankfully however it does seem third parties were absolutely trashed, as they should be in this winner-take-all system. In the Senate race, the Republicans maintain their control, with both apparently hated Mitch McConnel and Lindsey Graham flying back into their seats. In the House race, no one cares, as the House is useless. The Squad got re-elected. This is the absolute worst case scenario for Biden. Even losing handily would had been better, as the institutions of the Republic wouldn't be made a mockery of in a stacked court. But now even if Biden somehow gets 269, 270, or 271 EC, it'll go to the courts, every state will have a recount, mailed in votes will probably be thrashed, and either Pence or ABC will be the deciding factor when the electors come to call. And even if, somehow, Biden gets into the Oval Office, it'll be with a Republican Senate. Don't even think about the Supreme Court, the Democrats are in no position to either amend it or pack it or expand it or whatever, even in their best case scenarios. Which...this isn't. This was a absolute flounder for the Democratic Party. Violence and rioting is near non-existent as everyone went home hours ago but we'll see how this will boil over in the coming days. I took work off for yesterday and today, good call on my part I figure. And hey. 100th post. Couldn't be fitting enough....
  10. They already do. McDonalds and the Hot Coffee Case. A case of frivilous litigation by a dumb-ass old senile granny, right? Oh wait no. McDonalds thought they could coast off any damage caused by keeping coffee boiling hot because that was better than risking cold coffee that needed to be reheated. They slandered a old woman whose labia were fused together by the heat of the coffee and only, at first, wanted her medical costs covered. And they dragged her through the dirt, and she became the poster child for litigious, whiny America. NYC Soda Tax/Ban - Socialist New York Governor Bloomberg wants to dictate what YOU Can eat. Nevermind that it's basically 1c per 12 oz Can of soda and a ban on massive cups of sugary soda, no! Stand up against the Bureaucrats, don't let them tell you what do drink - listen to us, instead. And the NAACP and local interest minority orgs, which we brought out. FAT IS BAD FOR YOU - wait, no, not really. We honestly have little idea of what is bad for you, but you'll never know it since from the 70s onward, the papers that got released, the diets that sprang up, complained about Fat. And it's obvious, right? You don't want to be fat, ergo, don't eat Fat. But what about eating too much sugar? Oh ignore that. Chow down in 100 g of Sugar a day. Oh and calories? Ah fuggadabout it, 2k a day? Sureee. How much can this meal have? 1.4k? Have three of them! Oh you're overweight? Obese? O gee, cut down on carbs and fat! Don't mind that it hasn't worked for the populace in the last forty years; no no no, don't worry about sugar or cal intake. And most of this is just soft stuff. It's not warpath level stuff. McDonalds, if you recall, DID change their policies on coffee, on supersizing, on beef tallow in fries. But that was because after years of back and forth, it just wasn't worth it to continue, i.e the free market forced it, not legislation. SUperSize Me. The Coffe Case costing millions in fees and the risk of more such cases. Beef Tallow was axed due to a rising vegetarian trend, sparked in part by that diet-anti-fat trend above. And McDonalds was suffering a bad pr image. Pink Slime - though governments did get on that eventually, and more. Think of the pull NewsCorp and Sinclair has on information, already, which I would say is on a active warpath to influence society. The corporations will reach around and hit the living room, appeal to the masses, plaster every ad with attack ads so novel and succint people wouldn't even know they were attack ads, hit the NGOs to get mouthpieces to support them (As in the NYC Soda Cap ban where PepsiCo and Coca Cola hit Hispanic and African American groups as they consume more of that product), and other stuff that'll creep in or be nailed into the zeitgeist. Now imagine that for issues on lobbying - defense contracts, infrastructure, bids for government contracts. That'll go just as far - 'Lockheed has employed millions and produced the jets and vehicles that defended America. Senator So-and-So blocks us from getting you jobs and getting pilots in the air', posted out in the Rust Belt or Sun Belt. People will beg for lobbying to return or run on pro-business revisionist tickets. Protests and marches will be organized, akin to the Tea Party ones. After all unless you ban interest groups, the money will manifest in action on the ground. And if the economy and workforce is so crippled enough, people will beg and sign up to advocate for 'pro-economy', 'pro-business' orgs and action.
  11. Meh. We got rid of Pork in the 90s and Partisanship shot through the roof. Senators had no need to go across the aisle, it became a zero-sum-game - you don't need a Democrat and a Republican senator, you just need two REpublican or two Democratic senators, thus it became a race for total control. I think getting rid of Citizens United would be a good step, but outright removing lobbying or revolving door stuff just means the money will be directed to private groups, paramilitary groups, associated groups. The masses can be swayed by targeted campaign, we already see this in advertising as in the Soda 'Cap' in NYC or McDonalds Hot Coffee Case. Now imagine the lobby money going into efforts to sway the masses, radicalise them, gather them for support. These things just have a way of snaking out and about. Got rid of the Spoils System and Patronage, we get Pork and Lobbying. Got rid of the Pork, we get extreme partianship. Get rid of the lobbying, mass radicalization and stirring's probably gonna follow.
