  1. Mediterranean Shark Attack - 6.5/10 This movie tries to be everything a shark attack movie should be. It takes elements from movies such as Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, and Shark Attack 3: Megoladon, and melds them into a great shark flick. The effects are very good, I'd say close to Deep Blue Sea at times and Shark Attack 3 at others. The movie suffers from a horrible English dub (I watched on Netflix, so no choice to switch), where the main character VA is the weakest of the cast. It's similar to Heavy Rain to that effect. There are some parts that are laughably bad, but after about 15 minutes the movie starts to look like it's trying to be a good shark thriller. Without a doubt, this is one of the better shark/sea monster-themed movies I've seen in recent years.
  2. Finally bought the original Bioshock for PC this week. $5 on Amazon.
  3. Banned cuz mine are bigger.
  4. Got yourself a shit-eating grin?
  5. Political Simulation. Gotta filibuster congress and hide your crazy.
  6. Banned for PATRIARCHY!
  7. I'm also not a fan of her arguments, simply because they're built with the intent for pushing this pseudo-feminist (I'd hope that most feminists don't think this way, I like to give women credit for their ability of higher reasoning than this) stance and don't fairly evaluate the issues she presents. For example, in part one of her 'documentary', she uses the game Dragon's Lair to illustrate the damsel in distress problem as a poor portrayal of women in video games. Yet, she doesn't touch down on the character of Dirk the Daring, who can be easily illustrated as a negative male image using Sarkeesian's same argument method. Think about it, we have a character that doesn't speak throughout the entire game except for screaming like a coward when he fails. How is that a fair representation of the male gender? Let's also look at another game with a damsel in distress situation, Double Dragon. Should Billy and Jimmy have simply left Marian alone to meet her fate at the hands of the Shadow Warriors? According to Sarkeesian, yes. She was right about one thing, though; the damsel in distress isn't about the woman, but rather it's about a person (usually a man) fighting against many opposing factors to ensure the safety of someone they care about. How is that a bad thiing? A lot of her statements are also lacking additional support, such as peer review studies. It's hard to take her statements as facts when she's not offering much proof outside of her own words. Not to mention that she never once addressed the many examples where women are represented as empowering characters in video games, which happens a lot more than you'd believe based on her videos. Claire from RE2 wasn't a damsel. Alyx from HL2 isn't a damsel, and in fact rescues Gordon from civil protection on more than one occasion. Samus has remained valiant through alien attacks. Elizabeth in Bioshock: Infinite was essentially a god who didn't need Booker to protect her. Chell has defeated evil robots three times (Glados, Glados again, then Wheatley). Did anyone see the ending to Double Dragon Neon? I don't think a weak Marian would be able to break someone else's balls like that, especially when she has one of the best power poses I've seen in games in a long time. I could go on, but I'm beating a dead horse here.
  8. RAM, no. GPU, possibly. I know from working with test benches, testing graphic and CPU configurations, that Windows will usually be fine unless you do a motherboard swap. However, I have seen Windows invalidate itself because too much hardware has been used with a single license, so it thinks you're using the license on different machines, when you're using it on the same machine with a minor upgrade. From that, it's possible that it will invalidate itself, but it shouldn't void it since the Windows 7 OEM license identifies the system based on the motherboard, or so that's what my mentors told me. That being said, you should be fine on both fronts. If it does, you can always call Microsoft to get your license revalidated or go another route to activate windows. I actually had to call Microsoft to get my student edition of Office activated, and aside from the thick accent, the process there was painless. I imagine it'd be even easier to validate a Windows license.
  9. Realizing SeaWorld is neither the time nor the place to punch a dolphin in the teeth.
  10. I'm not a trekkie myself, but I thought Enterprise was good enough for a watch. Not as good as the original series or next generation, but still decent television.
  11. Of all the things to choose from, the name is what you vent about? I guess the required fee to play used games isn't nearly as bad... or the fact that every console comes with a camera that can watch your every move. DAMNIT CONSOLE MAKERS, GLOSS SUCKS MAJOR SEGA BALLS! STOP MAKING THINGS GLOSSY!
  12. Hawken, I'm sad that I didn't even see this game had come out since I was really hyped for it when news for it first came up.
  13. Came back from vacation yesterday and found that water had broken through my ceiling while I was gone. FUCK!
  14. Half-Life 2, dunno why I felt the need to revisit this one. I guess I don't need a reason though. It's just that awesome.
  15. And those implications just feel like additional efforts to shoe-horn similarities between the different universes (granted its not as bad as that one fan-theory about Songbird that recently came up). They could've easily tied Infinite in with Uncharted or any other game if the right audio logs were present. I'm still unconvinced that this game fits in naturally with the other two games based on the narrative and gameplay styles.
  16. Saw Star Trek: Into Darkness yesterday. Just go see it. Right now! It's up there on my list of favorite Star Trek films.
  17. The upgraded Charge vigor came in real handy for those fights. You can usually take her out before the enemies can touch your life bar... I saved most of my money for reviving so I didn't get booted back to a checkpoint, I got a couple of gun upgrades and one upgrade on the Return To Sender vigour so there's no going back now. Huh, I find that peculiar. Some of my pet peeves about 1999 mode were how they kept the recharging shield and reviving system when few games from 1999 incorporated these things (I don't remember any off the top of my head). I refused to get revived in mid battle in 1999 mode and always chose to reset the game from checkpoints when I died because the penalty wasn't worth it imo.

  19. I'd have to say the 15th Security Guard you encounter in the original Half-Life. There's just something about him that's so... badass.
  20. Beat Infinite on 1999 mode last night. That final battle felt more difficult than I expected, although I was more frustrated by the way this game handles a real game over -.- Going back to Portal 2 now...
  21. Fucking Bioshock Infinite, man. Drives me nuts when you die and can't afford the revive penalty that the game forces you back to the main menu. From there, you can then go and restore your checkpoint. THE FUCK!? How about, like every other game that uses checkpoints, you just let me restart from the checkpoint after dying without booting me to the main menu?
  22. So I started 1999 mode the other day and am about 2/3rds the way through. I found Charge this time and have been using that A LOT more than I expected since it's basically drill dash and I abused that in Bioshock 2. There's plenty of gear that makes this vigor a boss in most situations, not to mention the upgrades. I don't get why other players bash it so much for being useless. Also, 1999 mode isn't nearly as hard as I expected it to be. It just feels like an extra-hard mode, but even then the shield can take a fair beating without any upgrades. Ammo and restorative items are just as plentiful as they were before, and the AI doesn't seem like it's any more aggressive than it is in hard mode. If it is, I haven't noticed the change outside of more resistive enemies that can hit harder. Also, I had a funny moment during the part of the game where and I somehow unlocked two achievements at once without even trying.
  23. Bioshock Infinite on 1999 mode. The difficulty of that mode is way overhyped *wears Dark Souls T-shirt*
  24. And it's not even noon here yet!
  25. I'd save up for at least a 3570k, since you can squeeze more performance out of it than the 3470 via overclocking. I'd also look into how your editing programs perform on the 3570k versus the AMD 8350. If the AMD performs better, that would save you money on the mobo since AMD-based boards typically run cheaper than Intel-based boards.
