how you found FM

Recommended Posts

i found it by total accident...

my mum was studying for her open university course and was researching using youtube, she was researching the amount of time it takes for half the particles of a reactive substance to degrade, or, its half life... she found freeman`s mind by mistake, i was nearby and watched it then, i thought it was funny so i watched the whole series, up to episode 31 at that point (yes, i know, i`m a noob), i`m fairly fanatical now, having watched the whole series over and over again. so i am interested in how other people were introduced to this masterpiece, and finding out if any were as random and lucky as mine

I subscribed to Machinimas Channel for something totally different,

some show about a zombie apocalypse and nerds or something.

That was some months ago, I unsubscribed a few days later because

Machinima was uploading too many videos outside of my taste and I

didn't want my feed spamed by them.

Found FM in their playlists though and totally forgot about the other

show until now.

in 2007 I was REALLY into Gmod Machinima, and I searched for Gmod Machinimas all the time, and I played Half Life all the time and I always thought that a series about Freeman's mind would be hilarious.

I was just searching through Machinima's video list, noticing the abundant amount of episodes from this 'Freeman's Mind'. I thought it would be dumb but clicked on one anyway. (Episode 10 I think) and was hooked fro then on.

I was wandering through an anime porn site and noticed a random link to youtube in a picture parodying Half-Life. The link was to Freeman's Mind episode 1.... It was pretty damn slow start, if I had anything better to do, I probably would have turned it off and never looked back.

... >.> Eh... About that anime porn site, don't misunderstand. It was a booru, they've got loads of normal pictures, not just hentai. I was actually searching for something for a signature pic.

I hope I don't get any bad labels from that...

I actually searched for Half-Life videos on YouTube while I was watching "Half-Life in 60 seconds" which is funny as hell. Then I stumbled across Freeman's Mind since it came up in the same search. And since then I was hooked.

Tom Bowen is bloody hilarious. I just wish he'd make more video's. His "How not to play Hitman" video's are awesome. That 60 seconds video was actually what got me playing Half-Life to begin with.

Actually, that is exactly how i found it as well. Neat little coincidence.

I don't remember how I started watching them. I have a feeling I may have even started watching Civil Protection before Freeman's Mind, but it seems like such a long time ago now. All I know is I'm here now.

Feel free to PM me about almost anything and I'll do my best to answer. :)

I became aware of FM's existence around episode 4 or 5. It was a thread on another forum I visit. But after watching those I sort of forgot about the series for a while and returned to it around ep 15 if I remember right.

Same. I just got a new laptop and FINALLY upgraded from dial up and was browsing youtube searching for vids of my favorite games and came across this and loved it. Been following for a long time now, but only recently joined Accursed Farms.

I found Freeman's Mind by accident as well. Ever since I've been laughing on how great the series is.

Found a link to one of the earlier episodes in a dead thread on the forum I'm mod on, and ended up watching all 21 episodes that were out at the time. Was on a slow internet at the time, so didn't keep up with the series much until episode 28.

Don't insult me. I have trained professionals to do that.

A friend on my floor was all like "Hey, you should check this out." and I did.

That's pretty much it...

I was bored and searched machinima.com fore some video (back then when there were videos on their page).

afair Freemans Mind #12 was in the suggestions and I clicked on it... It was so funny that I immediately watched episode 13 (which was the latest episode at this time) and after that the whole series from the beginning.

I didn't feel too well one day and decided not to go to work. I knew "Half-Life in 60 seconds" before and started watching it and looking around for other videos about HL. During the search some black and white logo was appearing here and there so many times that I thought : "What the hell, it must be something good..." I clicked on it and I ended up watching all available episodes in two days (up to ep. 29 I guess) while still having a headache.

More or less the same for me. I've been an avid fan of the original Half Life for longer than I can remember, I've even the classic retail casing with Gordon Freeman on the cover. Also, being a fan of commentaries did help.

I was listening to the HL1 soundtrack and stumbled upon Military Precision, then saw a comment about Freeman's Mind.

I found it as a link on TV tropes under the article of "MalevolentArchitecture" and was confused by what Freeman's mind was but I continued to find more links and references to Freeman's mind and started on the series after a while.