  12. Another interesting one; reminds me of another game I can't remember at this moment, but hey.
  13. Oh, sure, but someone is going to try to recoup and make a profit off of this. Microsoft ain't a charity, they have plans, even if it's just 'adding a new revenue stream to buff up our yearly profit'. And the only way they can do that is to make and sell product.
  14. I'll like to vouch for this, UnderRail would be interesting, though I get why he doesn't like em due to being Turn Based; though in UnderRail's case, if something DIES, it often STAYS dead. Humans don't respawn. You kill a abandoned mall full of pskyers? They stay dead. Some animals 'respawn' but that's more due to new guys coming into the new turf.
  15. UnderRail anything is fantastic, and I hope Ross covers it one day. But yea the forced bottlenecking is BS.
  16. "Have I ever told you...about...the future?"
  17. Apparently this was a purchase of 7.5 billion. What is Microsoft going to do to recoup that price tag? Are we going to see a huge flurry of AAA Video games in the early 20s now? A revival of dead series - ZeniMax had Arkane, id, MachineGames, Tango.... That's The Evil Within, new Wolfenstein, Dishonored, Prey, Arx Fatalis, Doom, Quake, Rage, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout.... And hell this means Microsoft has like, 40% of the 'game market'? If I'm saying that right? We're getting near monopoly turf.
  18. Looks intriguing, I'll bite. Will edit this/report back later.
  19. I'm interested in this scifi-occult mixture; thanks for bringing this up!
  20. I'm getting Underrail vibes for some reason (and maybe Age of Decadence and Pillars of Eternity, but I never really played either). Definitely going to look into this more....
  21. It's alright for a single-run beat-em-up/shooter; get on sale and enjoy the soundtrack and fights.
  22. 21,000,000 infected worldwide, 755kish dead, flu deaths globally are around 600k. World might hit 1.5 million dead by December. 5,400,000 in the US, 170k Dead. Flu deaths last year were around 62k dead. US might hit 200k by October, 300k by December. Top countries infected: USA, Brazil, India, Russia, SA, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Spain. And this is just what is recorded. Some don't report - intentionally or not. Some want to test more, some can't test at all. Some fudge numbers, some try to ignore it's even happening (Hello, Turkmenistan, NK, USA...). Global recession, most probably will lead to a depression in 2, 3 years time. Tens of millions unemployed, the entire post-information workforce was shifted to the home while suddenly counter clerks and couriers are the backbone of cities. What a fucking year.
  23. Hell it's why I like this forum. Ross doesn't give off edgy Alt-Lite, Alt-Right, Right-Wing, NeoNazi, or whatever energy. Ross is Ross. The most political he's gotten, to my knowledge, was in Deus Ex. And there he REJECTS and/or doesn't even mention the seedier conspiracies. He points out that...the rich are greedy and fuck us over. He doesn't go on a rant about the Rothchilds or Jews or whatever or even the NWO "At least...I don't think...". He just points out a alarming trend of technology, consolidation, the eroding of rights, and how Deus Ex shows a world that really flies off the handle, because there are actual Deep State/Conspiracy Actors at work there, and even then they fail all. the. time. Deus Ex ends up where it does because the assholes don't win, at least by IW and even if you leave out IW: The Templars get wrecked. The Illuminati suffer a civil war. Most world governments are 'said' to be under their thrall but it never feels like it. The PRC flushed out their roots though, well, they're still the PRC. The USA breaks down into literal civil war and environmental catastrophe. Sure the rich may be living a 'cushy' life but if I was a Illuminati member by the time of DX1 I would literally be getting my shit kicked in because of MJ12 which is where all the energy and clout went to. And it's not like the Jews Run The World in DX, anyone can join up, it's like the 1984 party; and the Royals aren't Lizards, and the races aren't being primed for war or replacement or whatever (and trust me DX could had shoved in all of that shit in '00. It is NOTHING new, but they decided to neutralize it in a way to be more enjoyable, accessible, and honestly believable). But yes back to what Ross pointed out about DX. If anything that's )(pointing out consolidation and disparity and the like) a rather 'leftist' thing to say these days, Leftists hate monopolies and the wealth disparity and outright greed of corporate-infused states and governments - but Ross lives in Poland where their Conservatives are barely where the US Republicans were in the 80s, if that. Their politics are more 'normal' compared to the Right-wing USA. And of course his focus is on games, tech, and the like. He's kept it rather apolitical so far as much as he can. Sounds like Uncle Zeb thought this would be a NeoNazi Safe Space...for some reason...are the YouTube comments that bad? and got mad when he saw me or Annie or whomever post out and about. Good riddance, trash. Maybe the Codex might be up your alley but I don't want to see more righties there anywho.
