  1. I NOW KNOW WHY CAVE JOHNSON GAVE SCIENTISTS MACHINE GUNS TO FIGHT OFF PRAYING MANTISES. And FUCK! I just had a dream the other night where I was trapped in a green house with a large praying mantis chasing me and trying to climb into my ears! WHY MUST THE BUGS FORESAKE ME!?
  2. I heard that getting Xboned is contagious. Likely this place caught it after that Xbone thread went up. I really need to keep track of how often I actually get to say Xboned or Xbone or Xboner in this place, like that one shitty south park episode.
  3. Especially by the parents and grandparents buying it for their (grand)children, unless they get confused and buy the first generation Xbox instead. Hopefully now that we know the PS4 is $100 cheaper than the Xbone that the Xbone won't sell well this holiday season. Hell, I hope the WiiU sees a price reduction to help boost its sales over the Xbone now that some good games are headed its way.
  4. This place is dead. I blame the Xbone.
  5. NO.... NO! If the bug I had to defeat looked anything like that, I probably would've escorted it outside. This one though... fuck, can roaches and moths crossbreed? BECAUSE I THINK THAT SHIT IS HAPPENING HEREEEEE!
  6. I'm going to have to disagree with the biased thing there. The fact that she chose to focus her research on finding examples of sexism against women shows that she went into her subject with a preconceived notion of what she was going to find and how it should be interpreted. I think that in itself is close enough to the definition of being biased to validate the claims made her and throughout the internet. And that is one of the main reasons as to why the videos are getting so much backlash. If her analysis of the portrayal of women in video games was the least bit fair and approached with facts instead of her own personal interpretations on the subject, then it's possible that this topic wouldn't be as opposed to her videos as it has been thus far. Personally, the only thing I'm asking from her videos is a proper analysis of the subject, not one fueled by her own ideology.
  7. I'm getting so sick of being stuck in a home where things are either dead silent or filled with constant yelling and bickering. If I had people in my life I'd consider for roommates, I'd probably be gone already, but too bad people suck. EDIT: HOLY SHIT I JUST WENT INTO THE OTHER ROOM AND THERE WAS THIS BIG BUG THING WITH WINGS ON THE FLOOR I KNEW IT WASN'T DEAD BECAUSE BUGS HERE DO THAT EVEN IF THEY'RE ALIVE LIKE A FUCKING OPOSSUM SO I SQUISHED IT AND IT WAS LOUD AND MESSY EW EW EW BUGS FUCK!

    Oops

If you bolt it down, it should be fine. Well, this is Ross we're talking about... he might beast mode that thing off the desk. My dad did that for a while before he decided to get a bigger desk to put his tower on, and it had case feet to lift it up a few inches, so that reduced the risk of spills. I'm currently set up in the same way, my tower sits on my desk and I never worry about what would happen if I knocked over my drink lol.
  10. Oz the Great and Powerful: 7/10 A decent movie with some odd casting choices. The special effects were great and the story was fun, but purposely predictable.
  11. The PS4 has a strong lead against the Xbone. Microsoft really made it possible for Sony to do this, having given away much of the Xbone's features/problems before Sony's main press conference. Sony did a good job with specifically highlighting certain features that the PS4 will have over the Xbone without necessarily calling out their competitor. Plus they nailed the price, although there's some speculation about online play with the PS4 that needs to be cleared up before that price can be taken as-is. The only thing that both companies have fumbled the ball on, in my opinion, is day 1 game titles for both systems. I've yet to see any games to justify a console purchase on release date.
  12. The Darkness 2. This game feels so fucking hype.
  13. I wouldn't trust Microsoft as far as you can kick Balmer. Another concern that a few others have already expressed is the possibility of Xbox's servers going down due to a hack, much like Sony a few years back. In that case, you'd be fucked. Also, what'll happen if the next generation of Xbox comes out, again ignores backward compatibility (although at this point that'd be fucking ridiculous since consoles are basically PCs in terms of hardware), and decides to shut down the Xbox One servers? Again, your investment is boned. What's sad still, is that many Xbox One units will be sold this year. Not because of informed individuals that know what they're buying, but because of those who aren't.
  14. So in case no one has seen this yet, Xbox Wire recently posted some FAQs about the One, Privacy, and DRM. http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license I find it funny how Microsoft is trying to place the gruff on game trade-ins and used game sales in general on the publishers. Regardless of whether the publishers can choose how to handle game trade-ins and used games, Microsoft is still at fault because they're providing the infrastructure for publishers to do this in the first place. However, with publishers being money-grubbing bastards in general, maybe this is for the best. Maybe with or without Microsoft, publishers would move to try to implement their own console DRM system. At least with Microsoft, everything is centralized. That still doesn't make this shit fly though.
  15. They knew you loved every minute of it, so they gave you more to do
  16. Being sad about a news story about neglectful dog owners. They owned an aggressive pitbull and a pug who both had dominance issues. One day, the pitbul lashes out on the pug and blinds its left eye. The next day, the pug goes home, the owners put it back in the yard with the pitbul, and a few hours later the pug loses its right eye. Between this and Orca, I'm feeling more empathetic towards animals than people.
  17. BOTS. BOTS FUCKING EVERYWHERE!
  18. Granted, but it'll come out only on Betamax. Not even Beta could've saved the Dreamcast I wish the summer sales would start soon!
  19. The people I work with aren't worth the air they breathe. I'm getting sick of trying to have lively conversations only to be shot down either by one or more of my coworkers. I'm not obnoxious, really I'm quite timid despite how I appear here sometimes. It's not like my speaking can automatically provoke these reactions despite context. Usually I don't let this bother me, since I can shoot them down harder than they can shoot me down, but I got caught with my metaphorical pants down recently and I second-guessed myself. WELL, I came home and looked up the topic we were discussing, which was gravity, to only find that my position was the correct one! But no, I let myself get shot down by a college dropout who can't support himself without his wife and a fucking psychology student. I accept that the loss was overall my fault, but I can't tolerate the level of stupidity that ended up overwhelming me. Luckily, I have my dispositions to keep me sane and feeling like myself. I can't identify with the general populace that inhabits this country, never have been able to nor will I ever.
  20. Making flashcards for trig. Should've done this during my break.
  21. Orca - 8/10 A good movie once you realize it's not just another movie trying to be Jaws, because it's far from that. The special effects are fairly good and stock footage is used well for the most part (except for one clip that is used repeatedly, sometimes with a day-to-night filter). An interesting cult-movie, I'd recommend watching it. It's free if you have an Amazon Prime membership.
  22. Same as what's been said above. However, without them I probably would've missed out on Freeman's Mind in its early days, as well as several other awesome youtube channels.
  23. Played through another chapter of HL2 this morning.
  24. The negative opinions expressed here aren't against Anita as a person, but rather the arguments she presents. That difference needs to be recognized since one paints those of us who have commented so far have not addressed Anita personally, but rather the arguments she has presented. I could go on to object to this project entirely, encompassing the people involved as well as the arguments, but I don't feel that's appropriate for a thread posted in the video games section of the forum. I think my counter example to her use of Double Dragon Neon calls into question how well-researched her project has been thus far. The analysis of Princess Peach was fair, I won't argue with that one, however when she tossed out counter examples of her appearances in non-mainline Mario games for no reason (seeing as these types of games outsell standard Mario titles in many gaming generations), I felt that was a blatant example of her cherry-picking facts to support a preconceived notion she held before even starting this project. Also, the way Princess Zelda has been portrayed in these videos is extremely shallow and an insult to the actual character.
  25. First Person NPC Shop Simulator.
