  1. I'd argue gameplay in FFVII is mostly filler and dialogue is far more important. I think most people are bothered by their libido sometimes. If it's something more troubling, it might be worth trying seeing doctor about it.
  2. Playing Fifa games doesn't make any sense to me, but I understand some people just enjoy different stuff.
  3. There are few things to it. I think interactivity, even limited, of the game makes history automatically more engaging. Kinda like something that happens to you is exiting, even if watching it as a movie would be boring. And there some people play some for the story. Hell, my favorite game series ever (Ace Attorney) is mostly narrative. And there we have games like Disgaea, which I like a lot but gameplay sometimes hurts more than helps and generally the game would be nothing without story.
  4. Celeste is very simple, but looks great in movement.
  5. Well, if we look into the source code, it shows questions are weighted, but other than that it's simple multiplier depending if you agree or not and how much. So it's not really perfect and on top of that the test wasn't touched for 2 years. Newer open issues remain unanswered by creators. Still I like that it gives 4 axes instead of just 2, because politics are much more complicated than society usually treats them.
  6. I don't like this test. There's no neutral option for any question and sometimes we have ones like that Which while I think I correct I don't necessarily believe that it overweights the disadvantages. So what should I pick and will test interpret that? Another thing, I couldn't find how or even if questions are weighted. And my results: (I have no idea how to embed this image) https://www.politicalcompass.org/yourpoliticalcompass?ec=-5.5&soc=-5.64 Now, I prefer 8values test which shows groups views in 4 categories instead of 2, has neutral option and is open source.
  7. It's by no means a perfect game. Gameplay for example is very limited. Searching for radio station, while I really liked it and it gave great atmosphere also became bit tedious with time. And there was so much walking. Still, I overall enjoyed it, but it might be one of those cases when I found a game out of nowhere and have absolutely no expectations so it seemed better than it would if it was recommended to me.
  8. Yeah, I also liked it. BTW, it seems dialogues go differently depending how you respond, so it might be a factor in why people have different feeling about them.
  9. Compiling boring stuff at work.
  10. When exercising that right hurts child more than action from government would.
  11. I remember this game. It's... fine. Bit ugly and clumsy to control. The story has it strong points, but overall it's pretty forgettable. Puzzles? I remember looking into solution quite often and not regret it at all.
  12. I think it would be great to have art preservation laws requiring companies to release source code publicly in case of game being dead for given amount of time (few months sounds fair to me). Only part that's unavailable should be released. If nothing else, it would motivate them to keep games available. But I realize it's unlikely to happen as companies will protect their products even if they do noting with them and there's not much push from people.
  13. Well, you'll always gonna find some people. It's the internet. It's made of huge amount of people and it's really great at highlighting the most extreme ones. And then, there's possibly some false flagging on top of that. And I totally understand people getting concerned about it. I've met some total nuts myself, but even among ones who complain about those issues, most are normal, reasonable people. We don't always agree, but even than I'm able to understand their points.
  14. I can't understand how people aren't seriously mad about it. And the fact you can't find ones actually defending them is beyond my imagination.
  15. While I'm big sucker for a narrative in games, story in Half-Life isn't all that interesting. One thing it does though is providing great atmosphere, but it wouldn't hold the game alone, if gameplay wasn't great.
  16. I really recommend the sequel – "Harvey's New Eyes", even before playing this one. It improves on a lot of things and you absolutely don't need to know what happens in the original to enjoy it. It's also a very dark game, so it's not for everybody.
  17. And that's not even the worst of what CEOs actually have to say about their business.
  18. Well, that's the thing. We're so used to seeing politics in media, we barely notice it. Unless it's something we don't agree with or some controversial topic.
  19. But is it that they prioritize politics or just that they do it badly? The core or Final Fantasy VII is about environment and how corporations are bad. Disgaea is about tolerance. Witcher takes on several issues such as sexism, again tolerance, sex workers… The Cave discuss morality. The Binding of Isaac – religion. Ace Attorney is a critique of Japanese legal system. Papers, Please… one doesn't get much more political than that one. And everyone is waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 which has political movement right in the name and what we've seen of it so far shows it's gonna have politics in it as well. And those are just some titles for which politics are fundamental part of them. It doesn't mean games need to be political or are inherently better by having politics in them, but it's worth remembering when thinking about politics in games.
  20. I'm bit oversensitive on the issue, but I don't like complaining about something just for being "political". There's nothing inherently wrong with politics as it's very important part of life. And way too often, people complain about stuff being political only when it's politics they don't like. Hell, huge portion of videos from Accursed Farms is fundamentally political. The real issue with those types of comments is almost never that they are political, but what they actually say or how they say it. But saying something is political often gives more moral ground than straight up disagreeing with politics themselves. Of course one can be simply tired of seeing certain political topics and that's totally legit, but I believe treating being political as something fundamentally wrong isn't doing us any favors. Recently game developers are scared to admit their products have anything political in them, which is a shame as is limits what they may be willing to show and tell in their games. And I prefer to see games that I don't agree with over ones that are afraid to say anything. Look at me, writing lengthy response to something said casually without any bad meaning behind it. But even though it isn't case with Wwen, people demanding from games to not have politics in them fit perfectly into this thread, so I'm not totally off-topic, right?
  21. I've seen people play this one. It's not very good, but it's great to watch good salty playthrough.
  22. Well, I see many fundamental differences between forums and social media. For once social media are global and that means You don't know and won't get to know most people you talk with. When on forum you also know them as not only some who just said something awful, but you know, people. They cannot be moderated in the same way. Rules on social media must be applicable to everyone and you can't relay on good moderation. Aside from that we must rely on algorithms to bring us content that they bring worthy – meaning content which will make you stay longer on the page, which tends to be flammatory.
  23. Except none of examples you showed or those people tend to target are really about "what others can and cannot like". Whether or not those claims hold any water, they are about stuff people believe to be offensive or racist or harmful in some way. This is interesting and complicated topic and I would love to discuss it, but in terms of what the problem really is and not by just bringing it to simplest, one sided caricature.
  24. I believe the fact that society is more polarized than ever is even more reason to take part in those discussions. It shows people that you can have such discussion and be civil about it, because seeing too much of bad examples makes people automatically except bad things and act accordingly. This is why I hate social media. It naturally creates environment fueling such behavior. I'm probably babbling too much, responding to part of post that wasn't even opposed to my opinion.
