Seattleite's thread regarding his total conversion mod got me wondering. Could you imagine a Fallout 3/FNV/Fallout 4/etc recreation of Eternam? Maybe I've just got Fallout on the brain lately, but for a laugh and to keep my brain occupied whilst at work I've been imagining all the game reviewed in Ross's Gaming Dungeon. For Eternam, you could find enough room in FNV's map (or both exterior and interior locations) to cram interpretations of Eternam's various anachronistic zones. The environmental colour and lights could probably be altered to appear more lurid and unreal, though seeing bits of the vanilla game awkwardly sticking out amongst all the cod-medieval/French revolution paraphernalia would sort of work in the games favour. I also guess you have to edit and repurpose the Cazador, Eyebot and Mister Gutsy models a great deal, to recreate all of Eternam's floating enemies.

Funny story. I had somewhat amusing and topic related dream about three nights ago. For some unfathomable reason I had a computer at work (I work in the produce department of a supermarket) right in the middle of the aisles, like it was the most normal thing I could be doing at the time. I was watching what was obviously Freeman's Mind episode that took place in the game Slender: The Arrival. He kept cracking jokes about working with children and how he was effectively committing every single dumb thing characters in horror movies do. He also complained excessively about his ropey camera quality.

6/10, Respect for Mr. Pop, but I've read better tributes to Bowie since his demise. "I secretly think reality exists so we can speculate about it." - Slavoj Žižek

In the games defence, you could get the same treatment anywhere on the internet... :3

Other countries/locations in the Fallout universe

Same here, would be a nice tribute to the Mad Max influence... I'm wondering what the Aussie equivalent of a Fallout soundtrack the settings radio stations would go for. What kind of music was the hot shit in Australia during the mid fifties? Not that we should limit ourselves to that particular decade, its best to go with whatever felt more quintessentially Aussie in terms of popular culture. -
Thanks for the clarification. It's certainly entering odd genre territory, a kind of fantasy-infused America, both familiar and strange simultaneously. Perhaps you could have some "quantum-locked" enemy, which would physically invincible yet cannot move whilst being observed - ala Weeping Angels style from the Doctor Who franchise. In retrospect, reading back on your earlier ideas before the game was released, the new engine and game mechanics are certainly going to be challenging to get to grips with, now that the Fallout modding community has pretty much wrung much of the potential in Fallout 3 and FNV. In all honesty, and I hope this doesn't douse your spirits, but because I'm not a dedicated PC gamer I'm unlikely to ever play it. For a start my system is barely capable of running an old school point n' click game, yet alone vanilla Fallout 4. I'd still like to see where this goes though, and maybe with your blessing I could perhaps recommend the mod for a Youtuber like the aforementioned AlChestbreach. That's about the extent of assistance I can offer you, but if your interested or not feel free to say yay or nay.

You'll have to forgive me for my ignorance, because I don't know anything about modding other than what I've learnt through Gaming channelers like AlChestbreach and whatnot. Is a total conversion mod like the game replacer mods Dust or Obscurum Pandemic for FNV? Now I've got that embarrassing n00b question out of the way, your ideas really piqued my interest. I'm curious to know more about this setting and its futuro-magical phenomena - I take it that your world isn't exactly related to the Fallout universe or its lore. I particularly enjoyed reading the list of enemies and the models you propose to use for them. I'm one of those heretical nutcases that actually prefers Fallout 4 over the previous installments, so unlike some who have replied to your thread I'm supportive of a total conversion mod for the engine. The only vague bugbear with Fallout 4 I can think of is how limited dialogue mechanics will work for homebrewed quest mods, it was the one aspect of the game that I felt was an unfortunate departure for the franchise. I read your intro script both and I approve of the unsettling weirdness of it, but couldn't help wondering how on earth you would go about programming all the props and actions. I guess all I can say is good luck, and I hope you keep updating the thread with anything new you come up with. I'd love to discuss this some more with you! EDIT: Anything featuring The Jersey Devil and "extra-planar locations you can visit" can't be bad, in my book.

Other countries/locations in the Fallout universe

I have to admit I find it odd that Fallout has that stylized 1950's look, despite the pre-war setting taking place in an alternative late 21st century. I suppose fashion and cultural design can be cyclical, but presumably some equivalent of the 60's, 70's, 80', 90's, etc took place with all their attendant tropes and trends. I find it hard to believe that all the consensus and aesthetics of this parallel modern society remained basically the same for that long. Awkward game realizations aside, a British Fallout game with a distinctly mods, rockers n' hippies tone would be awesome. I think an actual game would definitely lean towards the more Anglo-American stereotype of London, as opposed to the industrial Midlands upbringing I'm more used to. I'm from Tamworth, which is very close to the city of Birmingham, logistically sparring with Manchester as England's "second city". Birmingham, along with other large Midlands towns like Wolverhampton, Nottingham and Derby were the breeding grounds of early heavy metal music, Black Sabbath were brummies after all! In my wildest and most unfettered dreams, Fallout: Birmingham would be one of the most desirable locales for the series, it being one of the most heavily industrialized and culturally/ethnically diverse places in the country. The amount of potential mutant wildlife in a Fallout: Outback makes me giddy... :3 -
Having not actually seen it my response to your question is, alas, limited. The description in the imdb link makes it sound like an interesting twist on the horror cliche of setting an annoying youthful cast against a murderous antagonist. If you could live in any fantasy or sci-fi building, what would you pick and why? Provide pictures of your chosen abode if you like.

5/10, anime isn't really something I know a great deal about. Handsome man, though. Not effete and coyly androgynous in the way most anime boys are.

I'm actually fairly impressed you haven't heard of Bowie until now. He's so culturally ubiquitous. That's like being a Mormon and not knowing who John the Baptist was!
-
Bowie has underpinned pretty much cultural and artistic endevour for almost half a century. Whether or not you are a fan of the man's music, I don't think anyone can legitimately denounce him as overrated or uninteresting, not without coming across as needlessly cynical and bitter. "I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human. I felt very puny as a human. I thought, "Fuck that. I want to be a superhuman."

This looks seriously interesting, combining two of my favourite things, Lovecraft and Point n' Click games. I might have to check this one out, if only for the barmy trailer I watched on the Steam page. Thanks for bringing it to my attention Trivlari! :3

I have a soft spot for the short but sweet soundtrack of McPixel, a rather simple but very amusing Wario Ware-esque game in which the titular character has a few seconds to figure out what to do in a particular scene. The 8-bit style of the music results in a sound that shockingly minimal (the same percussion samples are pretty much used throughout the entire game, for all tracks) yet surprisingly memorable. It only consists of six measly songs because there is so little of the game to go around, but they are all rad as balls. x1yeDbKiTVM Looking up the aforementioned game, I accidentally stumbled upon this soundtrack for a game called Cave Story. I have absolutely no idea what it's about or if its even any good, but if you like melodious and twee chiptune music you you likely find something to tickle your earbuds. nSh1xK8aFCg
