I Made A Game Dungeon Tribute Painting
ScumCoder replied to NickLives's topic in Ross's Game Dungeon
Oh my God is this a masterpiece. Although I'm ashamed to admit that I don't recognize the guy in a ball cap standing in front of the entrance. -
I can confirm. Due to certain circumstances, the TMNT comics were the first (and for many years the only) introduction to this franchise that I ever had. And because back then my parents weren't fully understanding what comic books are, they just thought all comics are for kids (the cover is colorful, has some bipedal animals, so it's obvious, right) and it's OK to buy some of them for ~8 years old me without even checking what's inside. Needless to say, the rather hardcore violence and body horror left some scars on my psyche. I guess I should thank the TMNT comics for partially making me who I am, the same way Ross is thankful to Spiderbot.

Well, the game series was itself aborted and incomplete, so I think reviewing it this way was fitting I remember getting this game on the same pirate DVD with Half-Life 2: Episode One. Since I never played the original SiN, it looked kinda drab to me and I stopped playing after maybe an hour. (It didn't help that I played it right after finishing HL2EP1, so my subconscious mind kept telling me that I'm playing a mediocre HL2 mod). But you know what? I liked the menu theme so much that I ripped it into my MP3 player (and because back in 2006 I had no idea how to hack the resource files, I connected the line output of my MB to its own line input and recorded it that way, just because I loved it that much). And now I find out that this song - literally the only thing that stuck with me out of this whole game - was almost removed by the managers.

Jeez man.

What a perfect way to end the year. Have a nice good rest Ross, let's consider it a combined NY / belated birthday present.

Four years later all I can do is repeat the same words. Happy Birthday, Ross. Be safe, stay healthy, and continue pursuing your dreams.

ROSS'S GAME DUNGEON: AIDA'S STRANGE CHRISTMAS
ScumCoder replied to Ross Scott's topic in Ross's Game Dungeon
Thanks so much, Ross. This is EXACTLY what I wanted for Christmas. -
14:50 I think Crossborder wins the Quote of the Evening award.

Ничего себе заявка. Милости прошу к нашему шалашу, покажите мастер-класс.

Man, I love Anachronox so much. The amount of talent and soul put in this game is staggering.
-
It would suck real hard to die and find the same bureaucratic shit on the other side too.

Man, thanks so much for the link. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. limbo.mp4

This is probably the smoothest Halloween RGD production I remember. Pretty much all previous episodes were either done under horrible crunch and released at the last second, or the initial plans were trashed and Ross had to activate plan J or K. I guess Ross just slowly accustomed himself to Ross Time?

I always thought that in Warhammer universe looking cool just magically makes you more powerful, because the whole world is a mix of interwoven physical and psychological stuff. E.g. orcs' sincere belief in that their crude machinery should work actually makes it work, against all laws of physics. And just like that, human ships looking like Catholic cathedrals ACTUALLY make them quantifiably stronger. So it's the same with swords - they look cooler than guns, thus they are OBJECTIVELY MORE POWERFUL than guns.

Guys, I think we found this year's winner: Steven Novak from East Dallas. I can't see how you could top that.

38:53 For some reason this EPIC ending reminded me of the 1988 "Ghostbusters" game for Famicom. It didn't show the ending and credits due to programming bugs (mainly the game trying to read the ending text from the wrong CHR-ROM page). Instead, beating the game produces a blank screen that lasts for about a minute, eventually followed by the text "りり" (riri) scrolling into the screen. The game is also obtuse as fuck, so this ending is rather fitting and completes the whole experience. (I remember 10-year-old me and my friends were thinking that those hieroglyphs look like tits). Obviously "Clans" has a decent outro cinematic, but while watching Ross's video I didn't rule out the possibility that when you beat the game you actually do get nothing but a half-of-a-second picture accompanied by a ba-dum-tss.

1:07:13 Dr. Manhattan was mine I was playing as Trickster, which is basically what Ross would be if he was a superhero: a hero whose superpower is that he randomly spawns random weird shit around him and has no control over that. Sometimes I spawn several blue Dr. Manhattans

Well, at the time of this writing the torrent was downloaded by 11 people. Plus, as you remember, I created it because ThatOneDraffan specifically asked for it. So I'm pretty sure at least some people were actively trying to download it for the better part of past month P.S. I think the actual reason is that those trackers should have been added by the leechers as well for the announce system to work. I guess I should have made a post here about that. Whoops...
-
Wheee, I finally got a leech! Although... he is from China (Also I must say that I followed Bullseye's advice and added trackers... for some reason it didn't help much)

Oh man, this has to suck so hard. I'm at 20 lvl, and I had an insane plan to go up 30 levels during last week (kind of like in that South Park episode) just to be able to play with Ross, but didn't have the guts to spend whole week on playing SWL. But if I were at level 49, that would probably be the ultimate orgasm denial. I don't think I could take it.
