  1. The iPhone 5 scratches more easily than the iPhone 4/4s. Okay, but seriously, my non-tech savvy friend (who I'm close to calling a tech idiot) thought a Firewire 800 connection was the same as an Ethernet Port. He was so convinced of this that he forced the Firewire 800 plug into the Ethernet port and damaged the male end of the FW cable and possibly the Ethernet port. I probably won't find out if his Ethernet survived since he never uses a hardwire connection for network access. Now, here's the funny part. The enclosure he has is one of those Seagate goflex ones with the swuappable interfaces... he bought it with eSATA... his laptop has eSATA... yet he spent the extra money to get the FW800 adapter that he can't even use without an express card! Doh!
  2. Which utility are you using for overclocking? Have you tried others? Also, it's possible that the GPU has a funky firmware or BIOS or something that prevents shader/core overclocking. Lenovo is weird about that stuff sometimes, since there's a bunch of Wifi cards floating around the internet with a Lenovo firmware on them that detects whether you're using a Lenovo computer and the model of said computer. If both of those don't check out, the card just refuses to work properly.
  3. Funny, I'm actually seriously considering going with an AMD card as my next graphics card. From what I'm reading, they have better support in the Linux community and it helps (or doesn't help) that the pricing is more appealing than the competing Nvidia cards. Of course, no buying new hardware for me until Black Friday or Cyber Monday. This is a great solution for those needing PhysX support but already have a satisfactory AMD card to work with. You can actually set up your computer to use both an AMD and Nvidia card pretty easily, it just takes a minor hack that's no more complicated than following a set of instructions. The tutorial here (http://www.overclock.net/t/1306374/how-to-use-a-nvidia-card-as-physx-while-using-amd-for-primary/10) shows how to do it with certain cards, so your mileage may vary.

  5. I don't get insulted by little things like people making references to a problem or issue I just so happen to have. It's petty to get mad over something that's just a coincidence and that the other person likely didn't know about. Now, if they address me directly and insult me, that's a different issue entirely.
  6. I'm not surprised, every major presidential election I've voted in has had issues like these, and things have been bad since at least 2000 since that was hardly a controversy and trouble-free election (I won't speak for earlier elections than that because I wasn't old enough to pay attention to politics and haven't researched them myself). More issues arise and existing issues just get worse with each passing election, even for the non-presidential elections, which means that the election process needs change for the better.
  7. Because the Polish don't know what good candy is :-\ I say this being part Polish, or a Polock if we wanna get a lil racist. Why do retail stores put up Christmas Decorations before the end of October?
  8. Banned because that's the same face I have when girls wearing cut-offs walk by
  9. Yeah, if you can get TOR up and running, you should be able to get around most censorships no problem.
  10. Didn't vote for them, but dayum that's a nice ass!
  11. Does anyone else miss when game consoles were really colorful, like with the N64 and Nintendo Gamecube? Now it's like everyone goes for black or white, with maybe a limited edition console coming out every so often. Sure, the DS/3DS are available in different colors, but that's Nintendo still.
  12. It'd be easier for me to list games I hate rather than my favorites XD Right now, my favorites are Mafia 2 and Borderlands 1.
  13. Hm, that's odd. Maybe Fedora thinks you're being too paranoid. Then again, I've had problems in the past with installing Linux OSes from USB before, so maybe it was just bad luck. Those numbers seem legit, though I'd be curious about how well heat transfers out to the bottom of the laptop and how hot that gets. I imagine most people don't regularly use laptops on their laps these days, but hey, there are probably some who do.
  14. Did you ever put linux on that old laptop? Which install did you choose?
  15. Does anyone else have names for their fists? I can't help but think I should name mine, maybe give them Irish names...
  16. Banned for reminding me of a Princess Molestia comic.
  17. I believe Dinner Time is the Latin term for Time for Dinner. If you're asking what's up with that .gif earlier in the thread... Well... Blue, that's your new Wednesday night.
  18. Let's just hope it's actually apple juice this morning
  19. *camera pans to the sky* YOU FUCKING CACTAURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. If anyone's interested, these aren't movies, but there's a channel on youtube doing mini let's plays of scary-ish games every day this month.
  21. Hey guys, remember that one time where Matt threw that fire axe into that one bottomless pit?
  22. That question obviously wasn't meant for me, so NEXT! How many times must I slap you before you act right?
  23. My wallpaper isn't too exciting at the moment, but it's really orangey and I think it fits in with the changing seasons right now.
  24. I think Opposing Force took the most realistic approach to melee weapon use in the HL-verse. It even took it to a point where you had two melee weapons: the knife, quick but meh on damage, and the pipe-wrench (I own several of these in honor of Mr. Shepard, haha), which was slow but hit pretty fricking hard.
  25. Don't forget the Flutterbooms!
