Took the test again... I moved left a bit... Economic Left/Right: -2.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.23

And now my motherboard died... Looks like the VRMs on the left side overheated. At least the motherboard and SSD are both well within their warranty period, so I can RMA them. Hopefully ASRock doesn't want me to pay shipping. (HP probly will, but it's not expensive for something that small and light)

Actually, come to think of it... There aren't many reviews of this game that truly deal with its oddities... This would make an excellent Game Dungeon game.
-
The "why" is because the devs have an extremely low budget, and have had real life interfere with their game coding. Also, tech shortly after they started did a huge leap forward, and it is discouraging when you're stuck a generation behind the rest.

FYI, there are 6 games in the Avernum series, all based off the original games called "Exile".

The forums are the most active they've been in years! This is nice!

This game isn't, but there have been 3 Age of Wonders games previously... All were excellent IMO.
-
Been a huge fan of the series ever since the original Age of Wonders game.

One of my top 10 all-time favorite games. The original game was sadly limited by the technology of the time, or it could've been great. FPS/RTS hybrids are few and far between, and this is the best of them. I really wish there was a completely new one with a better UI, and some RPG elements.

Fun for a few hours... After you've beaten each of the included scenarios, it's boring beyond belief.
-
Feels incomplete to me when playing... Like there's no endgame content, just the initial building of things.
-
I kept getting lost on how to do anything... Can't really review a game that you can't play sufficiently.
-
It's pretty fun if you like real-time empire building type games. There's a LOT of stuff to do, and a lot of content.
-
A remarkably fun space shooter, similar to Freelancer. It has a few differences, but the overall feel is that of a slightly compressed universe (more stuff in it, less empty space, and faster travel) Freelancer.
-
Unfortunately, this game really hits on some of my phobias... I literally couldn't bring myself to go into the deepest parts because of the lack of any illumination and the really fast enemies.
-
While initially fun, it gets boring after about the second hour of play... Nothing really left to do at that point. You're either dead or sitting pretty on a self-sustaining colony by then.
-
I already purchased this on Steam. I actually saw it on Imgur, and whoever was running the account actually conversed with me saying that Freelancer (at one time my favorite game, and it's still on my top 10 list) was a significant inspiration. Definitely not a GaaS. (entirely offline singleplayer)

A note about serious topics (and others)

Sounds like maybe someone got reported for being opposed to someone else's viewpoints... Or for being a dick... -
Posting this before heading to take a shower and get ready for work.

Gambling with real money in virtual casinos has been around for decades... It's just included in GTA now.

The Division 2. Had to reinstall Windows because my <2 month old NVMe died... At least the volumetric fog and antialiasing glitch is gone... Averaging 90 FPS with all settings maxed @1080p.
