The Duke Nukem Forever thread

Recommended Posts

I did the math a day ago. If Duke chewed a new piece of gum every five minutes, 24 hours a day, for 12 years, he'd have a wad over 2 million pieces big.

"That which you do not know, is not a moral charge against you; but that which you refuse to know, is an account of infamy growing in your soul. Make every allowance for errors of knowledge; do not forgive or accept any breach of morality."

Its time to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I am all out of gum.

It's still an entertaining one-liner when you switch the nouns around.

This is a nice metric server. No imperial dimensions, please.

I really enjoyed the podcast that talked about this games history! Quake to whichever engine it's on now, and history on the companies involved, as well as engines. GAH! SUCH A GOOD 20 MINUTES

According to Gearbox's FAQ the major sub-systems like rendering are built in-house.

dukenukemforever.com has plenty of new features, with no end to the flow in sight. Concept art (Most recently of the Duke Burger level), special podcasts (3 so far, 4 counting the Jon St. Jon "interview"), and a BRAND NEW version of Grabbag that plays on the site. This one is more in line with the original version of Grabbag from DN3D.

Original version:

Website Version (Not to be the game's actual theme): http://cdn.gearboxsoftware.com/dukenukemforever.com/assets/audio/Grabbag_Mix_1_V2_PhoMastered.mp3

Apparently Gearbox has all the old builds of DNF stored away ('Cept the 1998 version), and might be willing to let the community take a crack at what could have been:

And finally, Randy talks about Duke's history on Playstation, and how important it was to Gearbox for PS3 players to not get shafted in the porting situation:

I must say, Gearbox is impressing me with the songs they're using for the trailers. So far they've managed to make Techno (Invaders Must Die), Oldie Rock (The Babe Trailer), and fucking Hip-hop (The most recent trailer) fitting for Duke. Bravo, Gearbox, bravo. I mean Grabbag and Metal is nice, but a power chord and guitar solo just doesn't fit every situation.

I love you, yet can't stand to know you exist.
