Gonna have THAT tab open 24/7, I know that for sure.

Aww but I liked that song.

That voice acting is just. Wow. I can understand and encourage keeping a sense of camp, but that is just shit. Not camp, not exaggerated, but just plain shit. Everything else looks good as shit though.

Care to provide a source?

Bought Mass Effect 1 and 2 in the Steam Sale. Got perfect ending in MAss Effect 2. Strengths of Mass Effect: Extremely well crafted universe. The Paragon/Renegade is something I hold up as a true morality system. It's not simply good or evil, more Compassionate Helper Hero or Pragmatic if Racist Anti-Hero. The plot is very engaging. Virmire Lots of other stuff Weaknesses: The shooting is just bad. Loot system is needless, tedious and hopelessly dated. Same goes for the "Pick your permanent class before you even know what they ARE" system A little too talky in places, but necessarily so to establish said universe. Neutral choices are worthless unless you're going all Paragon/Renegade (I'm Paragade). Upgrade system has a lot of choices, but there's very little noticeable impact with upgrades. Strengths of Mass Effect 2: Dynamic Endings TIM Loyalty missions give great character development and help you connect much closer to the characters. Shooting is much, much better. Now you aren't essentially limited to only ever using one type of gun. The refined HUB system keeps the tangible size of the world while also avoiding having the programmers actually make decent vehicle physics. Planet scanning can potentially add to immersion with the right mindset. Upgrades have much more impact, but the small AMOUNT of potential upgrades mean you don't have much room for alternate class builds. Reduces the game from Action RPG to Action Game with notable RPG elements. Thane's Voice. Other stuff Weaknesses: Planet scanning is fucking awful if you can't put yourself in a good mindset. While the plot itself was fun what with the "Build a team of misfits together to perform a suicide mission (And prove them wrong)", it didn't feel like it did much for the overall arc aside from add some cool characters and bridge between ME1's "We have to prevent the Reaper invasion's normal method" and ME3's (Assumed as I will not pay $60 for a fucking digital game) "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Game felt a little too easy and afraid to throw meaty hordes at you. Jacob is boring While I do not mind the "Do some cover based shooting relevant to plot then more plot and dialogue choices" system, the lack of any real gameplay aside from the cover-based shooting made the game feel a little token. From what I can tell, most of the DLC is stuff that was supposed to be in the main game but was cut. Whether solely to make it DLC or for legitimate time concerns, I'd prefer to not know. My FemShep also harbors guilt over Will do opinions on Mass Effect 3 when EA pulls their head out of its ass and realizes the point of Digital Distribution is that you can sell more games for cheaper prices than physical retail and make more profit.

FPS Tower Defense? I can dig it.

TBH, this and the last few episodes have been lackluster. Mostly because there isn't much to say about what happens in them. "Gordon Freeman heads outside, everything blows up" Can't wait till it gets to Xen, then thing'll get more interesting.

Thanks, Steam Summer Sale!

Because no one gives a fuck in the future. They're too busy dealing with the universal social issues to notice.

Meet the Pyro is proof that people have too much of a hair trigger to anything with the slightest bit of a childish nature.
-
According to that one Rock, Paper Shotgun interview, Black Mesa is not going to be saying "We shouldn't do this because this admittedly dated FPS from 1998 that we're reimagining didn't do it."

Are you glad that Nintendo is still doing so well?
Bravetriforcer replied to mehdawg654's topic in Gaming in general
The WiiU has much potential, including but not limited to: Free to Play support Removing the "Limitations" excuse from FPSes and inventory management. The social aspects I'm glad they're doing so well just so I get to see whether the WiiU can live up to what it is can be. Then again I played Tribes Ascend since closed beta, so I'm used to things completely failing at becoming the greatness they could be. -
SMITE Closed Beta. A VERY interesting idea, with my main issue being its store system. But that's being (Semi) addressed tomorrow it seems, so all it really needs is balancing, UI improvements, and graphical polish.

That made me smile. Good job.

If you're gonna steal Zero Punctuation's jokes right at least word them right.
-
Considering they said they're starting a "Social media campaign" (Ugh) that's leading to their "First release", I think 2013 may actually be a bit of an overshot.

Noticing that Assassin's Creed 3 has regenerating health. Suddenly my excitement over the game has gone from "Bursting with glee" to a lukewarm "Maybe I'll buy it later on when it's cheap."

Pondering the Wii U and whether it seems like something I'd like to buy when I have the cash. It'll mostly come down to the price of the console itself as well as its games.

All I saw was a sand box game where you held the camera over icons until you saw red, listened to exposition and then used a radial menu of set "Hacking" powers to perform what is likely the one single solution that makes the mission take its next step to completion. And of course the inescapable cancer of modern action games: Cover-based shooting with enough ammo in the hyper-useful starting pistol to give no tension to even that. I don't see what people go gaga over in this aside from the possibility of "Hacking" everything for cathartic giggles.

Ok. Now how about we wait 5 years when the actual consumer could reasonably be expected to run that on their computers?

I've been following this game for some time now and every new thing I hear about it makes my boner even bigger. Still not sure of which faction to support, though.
